Marcus

The mutant in my Fallout 2 games that wasted his minigun ammo shooting alien eggs. When he ran out of ammo, the real aliens come out and he just threw out flares to them. :shake:

EDIT: Oh, he already has a screenshot from New Vegas:

On The Vault, I've noticed people already bitching about how he looks in New Vegas and claiming that Fallout 2 has better graphics than Fallout 3/New Vegas. I know this is the Internet and hyperbole is considered a legitimate means of getting your point across but come on.

Seems like they're taking off that CG dialogue image of Marcus as "good graphics."

Posted on the Vault a few times last Summer when I was trying to configure my Fallout 2 mods (which I tragically lost when switching computers). Guys are such nerds there.

You see it a lot though. "Oh, NBA Live's graphics are terrible, they're equivalent to SNES graphics, lol". It's a ridiculous exaggeration to get a point across, some folks would rather toss out a snarky one liner than take the time to write another couple of sentences and make an intelligent observation.

That is some kickass looking screenshot there, Lean. I can't wait to explore the mansion behind that mutant.

G4TV Preview

Sounds like the factions will provide an interesting twist:

"Awesome," I think. "I stole a powder gang outfit when I offed those two gang members on the way over. I'll just slip this on, and waltz into town."

Bad idea. The convicts accept me all right, but I hadn't figured on the fact that the Powder Gang was engaged in a high octane firefight with the forces of Law and Order who surround Primm. As soon as I got in sight of the soldiers, they lit me up from two sides, tearing me apart with gunfire while I fruitlessly ran for cover. Bang -- dead. Life in the Vegas wasteland is cheap and ends fast, and I never even found out which sons of bitches shot me.

While there were reactions to some of the apparel in Fallout 3, I always found it kind of funny that people would readily accept you when you wore Raider armour into town. Seems we'll have to think twice about things like that, which I guess will be annoying in a way (save early, and often, as Sierra Online used to say in their games) but also adds a new dimension and challenge to the game.

IGN did another preview of New Vegas. The good news (at least for me) is that they apparently overhauled the visuals, which wasn't necessarily obvious from the videos seen so far. The textures are apparently much crisper than in Fallout 3, and they seem to have had loads of fun playing the game overall. Can't wait

Good news, though even if it was only a slight improvement over Fallout 3 I wouldn't be disappointed. Can't wait.

el badman's comp sure could handle the game to the max settings. I wonder about mine. On the Fallout 3, I think I was at borderlin.

I've tried it maxed out before, framerate's just a little too low to enjoy on those settings with my system. No matter, the reasonably high settings are fine by me and my enjoyment isn't hindered by them.

I always look for a wow factor(something new I guess) in a game whether it is graphical one or gameplay one. In Fallout 3, it was both. The world was immense while the graphics and art works were superb. I wonder if this new upcoming Fallout will offer the same.

Certainly seems that way.

Pretty much done with my latest playthrough of Fallout 3 so it can go back on the shelf. Bring on New Vegas!

Just saw all the vids you posted, el bad.

Love it! Absolutely stunning, brings back the momory playing Fallout 3 day and night. Seems like Vegas was rebuilt rather quickly than any other cities. Will always miss megaton though. (Y)

I don't think it's meant to be rebuilt, it's just avoided the catastrophic damage that DC was shown to have suffered in Fallout 3.

That'd be more like it, I guess.

Any of you planning to start on hardcore mode? In needs of food, water, and sleep while the weights you can carry is quite limited, all just like in a real life... now that's real hardcore from a video game. I wonder if they made this game beatable in hardcore mode without any tips/help from outer source.

I still haven't decided but to be honest I'm leaning towards normal mode. There are some things I just don't want to worry about in a video game but since you can toggle it on and off, I'll have to give it a go at some point. I think I'd save hardcore mode until my second playthrough, when I know the game better.

I'll definitely try the hardcore mod, but I don't know yet if it will be for my first or second playthrough. I remember installing a similar mod for Fallout 3 and even for Oblivion before that, so it won't really feel like something new to me. My only concern is with the ammo having weight, I do tend to keep large stocks of ammo...
