too many fanboys writing these samn reviews and too much hype goes into games that suck but have a lot of advertising dollars behind them.

not accusing you, but you are saying this game sucks? just the directional moves + the new physics alone makes this a must buy for me especially with that universe thing. it's not a huge upgrade over last year but it doesnt really need to be (the roster needs to be....but ya)

Given that everyone has a different standard for their ratings, I think it's better to focus on what is actually said about a game itself in any given review and decide whether it's something that sounds good or not.

I actually prefer gametrailers over everything, just because I can visually see any issues they have with a game even if I dont agree with their scores.

Will definitely get this game... on the PS2.

Noticed the exclusive Undertaker version on the pre-order shelf at JB Hi-Fi today. Kind of regretting not waiting and picking it up instead but I am saving money ordering it from Dungeon Crawl with my discount voucher.

I love the whole making cool bumps videos on youtube and the euphoria wrestling videos, but this year they dont need to make stupid video cuts to make cool hardcore things happen

video that shows why this game is a must buy for me.....

Awesome video. Can't wait. (Y)

EDIT: Some good news on the pre-order bonus front:

Are retailer exclusives, such as Bret Hart and the Undertaker “Ministry of Darkness Attire,” available through Fan Axxess?

Access to Bret Hart will not be included in the Fan Axxess program. However, following all retail programs, access is expected at a TBD price point for both Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network.

Seeing as though I've already saved money on the game itself, I don't mind shelling out a few MS points for some DLC (and to be honest, probably would've done so anyway).

lol

PS2 version is pretty much the same as last year. I messed something up in Create a Match (which is cool) so I couldn't pin people in Universe mode. I'm hoping to get the 360/PS3 version for cheaps again this year for the physics end of things since hardcore matches are a pretty big deal for me.

I also like the new stuff you can do on the turnbuckle.
I'd have never tried to climb it if there was another person already sitting on it.

so I got rid of the smackdown roster, put them on raw, and then made 15 TNA Caws and put them on smackdown. Universe mode IMO is well worth the price of admission especially since you can use match creator in it.

had Samoa Joe vs Kurt Angle in a submission match. Awesome they detected that they were submission people (or lucky) but I decided to spice it up a bit and have it be a submission match in an inferno ring. Now that is a main event.

commentary sucks, graphics suck (ps2 remember) but I am having fun with it again.

oh and blood gets on the weapons, nice touch, lol. I had a normal match with a manager. I had my manager bring me a chair and then distract the ref. Smacked my opponent, bloodied him, blood on the chair. Dropped it, ref picks it up and puts the bloody chair outside of the ring then comes back in for the pin on my blood soaked opponent.

Stop making me wish I had the game. Ordered it online (for 'Taker's gear), hasn't shown up yet. Won't until Monday, at which point I'll have to choose between that and the football. Tried renting it to fill in the time, because tomorrow's pretty empty, no dice.

Can't say I'm too happy about the ladders snapping in half this year though. It was an awesome spot at 'Mania 23, but it's been so overdone and in situations where the ladder snapping is far less likely that I'm sick of it. And it happens way too easily in the game.

looks like it only happens when the ladder is leaned up against the corner, you could always try to avoid that

I know what you mean, though I didn't order through JB Hi-Fi so I'll have to wait until the Ministry of Darkness outfit becomes DLC. Hoping my copy arrives tomorrow, along with New Vegas.

Not really impressed with the new RTWM. Walk around, talk to someone, pick a fight, throw three billion chops, go out, have a random match with very little storyline behind it (if any at all), rinse, repeat. Also, in Christian's RTWM, they use the old Edge and Christian theme, but only for the cutscenes, not for the entrances. What the hell? Unlocking things happens completely at random (and Universe is included in this, too), seemingly, making it more a pain in the ass than usual to unlock everything (and making Fan Axxess look appealing). At least they took all the finisher and signature bullshit out of the practice checklist this year. That was just painful to do last time.

Universe also seems to be booked by Vince Russo. Gimmick matches all over the card, run-ins and other surprises every match, and so on.

On the other hand, the modifications to the movesets and match types, and the physics system, are just awesome.

Anyone managed to get a decent-length match? I was finishing matches on Hard in just a couple of minutes, so I bumped down the momentum gains for all three categories, and bumped the stamina effect down a bit, and matches are still finishing within five minutes, just without a finisher (or even a signature move) ever being performed. Finishers and weapons seem to be the only thing you can tune damage on, though.

I'm definitely thinking of picking up the Fan Axxess pack or the standalone Unlock Everything DLC; sounds like that might be the way to go.

Still hasn't arrived yet. Today, perhaps.
