Diop's a project who shouldn't have made the NBA until he was more than potential. Kwame is doing a little better than he was last year, but still hasn't justified his selection as the first overall pick in 2001. If Kwame was like Shawn Kemp, selected 17th overall by a team that was already a low playoff seed, it wouldn't be so bad. He would be an interesting choice, a sensible project, and expectations would be lower.
The same goes for Diop. If he was a low first round or early second round pick, it wouldn't be so bad. As it stands, he's a wasted lottery pick that could have been used on someone...anyone...who could be contributing more than he's able to contribute. Tony Parker comes to mind.
