Well, as your very very avid follower, I would like to request that you sim to the playoffs and finish the playoff run. :) Of course, I want to see you beat 33... so maybe beat 33 then sim to end of season?

I just want to see you win it all before ending this!

Tempting, but probably not. I like creating my own reality through a Dynasty (or for that matter, an Association with NBA 2K11) but that's a little too out there for my liking. ;)

Thanks Sit. :) With NBA Elite 11 being delayed, I expect I will at least get through the season one way or another, then take it from there.

Yep, I wouldn't do it myself. Was just wondering with you being a big MJ fan.

I might however put them in & sim one season to see how many wins the CPU thinks they would get & see what sim stats are like.

Yeah, I'd be tempted to play around with it like that but I think the complete lack of reality would bug me as far as playing it like I would my usual Dynasty games and I couldn't really make an Association story out of it. For the most part, I'll save fantasy matchups for exhibition mode, but if we can get some retro roster patches going then that'd make for a fun Association. (Y)

As I've said before, I would like to continue this one (perhaps simming a bit if necessary, though I want to at least finish February so I can try for POTM for Gordon) but it's on the backburner for the moment in favour of NBA 2K11 stuff, the LIVE JAM mod, the current roster updates, bringing the Wiki up to date and a couple of other things, which are going to take up a decent amount of the time that isn't already allotted to my day job and social life. So probably no more updates for a little while but for those who've been following, I expect to be back into it at some point. :)

Yeah, association would be nice. It seems like it's the "in" thing to abandon a Live story and start a 2K11 association.

February 25th, 2007
Dallas (89) at Chicago (124)
Gordon stars as league's top two teams clash

[ Boxscore ]

Image
Gordon makes a midair decision for his 22nd assist of the night

The much-anticipated clash between the top two teams this season turned out to be an anti-climactic affair, as Ben Gordon turned in a 31 points, 22 assist performance to lead the Chicago Bulls in a rout over the Dallas Mavericks 124-89. Luol Deng also added 20 points for the Bulls while Tyson Chandler had a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds to go along with four blocks. Dirk Nowitzki, second in the league to Gordon in scoring, scored 25 points to lead Dallas and also had a team high 10 rebounds.

Chicago began the game somewhat tentatively, allowing the Mavericks to take a 19-14 advantage halfway through the first quarter. The lead would not last long however, as the Bulls picked up the pace and rode an 11-2 run to wrest control away from the visiting team and finish the period with a nine point lead. Despite Nowitzki scoring 14 of his 25 points in the first half, the Bulls blew the game open in the second quarter as they outscored the Mavericks 35-16 and never looked back, continuing the assault in the third quarter with a 34-21 advantage.

"We embarrassed ourselves tonight," a visibly dejected Nowitzki told reporters after the game. "This was supposed to be a matchup between the two best teams in the league but we didn't show up. We just let them run all over us." The Bulls' quick hands and deft passing clearly left the Mavericks disorientated and out of sync, as Chicago tallied 14 steals and 45 assists in the contest, compared to just five steals and 23 assists by Dallas. Both teams struggled to keep control of the ball at times however, with the Mavericks registering 31 turnovers while the Bulls had 27.

Jason Terry scored 13 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as the Mavs made a couple of spirited runs but ultimately could only manage a six point dent in Chicago's commanding lead. With the victory, the Bulls' winning streak now stands at 24.

Notes: Ben Gordon had 11 turnovers in the game, while Devin Harris had nine...both teams grabbed 35 rebounds but the Mavericks had a 15-10 advantage on the offensive glass..all five Bulls starters scored in double digits while Kyle Korver also had 14 off the bench. Three Mavericks (Nowitzki, Terry and Howard) reached double digits in scoring...the two teams will meet again March 4th in Dallas.

Current Record: 47-5
Next Game: @ New York Knicks; 21-35 (February 26th)

Gordon is just amazing, 30-20 game is not a problem for him. 11 turnovers were a bit too much, but you had no problem beating them.

Yeah that was a bit of a damper on the game. Like a lot of my high turnover games, it came about from playing the passing lanes, since 06 erroneously counts deflections out of bounds as turnovers.

Thanks. :) I'm doing all I can to get Gordon the Player of the Month award at least once, following his All-Star snub. I've got him into the MVP Candidates shortlist at long last, so here's hoping.

February 26th, 2007
Chicago (116) at New York (99)
Bulls charge to 25th straight victory

[ Boxscore ]

Ben Gordon had a near triple double with 34 points, 16 assists and nine rebounds as the Chicago Bulls defeated their longtime rivals the New York Knicks for their 25th consecutive victory. Carlos Boozer also registered a double double for the Bulls with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Quentin Richardson top scored for the Knicks with 20 off the bench. Star point guard Stephon Marbury tallied 19 points, 11 assists and four steals in the losing effort.

Throughout the first half, it looked as though the hometown Knicks would provide a worthy challenge the defending champions, as the two teams traded baskets through the first quarter which ended with the Bulls up 29-24. New York began the second quarter strong and managed to tie the game at 33 on a three point play from Marbury, before taking a 35-33 lead after the Bulls misfired on their next trip down the court. Chicago recaptured the lead before New York once again tied the game at 37, with Gordon making a three pointer to ultimately give the Bulls the lead for good. The score remained close for the rest of the period however, with Bulls holding onto a slim 58-52 advantage at the half.

As they've done so many times this season, the Bulls turned in an impressive third quarter as they outscored the Knicks 36-23 to take a commanding lead in the game. The Knicks would come within thirteen points during the fourth but never seriously challenged the lead, ultimately losing by seventeen. Gordon scored 12 fourth quarter points to help seal Chicago's victory.

Notes: The Knicks are just 9-20 at home this season, compared to 12-16 on the road. The Bulls are 20-4 at home and 28-1 away from the United Center...the Bulls attempted 30 three pointers, connecting on 13. The Knicks were 6/15 from beyond the arc...Chicago controlled the boards with a 39-31 advantage, including a 16-10 edge on the offensive glass.

Current Record: 48-5

February 28th, 2007
Chicago (109) at Atlanta (99)
Gordon registers another triple double, Bulls complete another undefeated month

[ Boxscore ]

Image
Gordon collects his tenth rebound of the game to secure another triple double

The Atlanta Hawks put up a valiant fight against the defending champions but ultimately there was no standing the way of Ben Gordon and the Chicago Bulls. Gordon, the talk of the NBA after being snubbed for the All-Star game despite putting up impressive numbers on the league's best team, delivered another triple double with 28 points, 13 rebounds and 17 assists along with two steals as the Bulls won their 26th game in a row, completing another undefeated month. The team is yet to lose in 2007.

Neither team managed to take a firm grasp of the game through the first ten minutes of the game, trading baskets until finally the Bulls managed to take control late in the quarter. Josh Childress rattled in a three pointer from beyond midcourt to end the first period, cutting the deficit to three and setting up another competitive twelve minutes in the second quarter, in which the lead changed hands a couple of times before Chicago once again eked out a slim 57-52 advantage at the half.

Usually the aggressors in the third quarter, the Bulls instead found themselves outplayed by the Hawks and were outscored 25-18 in the period. Atlanta's defense managed to disrupt several of Chicago's shot attempts and the offense stalled, leading to careless turnovers which the Hawks turned into points at the other end. The hometown team appeared to have all the momentum as they took a 73-68 lead late in the third but Kyle Korver, who scored 13 of his 15 points in the period, nailed a three pointer and then converted a couple of layups following two steals by Kirk Hinrich to tie the game at 75. Al Harrington then scored at the buzzer to take a 77-75 lead into the fourth quarter.

Atlanta's luck seemed to run out however as the Bulls went on an 11-0 run to start the fourth quarter, holding the Hawks scoreless for the first three and a half minutes of the period. Gordon, who was scoreless in the third quarter and contributed just one assist, tallied 16 points, six rebounds and eight assists in the final stanza as the Bulls withstood one final run by the Hawks for a 109-99 victory.

Joe Johnson top scored for the Hawks with 26 points on a blistering 10/14 from the field, but played only 29 minutes after picking up a couple of quick fouls in the third quarter. Al Harrington had 14 points while DeMarcus Arnold had 11 points off the bench. Raymond Felton had 10 assists but scored just 8 points on 1/11 shooting, making 5/6 at the free throw line. For the Bulls, Kirk Hinrich contributed 20 points, six assists and three steals while Carlos Boozer added 14 points and six rebounds.

Notes: Rebounding was fairly even, with the Bulls edging the Hawks 36-35 on the glass. The Hawks had a 14-12 advantage at the offensive end...the Bulls did not block a single shot during the game, while the Hawks sent back four attempts...the Bulls' ten point win is their lowest margin of victory since their 127-119 victory over the Sixers on February 10th...Gordon registered four triple doubles during the month of February and became the fifth player to register a quadruple double. He has five triple doubles on the season.

Current Record: 49-5
