Rose's career playoff high leads Bulls over Wizards in game 4
Washington, DC - It really wasn't that long ago when Derrick Rose dropped a record tying 36 points on the Boston Celtics as a rookie.
Just in case you needed a reminder, Rose did it again tonight, this time on Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards.
Rose dropped in a career playoff high 37 points, and added 9 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals in 34 minutes of play to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 100-83 blowout victory over the Wizards here in Game 4. He shot 14 for 20 from the field and went for a perfect 9 for 9 from the charity stripe.
He had some help too, in a night where his backcourt superstar partner Dwyane Wade struggled to score - he was just 7 for 17 from the field for 17 points - Derrick Rose had a major contribution from his 2 centers, Joakim Noah and Brad Miller.
Noah scored just 6 points, but added a career playoff high 19 rebounds and 2 rejections while Brad Miller had 10 points and 7 rebounds coming off the bench.
"It was a great effort from all the guys" said Rose in the post-game press conference "I know Dwyane will get his shot back, he's such a talented player, and the play from Joakim was just a big help"
"We needed this one after getting beat the last game" added the All-Star Guard, who brushed off his stellar play humbly
For the Wizards, while their two superstars Gilbert Arenas and Chris Bosh delivered another 20-10 game each, the rest of the team were not doing so well.
Arenas dropped in 25 points and had 13 assists in 35 minutes while Bosh had 20 points and 10 rebounds despite playing just 29 minutes due to foul trouble. However, Washington only had one other player in double figures in Al Thornton (10 points) as the rest of the team struggled both offensively AND defensively against the Bulls.
This blowout loss came just two nights after they managed to take a 3 point victory in double overtime. Even the two losses in Chicago were due to buzzer beating game winners.
"Our Energy just wasn't there" said head coach Flip Saunders "I think that double ot game probably drained us, but same goes for them so it's really no excuse"
"We just need to play better" Saunders added
The Bulls now have a 3-1 series lead as play will resume in Chicago, where it'll be win or go home, for the Washington Wizards.
