2004 Three Point Shootout

Fri Jan 23, 2004 11:35 am

The contestents have been named for the 3-point shootout...AND THEY ARE (Drumroll please....) :

Brent Barry
Peja Stojakavich (Excuse me for spelling)
Chauncey Billups
Cat Mobley
Voshon Lenard
Rashard Lewis

Will Peja win 3 in a row? Only the great Larry Bird has before...as well as Craig Hodges whom I've neva heard of....or will one of the other guys beat him to his crown....

I reakon Brent Barry is the Dark Horse to beat Peja- but when ever Peja shoots the three- its 'MONEY!'

Fri Jan 23, 2004 12:24 pm

Reggie should be in there. He has never won

Fri Jan 23, 2004 1:03 pm

I'll throw caution to the wind, and confidently predict Peja will win his third straight. Though it would be cool to see Barry win it - he'd be the first person to win both the dunk contest and the three point shootout.

Fri Jan 23, 2004 3:31 pm

grrr....I hoped that Kyle Korver would be in it but NO! Silly NBA.
Only Brent posesses the threat to Peja... Peja's gonna win it again

Fri Jan 23, 2004 3:35 pm

Michael Redd should be there...he has proven himself this year with the bucks

Fri Jan 23, 2004 3:55 pm

i'd like to see more contestants like back in the day...

prediction: billups wins on the account of wanting to show coach brown he should be given more free reign to fire away in the piston offense.

i feel like the old fart on the forum when someone here says he's never heard of craig hodges

Sat Jan 24, 2004 12:24 am

cat and rashard???? whyyyy???? to me, they're more of a game time 3 shooters than anything. it'd be interesting if they can do worse than what antoine did couple of years back(or was it last year?) and i dont get a chance to watch many denver games, so cant say anything 'bout lenard.

Oh man, me too!
I'm really too old for this... :)

Sat Jan 24, 2004 10:18 am

yeh he used to play for the bulls, and refused to stand for the national anthem at games :)

Sat Jan 24, 2004 10:30 am

it's true....who is he?

Sat Jan 24, 2004 2:02 pm

man take out Mob Lenard and Lewis and put Reggie Allen and Redd in there....that'll be the perfect 3 point competition....my prediction: Peja for 3 peat...although his shooting form is not the best..he can shoot the ball well..

Sat Jan 24, 2004 6:34 pm

Craig Hodges?!?! HE played with Michael Jordan? ITs a fat Coincidence because the 1991 NBA Finals game is coming on on ESPN Classic!

CRAIG HODGES TIME?!!?!

Is that a signed Craig Hodges card?!
That should be worth a mint.
I remember playing with the Bulls in Lakers vs Celtics years and years ago. Hodges and Jordan in the one backcourt. Unstoppable pair. The game really overrated him, because he hit every single 3 he attempted. I mean every one. I launched up 11 with him every game. The 3-point contest should be named after him.

Mon Jan 26, 2004 8:33 pm

So it should be the 'Hodges' Three point shoot-out????'

Mon Jan 26, 2004 9:26 pm

yes, maybe they could make a video game after craig hodges, similar to kobe bryants sexual assualt.. er i mean kobe bryant courtside

I pick Voshorn Lenard

Wed Jan 28, 2004 6:30 am

No Allen Houston again... grrr. This year he's hurt, though, so I give him a pass. I guess some of these guys we want are asked to participate and they decline.

Oh, and for the record, I remember Hodges, though not too well.

Wed Jan 28, 2004 8:39 am

How bout Fred Hoiberg? hmm..
Peja is da favourite.. and Brent will have a chance.. i highly doubt anyone else will stand a chance in this competition

Thu Jan 29, 2004 8:32 am

if barry can't make it due to his finger getting injured by getting caught in a players shorts, and redd is chosen as his replacement, he has a chance

Thu Feb 12, 2004 4:32 pm

They've added Kyle Korver to compete in the three pt shootout. Who is he anyways?

(ranked 6th) (Y)

Thu Feb 12, 2004 10:46 pm

Finals will be Korver vs. Peja but I think Peja will get it.

Fri Feb 13, 2004 2:01 am

Korver's kinda amazing

His 3PT % is higher than is FG % all the more as he score almost 4 times more behind the 3 PT line than in the 2 Pt area !  (he scored 50 3pts this season, and only 13 2pts baskets)

This guy can really be someone in the next future

Fri Feb 13, 2004 3:03 am

Go Chauncey Billups!!!!!!!!

Fri Feb 13, 2004 3:08 am

Korver really won't be much in the future, he can be like Steve Kerr or Dell Curry at the most, okay not Dell Curry but something like that. He is the biggest defensive liability and really has no other skills but three point shooting. At least Richie Frahm can play defense, and he cna also drive, but he's older.

Fri Feb 13, 2004 7:27 am

Yeah, players like Korver are more built for the college game. He was a star in college and one of the best, if not the best shooter. He can shoot it, but that's pretty much it. He's not good at creating his own shot, and everything else he does is pretty much below average for the NBA. He's a lot like J.J. Redick, a sophomore at Duke. They've both got killer threes, but aside from that, they're worthless. They shine in the NCAA against lesser defenders, but in the NBA, it's not hard to shut them down. J.J. runs through like three or four screens before he gets the ball. Then all he does is shoot it.
