Dallas

Before the season there were alot questions regarding the mavericks, and the addition of antoine walker has helped them. But the topic of this is, if dallas could, do you think they would take back that trade with golden state for antawn jamison? i think they would, becuase nick van exel has proven to be a great sixth man, and while jamison is effective, he isnt as good as van exel. What do you guys think?

hard to say... nve has been hurt much of the year, jamison's healthy. also finley's resurgence imo has to do a lot with nve not being there

i think Mavs success will depend on Najera's PT. He's pretty the much the only guy that plays defense and hustles. He's ideal against a guy like Webber.

i think jamison is a better player than walker.
reason:
he has better skills
stronger player
has some class and at the same time has sound fundamentals of the game
can play defense
can score more than walker (look at last year's pt. avg)
doesnt take stupid shots

it took some guts for jamison to give up the spot to walker
however, he deserves the starting spot.
walker is bad for the team!
they need to get rid of him.

Jamison is a higher precentage/better scorer, they're both weak defensively, Jamison is a little quicker and faster, but Antoine is a slightly better rebounder and a better passer.

I'd take Jamison over Toine, he isn't stupid and doesn't launch up ill advised three's, but you could say Antoine as more heart.

Don Nelson needs to talk to Antoine and discuss his role on the team. If you take away Antoine's poor decision making when it comes to shots, he's arguably the most versatile and most skilled player on that team.

He's a 6'9"-6'10" forward who can play point guard, shoot the long ball, score with his back to the basket, and do the dirty work inside. You could almost say he can do too much for this team. Dirk, Nash, and Finley, they all have their roles on offense, and as good as Walker is (or could be), he just doesn't fit into the puzzle.

What Nellie needs to do is either give Antoine his role on the team and make him stick with it, or send him away for a capable role player who can come off the bench.

Limp brings up a great point about Van Exel. Even though NVE was one of the main reasons Dallas reached the Western finals last year he's battled injuries this season, while the Mavericks are getting good numbers for Jamison in 29 minutes per game off the bench. Assuming NVE would been having the same injury troubles staying in Dallas, the Mavs are better off with Jamison.

I guess we'll see the difference come playoff time. If the absence of a NVE-type player proves to be the Mavericks' downfall, perhaps we could say that Jamison wasn't the right player to trade for. Right now it's not working out too badly for Dallas. They are behind last year's pace, but who's to say they would be doing any better had they kept last year's squad intact?

But I'm rambling. I'll just say that right now, it doesn't look like Dallas made a mistake.

I think the Jamison - NVE trade helped Dallas more than it owed them. The problem with the Mavs is Walker IMO. They should give Toine the role Jamison has right now and exchange their spots. That's my oppinion.
