Dear LiveJournal,

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Why does no one ever listens to benji. No one.

Prepare now because every single scumbag professor you have will decide that a select two weeks (if not one week) are where you need to do every single important paper or assignment and don't worry, you won't do them before, neither will anyone else and they know this. They get off on it. They might even throw you an exam.

Who said I didn't listen to him? That kind of shit happened in high school, and last semester too. It's just that every teacher decided to give their incredibly long (not difficult, just really long) assignments on the same day AT SHORT NOTICE. At about 4:00, I basically gave up (I was about 3/4 done) and went to sleep. In the waist-deep trash in my room.

I have the short notice assignments/exams to look forward to pretty soon. It's kinda weird that I'm going as a mature age student; I'll just have to ask a lot of questions and give life advice to the people 8 years younger than me

Went to Big Day Out yesterday. Even though I was really cynical about this one, I still ended up having a good day. Best act of the day was Battles. Soundgarden played okay, but they were having sound problems. Kanye West was awesome... when he came out. He was 45 minutes late because apparently rain damaged some of his gear. It was amazing how people were gradually starting to turn on him and started calling him and asshole (amongst a few slightly racist things), but as soon as he came out, all was forgiven.

Speaking of racist, I also saw Das Racist as well. They were pretty fun.

My idea of mature age students:

1. Sit in front row
2. Keep asking/answering questions
3. Look way too interested in their studies
4. Always prepared for class
5. Get really really good marks

Will you tick all the boxes Kenny?

After a very long time, I finally got to see Rise Against in concert. That was a really good show. ADTR was really good too. The pit got pretty crazy.

I see that Sit's azn part is alive and well with those ideas of his.
To counter Sit's idea with what I had experienced (directly or indirectly)...

1. Unless you have an eye condition like hyperopia and you don't want to wear glasses in class.
Better yet, you think the entire room is a fire hazard and considering the number of students in that class, you sit near the door or working fire exit.
2. Unless it's a dumb question (on your part) because you don't read what you're supposed to read or the question is too stupid (on the instructor's part) that you can't possibly honor it with an answer.
3. Superficial. You don't have to feign interest when you already know a subject or the instructor is a moron or both.
4. At least you got this one right.
5. There are/will be people who have really really good marks than you but seems to be a drooling moron when you put them outside the classroom setting.

1) I generally don't sit in the front row for anything unless I've paid for front row seats... but I will try to fulfil this one.
2) I think I'll inadvertently do this, but make a conscious effort not to.
3) I'm actually very excited about starting... but in my previous job I was working under conditions that are actually against OH&S law, so I'm probably more excited about not having to work in the printing industry.
4) I always try to be prepared, but I'm one of those guys who just about always asks to borrow a pen and steals it inadvertently.
5) Remains to be seen, but if high school is an indicator, I'll probably be the middle of the pack.

I shall do my best to work on all fields I might be lacking in as far as my mature age student credentials are concerned

I saw Rise Against with Sick of it All last year just before my birthday. Rise Against played really well, I just wished they played more from the Unravelling album. I'm not completely opposed to their new stuff, but I find their older stuff is where it's at for me :)

Yes, it's a bit of an epidemic at the moment but we're hoping to have it sorted soon.

Agreed. They didn't play anything from the Unraveling and they only played one from RPM. They played a good 20 songs though, including a lot from Siren Song and Sufferer & Witness. They played most of the best (read: heaviest) songs from their latest albums as well.

I was pretty let down when they didn't play State of the Union. That is my one and only complaint. Amazing show. (Y)

A couple of friends are hosting a BBQ for Australia Day tomorrow, so that's where I'll be most of the day. I'll have to catch the replay of Clippers/Lakers in the evening.

Evidently this is what the flu feels like even though I already got a flu shot...

Wow that took a while. You got one last year, right? The flu shot is supposed to give you the flu within days.

When I saw them, I was happy that they played Prayer of the Refugee, because that song is pretty badass. I guess my favourite songs from them are Like the Angel, Great Awakening and 1000 Good Intentions. I can understand why they don't play them now, but I wish they would nonetheless.

I got the shot a couple months or so ago (because there is a pregnant lady in the house), so yes "last year", and I did get a little sick from it but this is completely different. It's like the flu, but flu "lite".

So -- this girl (we have common friends) likes The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Daft Punk, hell -- she even knows who Lil Wayne, LeBron James and Blake Griffin are. Advice? It's not too difficult of a decision :P

Give her The Gift.

Had a haircut and the barber trimmed my moustache. :cussing:
Granted it's not as glorious as Ron Swanson's but it already had considerable thickness to it.
I wasn't able to complain at that moment because it was so sudden and you don't argue with a man who's holding a sharp scissor/blade that's inches away from your throat.

Other than that grievous error by the barber, he did a good job. Got a scalp massage when he used that funky looking brush. Even my shirt was free of tiny pieces of cut off hair save for a few ones that I can easily remove myself, which isn't the case when I usually get a haircut. So for now I'll let that blunder with my moustache pass because of his good service.
