Agreed. He was merely an average starting point guard last year, and is having a sophomore slump. He may be the Brooke Shields of big men but Brook Lopez should have won the award last season. I didn't really understand why he was hyped so much in the first place though. That block in last year's playoffs was nifty though

It kind of bugs me that Joakim Noah and Ben Wallace didn't make this ballot, but Brad Miller and Rasheed Wallace did. I mean, none of those guys are going to the game, but it's still rather lame.

It's somewhat understandable with Noah, as he hasn't really been terrific until this year. I think he's in with a genuine shot at the coach's vote if he continues to lead the league in rebounding. And Ben Wallace has been rubbish the last couple of years. Brad Miller has been a consistent double-figure scorer throughout his career, which has probably kept him on the ballot. And Rasheed Wallace is still an impact player, plus he's in Beantown.

Chris Kaman's exclusion is totally stupid.

I'm with you on the playoffs 100%, although Ben Gordon would have given him a run for his money as playoff MVP. But Noah's lack of conditioning kept him off the floor for 24 minutes every game of the regular season. So he wasn't able to make the same impact that he has this year. This past off-season, he has obviously worked his penis off and got himself into much better shape (throwing away the bong has evidently helped). And because of that, he's managed to keep the Bulls with a reasonable record despite the rest of the team (save Deng and to a lesser extent Hinrich and Miller) playing like arse.

To get back to the semantics argument, yes, when he was on the court last year, Joakim Noah was terrific. But he just wasn't on the court enough. I don't know if there's a stat that shows what the Bulls' record would have been had Noah played 36 minutes every game, but I'm sure it would have netted the Bulls an extra win or 3 or 4.

At the end of the day, I'm hoping that the numbers he's posted this year will be enough to get him an All-Star spot, because he deserves it. But then there's also been a great improvement in the other East Centres. Lopez is even better than he was a year ago, but the Nets are disgusting right now, so he's probably out. Al Horford has been very good on a very good Atlanta team. Andrew Bogut has come on strong after a weak first couple of games. And Roy Hibbert is probably close to Most Improved Player on a not awful Indiana team. Throw in the out of position David Lee and Andrea Bargnani and finally Shaq, who can't really not make the All-Star team.

Dwight Howard gets the start, and reserve Centre is likely between Noah, Bogut, Horford, Lopez and Hibbert.
