Beta Roster v0.3

Andrew, i think that almost 90% of PG have dunk packages, Chris Paul is one of them. Also arena of New Orleans has some pink parts and 2 players and a coach of Oklahoma have pink faces, even if i am using art pack. That is what i have found, if i found anything else i will let you know.

I should have fixed the issue with the dunk packages since the 0.3 beta. I'm aware of the problems in the beta art pack but I can only do so much in that regard because graphics aren't my forte.

Andrew, one question, are you going to put retired and players who play in europe ( like Mourning or Pargo ) in free agents or they will be deleted from the game?
I think that they should be put in free agents so the people who likes to play with them can use them.

I'll handle it on a case-by-case basis. In any event, they'll still be in the database so people can reactivate them and put them in the Free Agents pool if they wish.

As I've said elsewhere, I can't do much else at this point because it's all about converting headshapes. The roster is fine, it's easy enough to update it alongside the 07 and 08 roster patches and I've worked out the issues from the betas.

I can understand you want to release the complete package of roster and art but how realistic is it to release anytime soon? I saw the list of 35 players that still needed to be converted but not all 35 players are that interesting.
Also i saw Pdub's post that every headshape from 07 and 08 needs to be converted. Is there any news or progress? Because i would also like to see another updated and fixed roster.

No news, no progress, because we're still in need of people to help out with that. That's what's keeping us from releasing this project, we need some more hands but it's just not happening. I know there are people who have put their hands up to be testers and that's great but it's really not what we need right now.

The short list of players may seem insignificant but a few of them are prominent players and not having 06 headshapes means we can't give them headbands or goggles and no matter how many release notes we write or how prominently we display them, I guarantee you we'll get complaints about how we've "forgotten" to give those players headbands or haven't put out a quality mod. Like I said, I can put something out (at least a stable roster sans art that'll work with the beta pack) but if I do a "complete" package then you'll probably just have to put up with the art issues until we get them fixed up.

Andrew, maybe it would be a good thing to release what's done so far, with things that are better than in version 0.3 and with beta art pack, so that people can play with updated roster and with less pink faces and other improved staff like dunk packages and other, and we can continue to test that new release and than it would be easier to release final version.
Maybe this would attract more people to try beta roster and eventually someone will try to help you with that head shapes problems.

That's certainly one of the things I'm considering doing. I'm hoping to get new updates for 07 and 08 out this weekend or early next week, at which point I can update the 06 rosters at the same time without too much trouble.

I think that whit rosters and upgraded art pack this game will be finished over 90% and this is very great...

Well it certainly will be playable, but there will be some bothersome things such as certain players not being able to display the headbands they've been assigned. Those are things that can be corrected though and you can safely start a Dynasty and update the art later, so hopefully it won't be an issue. At any rate, I'll be releasing updates for 07 and 08 within the next few days and I'll see what I can do with this as well.

And also people who are waiting to play in dynasty mode can play it with few minor mistakes, but important thing is that people will play it...

Well, like I said, if it's just the art then it doesn't matter because an existing Dynasty will still load the updated/corrected art.

That's actually what I meant. Because the art is no problem to update later (and take effect immediately in all game modes), so long as the roster is working fine and whatever beta art package we can put together is in place, most should hopefully find it satisfying enough in the interim.

The list of faces we need done most urgently (ie those that are actually wearing headbands) was posted earlier in this thread but here it is again:

OK, here goes.

Basically, all but a few of the faces included in the beta pack are using 07 or 08 headshapes and can't use headbands, goggles or correct hair files, so ideally for customisation purposes we need to convert all of them. However, it's not a problem for every single player since not everyone wears a headband, goggles or has a custom hair file so the following list only contains players who are currently affected by the headshape issue.

Anyone not currently on an NBA roster is low priority, starters and key bench players should have the highest priority.

btw converting 08 headshape EBO to 06 is easy, I remember last year been experimenting on this with the help of PDUB TUTORIAL, to tell u guys the truth its just as simple as copy and paste . the main problems is the headband were even though u convert it from 08 to 06 it will still not be compatible, why? I don't know the answer . The solution to that is we need to edit the headband using EBO editor to fit and I'm no expert on that sir

Andrew, are you going or did you do it already, moved players birth dates 3 years back, so the game can be more real? It would be silly to play with Durant or Javaris Crittenton who would have 17 years in the game.
I cant imagine playing Dynasty mode that way, it would be a little funny...
