The three year rule was removed allowing Ricky Davis to be in it.
Chris Andersen,
Ricky Davis
Fred Jones
Jason Richardson

Actually I'm very dissapointed at this, only four people in the Dunk contest is like having only one round.

I think Chris Anderson could be a sleeper for this contest. I remember a couple of years ago he had an incredible dunk against Utah and he's taller than the other guys so that might be an advantage.
Wed Feb 11, 2004 5:59 am
yeah! Ricky D!
anyway, im sicking of those 'Richardson' dunks... those low pump moves are just old for J-Rich... i hope Ricky pulls this one...
Wed Feb 11, 2004 6:04 am
I want more contestant!! 8 would be cool
Wed Feb 11, 2004 6:49 am
despite removing that stupid rule, ricky davis was the best they can come up with????? well, at least they got rid of the rule, for starters. now they need to expand the pool to 6-8.
i guess ricky ricky aint that bad.
Wed Feb 11, 2004 7:06 am
Does Vince still want in?
Wed Feb 11, 2004 7:07 am
Yea they should have 8 or even 12 if that many people wanna be in it, 4 is just garbage.
Wed Feb 11, 2004 7:11 am
Yay, a white guy made it

, if i'm not mistakten
Bob Sura was the last white guy who was in the Slam dunk comp. he sucked anyway.
Wed Feb 11, 2004 7:15 am
Yeah, but before that Brent Barry did quite well
Wed Feb 11, 2004 7:19 am
Yeap, that freethrow dunk was quite neet, but didn't also Jonathan Bender did that in the 2001 or was it 2002`?
Wed Feb 11, 2004 7:33 am
I wouldnt be suprised if he did, but bender is 6-11, so its like the "shawn kemp" rule. Its easier for him than brent barry.
I think Ricky Davis can make some noise in this dunk comp
Wed Feb 11, 2004 7:45 am
Will it be the same judges as last year with Jordan, Spudd, Nique ect.
I would do a better job than those guys, or anyone who has judge the last couple of years.
They're always giving way to high grades. An average/solid dunk gets like 8points when it should get like 5 or 6
Wed Feb 11, 2004 8:02 am
I dont think it will be the same.. Probably people like elgin baylor, james worthy will be judging being from LA... but thats just a guess
Wed Feb 11, 2004 9:07 am
LeBron James
WILL be there...He said he may pull something off...and LeBron is sponsored by Sprite...and LeBron practiced a TWO HANDED TWISTING DUNK in Practice...and YAHOO SPORTS said this...
Everybody is Pissing on Chris Andersen...On these Forums and on Niketalk....Why can't someone realize this guy OWNS?! DID YOU MORONS SEE THAT SICK OFF THE LOB JAM AGAINST MILWAUKEE THIS YEAR?!

LeBron James plans to watch the NBA's dunk contest -- for now.
James was not among the four players the league announced Tuesday will take part in the event during All-Star weekend in Los Angeles. But the Cleveland Cavaliers' star rookie has been hinting at a possible surprise appearance.
Citing a sprained right ankle that sidelined him for three games, James recently turned down the NBA's invitation to be in the dunk contest. James could reconsider, however.
"I don't know," he said. "I'll think about it. There are a lot of people who want me to do it."
If James does decide to participate, the league would probably welcome him.

go ricky! the exception to the rule!
Wed Feb 11, 2004 12:23 pm
Finally, the NBA throws out the 3 year rule
Wed Feb 11, 2004 12:29 pm
Now we want more than just 4 dunkers!
Wed Feb 11, 2004 12:58 pm
Being the slam dunk contest champ.. not all what it's cracked up to be.

Thu Feb 12, 2004 5:28 am
Lebron has said that he might reconsider and enter, making it five. I don't know if he can do that, but it said that in the newspaper today.
Thu Feb 12, 2004 7:53 am
I heard Jason Richardson was working on a 360 between the legs

Wouldn't be suprised since he said in the last Dunk contest that he was suppose to have it to the final dunk but he couldn't do the steps right so Gilbert Arenas told him to do the behind between the legs dunk instead.
