I don't know... perhaps since it is following a similar storyline? :)

Chapter 16

Ty was at the kitchen sink. He put the half empty glass of water down on the bench. It was pitch black because it was the middle of the night. He was still sweating from the intensity of the dream he had just had.
“You need to get some help man,” his best friend Rocky had told him.
I really should, Ty thought to himself.

* * *

Ty had been pulled back to the Tar Heels bench. Duke was up by 5 points in the ACC Championship game. Whoever won this match would have bragging rights, coming into the NCAA tournament. And if the two teams would meet in the National Championship Game, then this would serve as confidence booster for the winner of the ACC tournament. Ty had started the game strong but his hot shooting cooled considerably over the second half. The young guard was frustrated and cracked after Moses Chara’s constant taunting.
“Ty, you got to sit this one out,” Coach Roy Williams ordered Ty.
“I’m going back out,” Ty was being stubborn.
“No you’re not,” Williams was firm, “Mercer, you’re in.”
Ty threw his towel on the ground and sat down in the seat with his back to the coach. Play resumed and Duke went on to win by 8 points. Weeks later, the Blue Devils would win the National Title.

Ty was still haunted by not being able to help the Tar Heels defend their NCAA title but the reasons that dramatically affected his on-court performance really distressed him the most. Only a handful of Ty’s closest friends knew of his suffering. That fact would one day come back to hurt him in the NBA.

* * *

“I’m sick of this team,” Adam Morrison said to the trainer.
Morrison had been sidelined for an extended period and he wasn’t getting along with his team mates. When he returned from injury for a short amount of time, he wasn’t getting minutes from Coach Karl. When he did start to play more regularly, he reinjured himself.
“I’m not happy with the situation,” Morrison rambled on, “Everyone is in love with the douche bag.”
The trainer shook his head, “Why are you telling me this?”
“So now even the trainer doesn’t want to listen to me?” Morrison snorted.
“All done,” the trainer had finished strapping Morrison’s ankle and got up to leave.
“Hey Adam,” Brad Miller had walked into the room, “How’s the ankle?”
“Same old…” Morrison cursed.
Miller gave Morrison a pat on the back, “Don’t worry, you will be back in no time.”
“I wish,” Morrison laughed, although not in amusement.
Miller found the bottle of sports drink he was looking for and headed for the exit but before he left he turned around and said to Morrison, “Oh, the GM is looking for you. Should I tell him you’re here?”
Morrison shrugged, “Whatever.”

Kevin Durant was exhausted after another rough training session. Coach Karl had preached being fit to the team.
“It’s going to help you play on both ends of the floor. We want to outrun other teams and we want to make them work for their buckets,” Karl explained as his assistants put the squad into fitness work.
“If you slack off, you’re only cheating yourselves!” Karl had reminded his players.
Jeff Green worked so hard that he had to rush to the side of the court and vomit into a bucket. Karl was happy that Green was pushing himself to the limit, That’s my boy. Starting spot for you. The training ended with a team scrimmage in which the grey team beat the purple team 56-43. Durant starred for the grey team with 45 of the team’s 56 points. Ty had scored 22 for the purple team.
“Hey rookie, why don’t you come over here?” Durant called over to Ty.
Ty screwed the cap back on his drink and put it down. He got up and walked over to Durant.
“What do you want?”
“You think you’re so good don’t you?” Durant asked him.
Ty looked perplexed, “Excuse me?”
“You heard me,” Durant continued, “I don’t like your attitude kid.”
“Who you calling kid?”
Durant stood up and looked down at Ty, “I’m calling you kid. Don’t forget whose team this is.”
Ty laughed, “You’re an insecure son of a…”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah, you heard me,” Ty mimicked Durant.
Durant clenched his right fist, “Don’t make me show you what I’m about.”
Ty was getting mad as well, “You think you can mess around with me?”
Durant was about to have a go at Ty before Akonnor walked back into the gym, “Hey Ty!”
Ty looked around, “Rocky.”
Akonnor saw Durant, “Hey Kev.”
“Hey Rock! What’s up man?” Durant flashed his teeth with a massive grin and walked over and gave him a fist pump.
Ty shook his head; Durant’s transformation from thug to homie was like day turning into night.
“What are you guys doing?” Akonnor asked them.
“Nothing much man, me and your man Ty were just having a talk. Weren’t we?” Durant glanced over at Ty.
Ty nodded before Durant gave Akonnor another fist bump, “I’m going to get a shower. See you at shoot around tomorrow.”
Durant left the two best friends behind in the gym.
“Hey Ty, want to come over tonight for dinner?”
Ty declined, “I’m alright man.”
“You know we’re worried about you man.”
“Don’t be,” Ty’s answer was cold as he turned to pick up his sports bag and left.

* * *

Will Sit had asked Jason Kidd to join him in his office.
“Jason,” Sit welcomed the veteran point guard.
Kidd saw Sit standing at his desk and someone sitting in the chair opposite Sit. Kidd shook Sit’s hand and sat in an empty seat next to the anonymous person. He looked over and knew who it was nearly straight away.
“I’m sure I don’t need to introduce Jason Kidd to you,” Sit smiled to the man sitting next to Kidd.
“No sir.”
Sit turned his focus to Kidd, “Jason, I hope you make Sebastian feel welcome here. He’s a valuable addition to our team.”
Kidd nodded.
“You’re going to be his tutor and help him with his game. I really need you to do this Jason because I want him to fill your shoes one day in the future.”
“I will try my best. I guess this is part of the reason why I was brought here,” Kidd said.
Sit gave him a thumbs up and asked Sebastian Telfair, “Ready for the press conference?”

Oh great, thanks, sit. Thank really...

for making KD a jackass all over again... Geez...

It seems like KD is becoming something between AI & Marbury. Hope to see him mingle better with teammates. He obviously can be a mentor or a big brother like figure to Ty.

Monthly Recap: December
Part One: Team Report, Results, League Standings

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part One of the Monthly Recap provides the league standings; divided into the two conferences. It also features the Seattle Stealth’s’ team report and schedule of games played in the last month (links are included to game recaps where applicable). Part Two will feature Player Statistics.

Team Report

Seattle endured a tough month, finishing with an uninspiring 7-8 record for December; leaving them only just hanging onto eighth place in the Western Conference. Adam Morrison was the most unlucky casualty as he did not play at all for the whole month due to two different injuries to his right leg. Kevin Durant, Brad Miller, and Chris Wilcox all spent recovery time on the sidelines.

Poor team chemistry has also reportedly been a concern for the side with internal bickering amongst some of the players. Morrison has reportedly demanded a trade while reports have surfaced concerning a rumored rift between star forward Kevin Durant and exciting young guard Reshawn Tyson. However, Stealth General Manager Will Sit has come out claiming that the reports are not true and his squad was a ‘tight-knit group’.

Injury has provided some gains for the team; allowing Jeff Green to flourish at the starting shooting guard spot and giving Reshawn Tyson a chance to show his potential. Green has been solid after scoring in double digits in all but three games for the month. Tyson has been turning a lot of heads with his scoring antics in limited game time. Tyson had five 20+ point games over the course of the month including 37 against Sacramento, 29 against Dallas, and 28 against Washington.

The road ahead for the team doesn’t look any easier though. Brad Miller is still out with a broken toe while Morrison is hurt with a bruised heel. The team has at times looked lost and despite having the League’s leading scorer in Durant (30.1 ppg), they lack a consistent second scoring option. Too many times has the team relied on the inconsistent Green and Jason Kidd, who is a great floor general but a below-average shooter. As Coach George Karl said, perhaps in a plea to the front office to make a move, “Some guys don’t want to be here and we really need someone who can score. We really need a second scorer whether they are a guard or a forward.”

Dec 3 – Sea @ Atl: 86-116

Important Notice To Readers!

I thank everyone for having followed and may still be following this association. Unfortuantely, I was not able to reach the lofty hieghts that I wanted to with this one. I don't have the time to keep it as in-depth as I would have liked.

However, I am going to try and keep this one going. The story will continue to be told. However, instead of monthly recaps, I think I will have to do trimesters (As The X has suggested) and cut a lot of detail out. I am very sorry!

NLSC players will still be featured heavily and I will continue to play as time persists. I am sorry for the irregular updates and hope you guys are still reading!
