If they can snag another high profile free agent (or two) it won't be a complete loss but it'll certainly be Plan B.

Regardless of playing through injury, he hasn't done it for the team in the past anyways.

I disagree. He has done a lot for the team in the past, the Rockets had a great regular season in each of the past 3 seasons and Yao missed a big chunk of them except for the 08-09 season. True, T-Mac missed a lot of games during the past 3 seasons but he carried them on his back each time Yao went down. In the 07-08 season, just when the Rockets were on a roll, Yao went down with an injury. Everyone said the Rockets are done, they were on a winning streak back then and T-Mac did not just kept the streak alive but carried them to a 22 games winning streak as well, the second longest in NBA history. The only reason why you guys say that he didn't do anything for the team is because the Rockets got eliminated in the playoffs under T-Mac. The playoffs is different from the regular season, they might survive the season with a half complete team, but the Rockets wont survive in the playoffs with T-Mac alone. Without the presence of Yao and other players stepping up the Rockets wont win a playoffs series. It's just too much for T-Mac. Kobe couldn't win a championship on his own either, he had Shaq, and now Odom, Ariza, Gasol, etc.

Then the Rockets won against Portland this year and you're saying that they play better without T-Mac. That might be true, but the Rockets as a whole were a better team this year than they were last year. Aaron Brooks emerged as one of the better point guard in the NBA, Luis Scola is now more experienced and consistent, Yao was finally healthy and Artest was there to provide plenty of help. Not only that, but they also have energy players in Wafer and Landry. Now that's a big plus. Basically, everyone stepped up their game this year when T-Mac wasn't around, unlike last year when Yao wasn't around and T-Mac had to guide them on his own. There was less help last year than there was this year. T-Mac didn't get as much help as there was this year. If T-Mac was playing alongside the Aaron Brooks, Landry, Scola, Wafer and Artest that showed up this year, the Rockets would have won a playoffs series. Because the Rockets advanced past the first round this year without T-Mac, people are now saying that the Rockets play better without him. That's not really fair on T-Mac since the supporting cast was a lot better this year than they were last year.

T-Mac takes the blame everytime the Rockets lose the playoffs, but nobody give him credits for what he had done in the regular season. If it wasn't for T-Mac, the Rockets wouldn't have made the playoffs in 2006 and they wouldn't posses that 22 games winning streak that surprises everyone. It's really unfair to put the blame on him everytime the Rockets loses a playoffs series. It's also unfair to say that the Rockets play better without him because there was plenty of help this year when he went down, but not as much help when Yao went down last year and T-Mac had to carry his team alone. I think he has done a lot for his team, but the Rockets will never win a playoffs series under T-Mac alone. One guy cant do it alone. The Rockets did advance this year but one guy didn't do it alone, there was Yao, Artest, Brooks, Scola, and more. And those players were a better players this year too. That's a big difference.

Part of the reason, the other guys were able to step their game up was because T-Mac went down and there were more ball usages for everyone else. Especially for this year, T-Mac's struggle cost Rockets earlier part of the season. He later said he was playing hurt, and I'm not sure if it was due to an injury or not, but he definitely seemed to be out of shape for sure, so I have this doubt that he isn't the same T-Mac that we used to know of. Definitely, he deserves credits for what he has done in the past, but the bottomline is they were always a first rounder untill this year. As I said earlier this year no T-Mac proved to be better than hurt T-Mac this year so I am thinking same thing can be expected for next year. There're many reasons to doubt him at this moment. As a Rocket fan myself, I'd love to see rejuvenated T-Mac, but not at the cost of others taking a significantly lesser role.

True, true. He's definitely not the same player he used to be because of all those nagging injuries, and he's without a doubt out of shape. Remember that breakaway dunk he had against Milwaukee? He blocked himself against the rim, something we would never see in a healthy T-Mac. There are also many reasons to believe that he can make full recovery though. He's only 29, he's training and rehabing harder than ever (at least that's what we heard), he will be playing in his contract year so he'll have to make a good impression and prove that he's still the type of player that can average a robust 24 points a game if he wants a good contract offer, be it from Houston or other teams. If by any chance he's back and fully recovered, he'll be more matured this time and hopefully other players wont be seeing a decrease in roles. He's always been a terrific playmaker anyway so that shouldn't be a problem.

i dont think they will pull any high profile players without lebron there. the best they will do is over pay for a guy who really should be a number 2 on a team

It's not only his knee either. He's had frequent back spasms throughout his career and it doesn't look like those will go away anytime soon too.

I guess the Rockets showed that they don't really need T-Mac anymore from their spectacular playoffs run this year. I don't think New York would pick up an injury prone T-Mac because they are rebuilding.

True, it'll be a bit tougher but barring a flurry of extensions being signed there'll be a fair few high profile players on the market that year outside the couple that tend to be drawing the most attention. I could see a disgruntled star looking to sign elsewhere, perhaps someone like Amar'e.

T-mac should`ve take one season off and get himself in to the shape, i mean good shape not goofy shape. Also, who said that only Shaq likes donuts? saw one pic of T-mac, was made hmm center of the season if i remember right, he had like man-boobs and stuf, pretty scary. NBA has enough cheerleaders already.

But yeah, Knicks could get loads of money off his contract, or IF LJB will sign with the knicks then T-mac could take less money and they could play together. If he gets himself in to the shape and plays well ofcourse, doubt that will happen but we`ll see.

Yeah, I am looking forward to T-Mac coming back. I hope he has a great comeback and an absolute killer year with the Rockets to really stuff it back in people's faces. When he is on his game, there is nobody more fun to watch.

That guy has so much talent, just remember when he was healthy in Orlando and lead the league in scoring twice I think. NY really needs a big star so in my opinion its a good move

It really is a good move for NY but I'm sure that T-Mac will not go out of Houston.

It's business out there. He's not the franchise player anymore, so they could move him, although it's up to McGrady in certain way - if he comes back 100% healthy, he might stay. But it's too early to talk about his rehab anyway.

Come to think of it, isn't there a good chance he'll miss the entire season rehabbing? If so, then it's purely a financial deal for the Knicks.
