In the works: Corliss and ura to Bulls for Fizer and Gill

The Pistons are supposedly working on a deal that could bring Chicago's Marcus Fizer and Kendall Gill to Detroit for Corliss Williamson or Bobby Sura.

The Pistons are trying to create enough cap space to retain Mehmet Okur, who will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season. Williamson, 30, is averaging 8.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in 19.4 minutes.

Not really a big trade here. If I was the GM for the Pistons, I wouldn't get rid of Sura. He's a good bench player.

But he isn't playing at all lately... Since November... Well, Fizer could work for the Pisstons, though they would let him go at season's end... Dunno... Chicago just keeps getting worse... They should start it all over again...

I think Fizer will do more for Detroit. He's better than Darvin Ham.

I think the Bulls get the better deal. Corliss is pretty solid off of the bench. The Bulls would have a good group off of the bench.

I prefer Gill to Sura, but I'm in favour of getting rid of Fizer, so I like the deal. Williamson does have 3 years remaining on his contract though, which will force the Bulls to commit cap space to him beyond this season. They've already taken on a couple of sizeable contracts that run at least another couple of years; another one will probably make it difficult for Paxson to start over rebuilding his way.

this is riduculous for the bulls side. corliss is fizer, but older, overpaid and a longer contract. this trade would committ half the team's payroll to bench players. not even after a keg's worth of bulls kool aid could i put a positive spin on this deal for chicago

my guess is that pax was inquiring about sura and since detroit is actively looking to trade corliss and his contract, dumars mentioned his name

the bulls need a sg or sf that can hit an outside shot, not another damn pf.

The Bulls aren't likely to agree to such a deal. Williamson has three more years left on his contract after this season worth a total of $18 million. As a power forward with small forward size, it's questionable whether Williamson fills a need for the Bulls.

A scenario that could make more sense for the Bulls is trading Fizer to the Pistons for Chucky Atkins. The 5-11 guard has two years left on his contract at a more reasonable $4.2 and $4.5 million.

So who else could be on the move? Portland is ready to deal the demoted Dale Davis as well as Ruben Patterson. The Magic is looking for a home for Juwan Howard, and Drew Gooden is said to want out. The Wizards are trying to deal Christian Laettner, whom owner Abe Pollin condemned for his recent drug suspension. The Pistons are trying to unload a contract to have enough salary-cap room to make a substantial offer to Mehmet Okur, in whom Denver is said to be interested.

The Jazz is still looking at Tom Gugliotta from the Suns, who want to make a deal for luxury-tax relief after the season. Doug Christie's wife says the Kings are trying to trade Christie, though the Kings aren't saying anything. Seattle's Vladimir Radmanovic is said to be available as his playing time dwindles. The Sonics see Nick Collison returning next season and taking over at power forward.

So are the Bulls up to anything? Those talks with the 76ers and Magic about Aaron McKie and Gordon Giricek involve Jamal Crawford. The Bulls supposedly want to deal Crawford before they have to negotiate with him after the season, but they know they need a scoring guard or forward to replace him to at least remain competitive the rest of the season.

The Magic, the biggest underachiever of the season, is trying to shake things up, as are the fading Celtics by offering the expiring contract of Chris Mills. The front-running Pacers might be willing to move Al Harrington, who has been privately lobbying hard to start. There is talk they'll include Jamaal Tinsley in a package.

I think I'll have to go back on my previous statement. Williamson for Fizer isn't as appealing as it first sounded. I'm a little too eager to send Fizer packing.

I'm still not sure I'd like to see the Bulls trade Crawford just yet - not for any of the players mentioned.

bulls need some serious reconstruction ... it obviously isnt working there.
first of all, they need to get some serious players .... they should pull off something like what new york did.

i think they should take a risk by looking to move eddy curry or tyson chandler .... maybe to houston ... i heard stevie franchise was on the market .... they could have ming and curry/chandler playing together .... could be like robinson and duncan from 99' except better.

if not, they should do somethin ... if they dont move one of their players ... i dont see the bulls gettin better ... one good rookie is not going to change the face of the franchise in today's league .... the bulls arent gonna find the next MJ in the rookie draft nor are they gonna get any free agent that would help them .... the bulls need to get a proven superstar or an all star caliber player ... someone that can provide them with some scoring.

maybe they can work out a deal with boston for paul pierce .... since that team in boston is willing to pull off any dumb move as they are trying to reconstruct
