What is the worst country in the World?

Ben suggested this and I felt it was a thread that would inevitably lead to nothing but good.

I guess I should think of a topic though to go with the humorous poll... what country have you guys never had any desire to go to? I don't mean obvious ones like Iraq or Scotland but is there anywhere that just hasn't appealed to you in the slightest?

Mine would be Thailand... my mum went there and loved it, she's constantly talking about buying me a ticket to go there because "it's something you have to experience" but I think I'd rather not go to a foreign country where I would be considered some form of tree and gradually sweat out every fluid in my body while she-males try to seduce me when I'm trying to get my karaoke on.

One of my friends went to Thailand a couple of years ago, I think he'd be on your Mum's side about it being something you have to experience.

My travel plans aren't all that exotic, I'd like to have a proper overseas vacation at some point and certainly see an NBA game over in the States but as far as places I wouldn't want to go, I'm definitely not interested in going anywhere where there's civil unrest, warfare or a significant amount of tension and dislike towards Western society. In other words, I'm sure countries in the Middle East would be fascinating to visit but I don't have the guts to brave that vacation.

I didn't know if I could call the 'Irani government' a dictatorship nor could I call the supreme leader a dictatorship. They have a 'democratic' system so I did not know if it was politically correct.

I had a great time in Scotland & I really want to go to Canada sometime soon. Same for Peru/South America, Turkey & Greek Islands, China, Vietnam, Thailand.

As for a few where I wouldn't like to go: Fiji, Netherlands (I rate the Dutch up there with the French :lol:

) & London (although have been there once, blah, never again). Whilst London isn't technically a country, I thought I'd mention that as only city in England I saw.

I think that's very evil country and that is very isolated from the rest of the world.
Of course there are also starving kids in Africa etc. I feel very bad because of them.

if you're looking for a place to stay in and be a citizen of, yeah, it's pretty much screwed here in the philippines. but several advocacy groups are now making actions and i could see that the people are urged for change in our government. i hope it's byebye for the corrupt officials come 2010. people here aren't so bad at all. they/we still care for each other and smiles are everywhere since it's all some could afford to do. and i can't argue with Laxation's statement. the Filipinos who sign up here, i mean the dickheads (if you don't count me as one) are all kids. some of them feel like they're gangsta or something that they bring the attitude here in the forums. kids here aren't so good at setting their lives and e-lives apart. if you're looking for some place to visit, the Philippines isn't a bad place at all. i'm sure you'll find people here hospitable.

That's was Ben's idea, to be honest this thread has no real point but "you should make a thread called what is the worst country in the World and all of the poll options are the philippines or canada" made me laugh enough to want to do it :lol:

. And I'm fairly certain at one point I was considered a national threat over there.

I went to Thailand last year, and I would side with Jae's perspective.

I went there thinking that it'd be like paradise with the beautiful beaches and really friendly people, but really, people were friendly to you so they can scam you any way they can. 99% of the people living there are poor. Most of the old white men are there to sleep with Thai hookers and little boys. In every damn corner, you would have a sleazy Thai retail store worker go up to you and say, "Hey boss, I got great deal for you," when they mark everything up so it's on par with I can buy here. It's not uncommon to see transexuals. Really, the people there ruined the experience, but I can see that it's poverty that drives them to take advantage of the tourism industry.

The beaches were nice, but honestly, you're better off at Ibiza or some exotic European destination where people don't try to make your experience unpleasant because you're a white tourist.

As for worst country? I don't know what I would do if I ended up in any country in South Africa.

To be honest I wouldn't go to Ibiza.. when I lived in England that was destination #1 for every fat pasty white Pom under the age of 40 who wanted to take pills and try to get laid. So it's essentially full of English people walking around with no shirt on burned to a crisp from being exposed to sunlight off their face on cheap beer and pills dancing to techno music and trying to chat up every girl within a 50 mile radius. At least that's what I imagined it to be like lol.

I really enjoyed the island of Djerba in Tunisia, and I know Morocco is supposed to have fantastic touristic places too.

But yeah, I would assume it's hard to compete with Curacao in that regard.

Well you are certainly a threat to the gangsta kids jenz referred to. Those are the kind of Pinoys who can't accept that the main reason the Philippines is one of the worst in the world is because of them.

Most Pinoys join these advocacy campaigns for a change in mentality. Some just don't care.
