stojakovic more valuable than duncan? probably the most stupid thing i've read since people writing that the kings were better without webber.
stojakovic scores 3 more points than duncan in 4 more minutes per game and this is his argument for why he should be mvp over duncan? put the kings record down to how well the team is playing as a whole not stojakovic's scoring average. brad miller is the most valuable player of the kings so far. divac is also solid, bibby jackson are also playing very good. duncan just doesn't have this kind of support and the spurs are winning 13 straight while duncan is his usual dominant self.

Yer Stojakovic has been awesome, but for once, im gonna have to agree with shep, Brad Miller has been the most valuable for the queens.

I think Peja has been more of catalyst for the kings this season than what Duncan has been for the spurs. Peja is so efficent for a jumpshooting small forward its not funny, and this really opens things up for Brad Miller, Vlade, Bibby etc. Once Webber returns, Peja wont get any mvp recognition, but he deserves some now. Especially if Tmac is getting some love in this thread. If I had a vote, I would put Peja on top of Duncan, same with Baron Davis and KG.
My all nba first team:
Duncan(5)
KG(4)
Peja(3)
Iverson (2)
Baron Davis(1)

duncan is not a center

Actually he is but he played PF because Spurs had David Robinson,I don't know why he still plays at PF,let's say that he's just better at PF.
Wed Dec 31, 2003 1:29 pm
I don't know why he still plays at PF
because thats what he is
Wed Dec 31, 2003 7:32 pm
Duncan is not just a pf or a center.. he is both..
He calls himself a PF but he is more center-like but then he starts at PF soo he is qualified as a PF but again.. he is a center-type player wanting to play PF..
what is he?
Peja is big part of the Kings.. He is leader scorer of the Kings and an all-star on 1 of the best teams in the NBA.. He is not more valuable than Duncan who the ONLY real star on his team..
Kings have Bibby, Brad Miller who are having all-star seasons.. Divac, a previous all-star, Doug Christie, a guy whos been named all defensive teams before.. and Bobby Jackson a 6th man of the year candidate..
Spurs don't have any of that.. Parker is not as good as Bibby.. Manu is a good starter but nothing more

I think its KG's time to win the MVP. His stats are unbelievable but he has to prove first he can bring his team to the latter part of the playoffs.

a power forward

the nba won't change its regulations just to see if kevin garnett can get the timberwolves past the first round.

once again shep, i agree with ya.
im sick of hearing people call tim duncan a centre just coz hes 7 feet tall, the guy has never played there full time, hes a full time power forward, therefore hes a power forward, not a centre.
Tim Duncan aint a centre.

Lol get a grip, with all nba and all star teams you dont have to have players by specific position. For example, in the 99 all nba first team Jason Kidd and Gary Payton were both selected despite both being point guards.
I think Duncan is getting too much credit. No way did he deserve the mvp last season, and yet he got it basically becuase of his teams record, and now his team is on a decent (but not great, look at the teams they have beaten) winning streak everyone wants to gift wrap him the mvp again.
Kings have Bibby, Brad Miller who are having all-star seasons.. Divac, a previous all-star, Doug Christie, a guy whos been named all defensive teams before.. and Bobby Jackson a 6th man of the year candidate..
If your going to list Christie and Divac as stars then im going to list Parker, Horry, Bruce Bowen, Hedo Turkoglu Malik Rose, Ron Mercer and Manu Ginobili. The Spurs have more depth, but I don't buy into Brad Miller being an all star in the west. The Kings have better shooters than san antonio, but in large part becuase of Peja.

yes i realise this. what you don't seem to realise is that each of the all-star and all-nba teams has
one center, two forwards, and two guards.

he didn't deserve it, kevin garnett did. but besides garnett, duncan was the most valuable player last season.
and yet he got it basically becuase of his teams record
and who led them to that record? tim duncan did, hence him being very valuable to that team.

yes i realise this. what you don't seem to realise is that each of the all-star and all-nba teams has one center, two forwards, and two guards.
But yet Ben Wallace is listed as a centre for the east all stars...
he didn't deserve it, kevin garnett did. but besides garnett, duncan was the most valuable player last season.
I felt Duncan regressed last season from 2002, and i also felt Kobe and Tmac were more deserving than Duncan.
and who led them to that record? tim duncan did, hence him being very valuable to that team.
And who has lead the kings to their record so far? Peja? Correct!

he deserves some recognition as well..although I think KG is the number one choice so far.
Thu Jan 01, 2004 2:43 pm
But yet Ben Wallace is listed as a centre for the east all stars
true, although i've never seen tim duncan named a center in an all nba team or an allstar team.
I felt Duncan regressed last season from 2002
i didn't
i also felt Kobe and Tmac were more deserving than Duncan.
kove is a very close third. but i fail to understand you're chosing of tmac ahead of duncan. tmac misses 7 games and his team loses 18 more games than duncan's team. never the less, tmac was the fourth most valuable player last season.
And who has lead the kings to their record so far? Peja? Correct!
incorrect. brad miller.
Thu Jan 01, 2004 3:23 pm
true, although i've never seen tim duncan named a center in an all nba team or an allstar team.
But, it made my point that somtimes power forwards can be classed as centres, and tim duncan is the best example of that.
incorrect. brad miller.
Funny you say that, I wonder who will be going to the bench when Cwebb returns?
Thu Jan 01, 2004 3:34 pm
it made my point that somtimes power forwards can be classed as centres
i have full confidence in typing that tim duncan will never be named as center in an allstar/all nba team while he still plays power forward for the spurs.
Funny you say that, I wonder who will be going to the bench when Cwebb returns?
vlade divac will...i thought everyone new this
Thu Jan 01, 2004 3:39 pm
I was actually thinking Vlade would stay in the lineup this year, and brad miller come off the bench. We'll have to see when Webber returns..
Thu Jan 01, 2004 3:40 pm
I hope Divac is the one that goes to the bench, so he is much better rested for the playoffs, if they played both him and Miller, 24 minutes it would work wonders come playoff time.
I have no problem putting Duncan at Center for something, I mean Pedja is having a brilliant year but he will have to come off the bench at the All-Star Game because two gods are infront of him at forward. Moving Duncan to Center lets you put all three of the studs on the court.
I would hand Duncan MVP for the third straight time this year out of personal preference, but KG is having such a phenominal season I'd probably have to give him the nod this year.
Regarding Brad Miller as an All-Star out West, he is. Especially if you list him at Center, he's the best after Shaq this year. Miller is taking advantage of that historical offense the Kings are running. He should be there with Pedja on the bench (Bobby Jackson too...but I'd rather see Rashard Lewis and Pau Gasol make it in as the extra two)

True this, now if he was on an eastern team, that's a whole different story...
Fri Jan 02, 2004 3:27 am
Duncan/KG
One of them will win Mvp.
Mon Jan 05, 2004 12:44 pm
Yeah? Which players are the dark horses then?
Brad Miller should be starting when Webber comes back... A well-rested Divac would work wonders for Sacramento come playoff time...
Rashard Lewis and Pau Gasol, all-stars? Never happen...

It's too early to know who will win it but here's how all of the could:
Paul Pierce: Boston wins 45+ games, Paul Pierce averages 25pts, 7ast, 7rbs, less than 2TO, & 2stls. Chance: 1/10
VC: Same as Pierce: Chace 2/10
Peja: Everybody else on SAC dies, and they still make it to the playoffs. Chance 0/10
T-mac: Orlando makes the playoffs, he leads the league in scoring Chance: 1/10
Kobe: Hell freezes over. 4 top 50 all time on one team? Chance:0/10
Shaq: See Kobe Chance 1/10
Allen Iverson: Philly wins 45+, averages 30ppg, 6.5 apg, 4.0 rpg 3 stls less than 2TO, over 42% Chance: 5/10
TD: SA wins 60+ Chance:5/10
KG: MIN wins 50+, beats SA 3 times, NBA wakes up. Chance 7/10
Zach Randolf: Whoever said needs to read my signature

Iverson and Pierce will not get less than 2 turnovers a game.
This is how the MVP is right now.......KG 9/10 Tim DUncan 8.5/10
Everyone else, don't even bother.
