cheers guys

well, i just did the unfathomable.

FedEx arrived, i held the unopened box with 2k11 & controller in my hands for a few minutes, then drove to mom's. Gave her the package and said, "Here's my christmas present. I don't want anything else. Don't give me anything else; just this box. No matter what I say until christmas, how much I might insist or beg for it back, DON'T give it to me!" lol

seriously life's too crazy/unstable for me atm and i just can't afford a huge time sink (which i know it will be). So, as much as i feel sick to my stomach right now like i just stomped on a bunch of anticipation butterflies, I know i gotta take care of business first and now I've a huge carrot as incentive waiting for me in December.

Til then, i'll continue here and try squeeze in a post now and again when i've time. Will likely "Flash Forward" to speed to the next season in the coming days as i can see some exciting developments storywise.

It's interesting... you can make Christmas come in October simply by knowing you're getting something you really, really want way ahead of time lol :xmas:

Thx for the continued readership guys

ps. Just thought... there's always the possibility they shipped the wrong things... DAMN! Dec 25th can't get here soon enough

Though it sucks that this dynasty will be shelved soon, a 2k11 association from Clutch sounds like a pretty sweet replacement.

October 28, 2012

This is Avery Johnson, Head Coach of the Golden State Warriors.

I've decided to keep a personal journal about the coming 2012-13 season as a way of documenting the team's successes and failures; when I say "the team" I include myself, as there were many mistakes that occurred last season which I could've handled differently. A failure as a coach on my part but as they say, hindsight is 20/20.

Last Season

The best place to begin is with last season. I won't dwell on it too long as recent developments have me excited about this team's future; but a recap is worth noting so as not to repeat the same mistakes.

The start of last year was terrific. The Carter-for-Martin trade early in the season seemed to be working to perfection and by mid-January we reached 12 games above .500 and looked playoff-bound, even after a freakish plague of injuries which struck the team almost from day one of the new year.

Image

We continued to win carried on the shoulders of Vince Carter who captured West Player of the Month in January. I was elated at the time just to keep our momentum strong, considering our injury situation. What I failed to realize was there was something else going on driving the wins; a game within the game. At the time I believed Carter was doing everything he could to help our team win out of a sense of pride and loyalty; but looking back, he was only playing for one person - Vince Carter.

Image

In his mid-thirties and in a contract-ending season, Carter knew that in order to remain attractive to the free agent market, he'd have to have a season to remember. It's not uncommon practice for players in a contract-ending year to play their hearts out, have a showcase season in order to land a cushy contract the next season, then coast on their laurels for the rest of their careers unfortunately. In an aging veteran's case, their mission is even more crucial. But in this case, Carter's selfish play implanted destructive seeds in the impressionable minds of our younger players, one in particular I will always regret losing. More on that later.

The divide happened in late January with Carter's public declaration after a decisive 26 point win over the Pistons. Post-game, Carter told the media, "It don't matter who gets hurt on this team, as long as it aint ME. We'll keep winning. You all know who the star is." This comment proved to be powerfully destructive and marked the beginning of our downfall. I know I can't blame everything on him, but if I had to point a finger... well.

We lost to the Lakers by 15 a few nights later.

Too bad about the injuries to key warriors players. but at least it seems like you've moved on and continuted your winning ways. Its nice to see the ageing veteran Vince Carter playing well though, wow, player of the month for VC!

· February 11, 2012 -- Warriors rookies, Brantt 'Maverick' Dvorak and Richard 'Gollum' Baker, are invited to participate in the Rookie Challenge during All-Star weekend… Meanwhile, veteran Vince Carter is publicly challenged by Toronto's DeMarr DeRozan to participate in All-Star Weekend's Slam Dunk Competition… Carter accepts.

Eastern and Western All-Stars are also announced featuring most the usual suspects… and Jermaine "Real Deal" O'Neal.

Image

· Feb 17, 2012 -- Rookies lose to the Sophs 113-121, but not before Warriors' Brantt 'Maverick' Dvorak took fan's breath away with an 18 point, 5 rebound, 3 assist and 2 steal performance featuring several rim-rockers.

Despite Maverick's all-around night, the Cav's Haywood Faust walked away as top gun by capturing Rookie Challenge MVP honors. Faust was the Warriors' 3rd-overall pick in 2010 but was immediately sent to Cleveland along with Carl Landry during a much debated/disapproved trade in the eyes of most Warrior fans.

Image

· Feb 18, 2012 -- Vince Carter defeated Miami's young upstart airwalker, Gerard Adetoun, to win his second Slam Dunk Champion title after a layoff of literally a dozen NBA seasons. Carter didn't possess the same hangtime, but made up for it with power, surprising agility and the same strut and swagger which won him his first award back in 2000.

Image

The contest took a turn when Carter's chief antagonist, DeMar DeRozan, failed to advance along with Indiana's Danny Granger, leaving newcomer Gerard Adetoun to face Carter in the final round. But the youngster choked under the pressure of the spotlight and was dispatched with relative ease. Carter became the oldest recipient of the Slam Dunk crown at age 35.

Image
Image

· Feb 19, 2012 -- East beat West 95-110 but since no Warriors participated, it didn't matter to Warriors head coach Avery Johnson. Something had snapped in the team's psyche; unity and teamplay were replaced by dissension and discord. Carter's dunk contest win would only fueled his ego while his constant instigations sparked an irreparable divide between centers Joakim Noah and Andris Biedrins.

Egos clashed, tempers flared and by mid-month Golden State found themselves once again tumbling into oblivion, living down to their own expectations.

Yep. Even better that VC ended up winning (Y)

Clutch, when you switch to 2k, are you planning to stick with GSW or will you go with other squad?

thx guys; all i can say is stay tuned

thierry - i kinda just assumed i would take up GSW in 2k11 but i'm really not sure; i'll see after i've played around with it (damn why didn't i just open that box instead of waiting for x-mas!?! lol); i've a few choice teams (besides GSW) that i'm drawn to for particular reasons; but i think a successful story can be told from pretty much any team's perspective since the repercussions of 'the Decision' were felt league-wide
