Whats the best play to buy non mainstream rap (50 cent, Eminem, G-Unit, Chingy) in Melbourne ?
I went to JB Hifi in the city today and was suprised that they had pretty decent CD's there at reasonable prices, I picked up Streets Disciple (with a free poster inside
) for only $21.99. Then I checked out HMV and they they had a poster saying that Streets Disciple won't be out till the 12th of December 
What stores do you get your hip hop music from ?

I go to A&B Sound on Seymour here in Vancouver
They've got plenty of non-mainstream stuff, they even had a Wu-Tang Killer Beez mixtape once! Although I'll go to Future Shop if it's a relatively mainstream CD since they're usually a few bucks cheaper.

Do you mean talent as in ability or just songwriting talent? I'll go with ability... this is current and past... this is not in order or anything.
MetallicA: I don't care what anyone says about their new stuff, but for a band to have been going as long as they have and still sell out every arena they play in takes some doing. I read a few months ago that the Black album (which is actually called "Metallica", but nevermind) still sells 1 million copies a year. When you think about the fact that alot of new bands can't even scrape together 1 million with their hyped up debut album that's impressive. Recommended songs: Too many to list, my favourite is probably Blackened
AFI: Another band who's had alot of controversy surrounding them, mainly because of their fans. Alot of them are angry that they've departed from the punk style of their earlier work to a newer more melodic style in Sing The Sorrow. The truth is, lyrically this is probably the best band in the World at the moment. With the way Davey Havok sings it's a bit hard to understand him sometimes, but if you actually look up the lyrics they're just brilliant.: This Celluloid Dream, This Time Imperfect, The Leaving Song Parts 1 and 2, The Boy Who Destroyed The World
Muse: Holy shit these guys are good Definitely underrated, but their lead singer Matt Bellamy is a musical genius. Fantastic on guitar, great singing voice and comes up with some awesome catchy songs. They're a little bit underrated on an international scale but they kick ass live and should blow up big time at some point... blow up... I thought that was a rap thing, nevermind. Recommended songs: Plug-In Baby, Hysteria
Pearl Jam: Out of them and Nirvana, I actually prefered Pearl Jam. Eddie Vedder doesn't get enough credit for some of the amazing songs he came up with, and the band as a whole really don't get the respect they deserve these days. They've dropped off a bit recently, but with stuff like 10 they were, in their prime (and in my opinion), superior to Nirvana. Recommended songs: Why Go Home, Black, Alive, Jeremy

This is my favourite all time band along with Nirvana.

Some other bands
Hatebreed - Yes they are all abt screaming but the message they convey is very positive, of course when u listen to the sound all u hear is....ah kill kill kill....but their lyrics are very uplifting and arent creating negative vibes to suicidal teenagers.
Green Day - The best punk metal band around, they have strong moments and weak moments but they definitely have an abundance of talent.
Stone Temple Pilots - Not existing but man thier vocalist is great, only prob is that hes addiction screwed him up...but definitely they have some good shit, very talented.
Everclear - Their have similar sounding beats but I like what they sing about......
Fuel - Just like Everclear in that they have similar beats, but another amazing band.....all their songs are really well compiled shit.
Staind - They make such a big effect on ppl, well at least the stuff on Break The Cycle and before.....14 Shades Of Grey was kinda disappointing but still their one of the best bands out there.
Killswitch Engage - Also positive hardcore band, prob is their music genre doesnt get love because most bands in their genre just sing abt hate suicide and killing...these guys dont do that but none the less they get labelled.
Limp Bizkit - I dont Love them anymore....specially with their last 2 albums they put up really crappy shit.....but if u go back to the - 3 Dollar Bill, Yall - dayz they really had some funky and wackass lyrics on them.
Oasis - They are forgotten now but they were probably the biggest band out of Britain since the Beatles.....just amazing lyrics ..mostly on their "other" songs....if only Liam and Noel didnt fight they might still be here.
Chevelle - Nice stuff, one of those bands that keep getting better and better.....I like their old stuff and their new stuff because they simply know how to keep rockin.....the lyrics are very complicated and dramatic which is good to see specially with all these crappy punk and metal bands comin out.
More bands later....i gotta rest my fingers.

Led Zeppelin -

umm they just get too noisy with those guitars....and most of the time they sing about some pre-historic fantasy monster or demons or something like an irish drinking song from whose line is it anyway....
they are fathers of rock, but they are OVERRATED......Limp's not super but they got talent too.....they created a new genre.....Ozzy and Led Zeppelin and all those bands sound practically the same....they all have a lead somewhere in the song goin ne ne ne ne ....
I give them props for making metal popular but lyrics wise they dont talk about much besides "do we even care" topics.

You obviously have never listened to Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath..
I cringe when u say all they do is get too noisy with those guitars. Most of their songs are melodic or have crunching clear guitar riffs.
Its more surprising since you love deftones, whom never turn off distortion on their guitars.

Hi fellas, you guys definitely know your stuff. I'm a die hard Hip Hop head admittedly but love what rock/alternative/metal bands bring to the table, especially from a content point of view. Here's my paltry list, give me some feedback.
- Biohazard: anyone remember them? They are actually from Brooklyn and back in '92 their manager came to see a movie at the movie theater I was working in at the time. He gave myself and my homeboy one sampler each and I looked at him like he was nuts. Man, I popped the cassette into my walkman and I was HOOKED!
They had this song called "The Wrong Side of the Tracks" that literally gave me chills! Anyone know what's poppin' with them these days?
- Demolition Hammer: Any of y'all ever heard of these guys? They have this soing called "Aborticide" that from a lyrical stand point? I put right up there with Nas' Illmatic and Rakim's rhymes. I suppose they would be categorized as "Death Metal" which eventually gave way to alternative like 9 Inch Nails.
- Anthrax: When they did a record with Public Enemy back in 1990, I was amazed how much they had a grasp of the Hip Hop feel. Awesome band, no doubt.
- Guns' N' Roses: Plain and simple? Jamie's Got a Gun, Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine pretty much speaks for itself. Axel was a BEAST!
- Bon Jovi: Yeah, go ahead and laugh fellas but I'm dead serious. When I hear "Wanted Dead or Alive" I get fuckin' goosebumps dog, even today! "I'm a cowboy...."

Are people forgetting that this band is making great rock music. These guys are absolute immortals and should probably be up there with the Beatles, the Stones, and Elvis. These guys made it out of the 80s after making Joshua Tree -- often recognized as the greatest CD of the past 25 years, and came out with another masterpiece in Achtung Baby. These four men have spanned through four decades and I feel as if the younger generation of listeners isn't able to appreciate them as much as they should be appreciated.
If you look past Bono's attempt to save the world and the overplayed ITunes commericals, you will realize that this band is absolutely legendary.
Well that was my two cents. Other than that, relating to rock, I can't really say much.

I've never really got into these guys until this year. Their music appeals to me sooo much.
Being in a band and all... i can really appriciate their music. They're different and original. They didn't dare to experiment. I think i could go as far as saying their the best rock band ever. I can't believe nobody has mentoined Incubus yet.
Now THEY... are talented. I can't even explain. They're just awesome. I think people think they're a soft band because they released Drive and Are You In as singles. But they're not, they're energetic and pure awesome. I wish i could reccomend a few songs, but there are so many great songs that are great in different ways that i don't know which ones that i could list to generalise them.
I'll try: Pardon Me, Just a Phase, Idiot Box, Sick Sad Little World, Megalomaniac, The Warmth, Under My Umbrella, Circles.
I went to one of their concerts and the drummer did an amazing drum solo.
he's my idol. Such an awesome drummer.Another band that i love right now are Rage Against The Machine. Man, if you want a band who's lyrics have meaning, RATM are your band. All they sing (or yell/rap) about his politic stuff. I don't really listen to the lyrics though, i'm more in the love with their guitar and bass riffs. They're just awesome. Recomend some songs: Killing in the Name, Bullet in the Head, Know Your Enemy, Freedom, People Of The Sun, Bulls On Parade, Testify.

Another band who's not really too meaningful, or worth legally buying is Audioslave. They are however, worth downloading some of their stuff... you know, just to see if they're any good.

Now THEY... are talented. I can't even explain. They're just awesome. I think people think they're a soft band because they released Drive and Are You In as singles. But they're not, they're energetic and pure awesome. I wish i could reccomend a few songs, but there are so many great songs that are great in different ways that i don't know which ones that i could list to generalise them.

I went to one of their concerts and the drummer did an amazing drum solo.

Their having a revival album, cant remember the name but it could be good but sometimes when old bands comeback they dont make the best of em.

Argh, few of his songs r good but dunno I think hes prolly produced one of my most hated songs, "Its My Life"....I feel like breaking the radio when I hear that.
Incubus is nice, I really prefer their older stuff.....heavy and more out there....but their a good band too althought Brandon Boyd is putting some terrible hairdos of late.

I've never really got into these guys until this year. Their music appeals to me sooo much. Being in a band and all... i can really appriciate their music. They're different and original. They didn't dare to experiment. I think i could go as far as saying their the best rock band ever.
Sweet, whats your role in the band....Im in a band too, the vocalist(and Im not saying that to avoid ppl askin me guitar tabs and drum kit stuff).

Hmm whats your guys view of Velvet Revolver????.....their probably one of most talked abt Bands of current although the STP vocalist(always forget his name) looks totally anorexic in the videos.
