So much for having two players. Though the style of the cover is pretty much the same as the Fight Night and Madden ones. Considering EA picked Dwight based on the Magic making it to the Finals, I'm guessing LeBron would've been on the cover if the Cavs made it instead?

I'm not sure about that, I would assume the deal is in place well in advance of the announcement. Consider the cover players that have been revealed in April and haven't come anywhere near playing in the NBA Finals that year. It's not about who's in the Finals, it's who they can come to an agreement with to appear on the cover. I'd say both EA Sports and 2K Sports have had their cover players signed for a while but the way the Playoffs have gone, it's worked out well for the respective announcements to come during the NBA Finals.

This was unexpected as Dwight Howard did motion capture for NBA 2k series in the past....guess he goes where the money is....

How so? It's not like that criteria has applied to all previous cover players.

LeBron won't appear on the cover until he agrees to a price that EA Sports is willing to pay. Regardless of whether he wins a championship or not, his name carries a certain "brand recognition" and he's still one of the most marketable players in the league. It just comes down to whether EA can work out an agreement with him.
