Yes, a game that you get with PlayStation Plus is yours to keep, as long as you maintain an active subscription.

I have a nba live 15, nba 2k15 & call of duty and that is all I play on when I have the time lol
I felt like this about my XBox 360. I bought the NBA and WWE games every year, and that was pretty much it. And 2k9 was the last year I got the console version of even the NBA game.
So I figured it'd be a complete waste to buy a PS4 and do pretty much the same thing and barely use it, so I did a lot of Googling around for 'top PS4 games' lists. And now, between that and PS+, I have more games than I'll ever be able to play.
Dommy73 wrote:PS4 offers these free games if I pay for the membership (which as I understand is mandatory for both consoles if I want to play online) so that might be more interesting. Is that like EA's "On the House"? Like you get it once and it's yours forever? Does XOne has similar thing with their program?
Both Microsoft and Sony have the same thing. Each month, there's a selection of free games for those with a paid online subscription (which, yes, is required to play online). With Sony, as long as you add it to your library during the month it's available, it's yours as long as your subscription is active. If your subscription lapses, and you re-subscribe later, you'll regain access to any free games you'd previously acquired.
I'm fairly sure Microsoft's system works the same way, but I haven't really looked into it much.

I suppose that isn't exactly... hard.
Pdub wrote:I read that it didn't help people much in terms of performance.
I guess it depends on how the game is made. NBA 2K15 on PC has these big archives, so we still had to load the whole thing and extract needed files. So that effectively cancels effects of SSDs.
http://www.pcper.com/reviews/General-Te ... ce-TestingSSD shown to improve performance, but not drastically.
Why you shouldn't upgrade to an ssd

SSDs are expected to make price per gigabyte parity with HDDs in less than 2 years. Will be more interesting then.

That seems a bit of an odd article. Would there really be that many people considering replacing the HDD with an SSD and
not getting a larger drive? It only really looks at half the question, and the title further ignores the third option of a hybrid.
I've got a 2TB hybrid in my PS4. Didn't really have the console long enough before installing it to get used to load speeds, so I didn't really notice whether there was any difference. My main concern was disk space anyway.
And it's less relevant now that the PS4 has suspend/resume, although of the three games I've played since the feature was introduced only one supported it, and that came out after the feature was announced.
Tue Jul 21, 2015 7:13 am
I read ps4 only uses sata2, which has a maximum of 300 mb/s. That's probably why ssd doesn't improve performance much.
Tue Jul 21, 2015 7:37 am
Bandwith throughput of SATA 2 is 300 MBps.
Speed of WD Blue (today's standard consumer HDD) is around 200 MBps for reading and and 180 MBps for writing (averages from user experience).
Samsung 850 EVO (250GB) which is today's go-to mainstream SSD has speeds of 515 and 425 MBps respectively.
So yeah, SATA 2 is limiting SSDs in speed, but there should be around 33% increase in reading speed alone. And SSDs have constant access times unlike HDDs, which gotta rotate.

Donny, I would connect via hdmi and your headset plugs into the controller using the 3.5mm jack

Battlefield bruh
Tue Jul 21, 2015 6:56 pm
I had Battlefield when I had my ps3 and CoD was a Christmas present from the wife, Did prefer battlefield to be honest tho...
Tue Jul 21, 2015 7:02 pm
Battlefield has solid playerbase on PC. Not really a priority for me

But CoD has more players on consoles (thanks, codtracker) and sometimes I just like short 10 minutes matches. In battlefield match can last over hour...
Tue Jul 21, 2015 7:08 pm
I hate playing shooting games in consoles. My ranks in PC were very high but I can't even get a positive K/D in consoles.
Tue Jul 21, 2015 8:47 pm
I will be switching to Starwars Battlefield this fall anyway!

Battlefield hardline is different. If you play official servers, they are definitely shorter games
The 5 v 5 modes can be super quick if one team gets swept
Wed Jul 22, 2015 1:53 pm
Yeah, but honestly, when I want to play 5v5 "competitive"... I play CS.
BTW since we talk about battlefield... Is it the same tacticless clusterfuck on consoles?
Wed Jul 22, 2015 3:13 pm
A little, but the objective based games have a little more structure to them. It's nowhere near as bad as Call of Duty in that respect.
Mon Jul 27, 2015 1:49 pm
Just to update you all, I bought the 1TB console with Batman: Arkham Knight. I also put a preorder on Fallout 4 and bought a year's subscription to PS+.
Thanks for all the help guys

Now I just need to decide: NBA Live 16 or NBA 2K16.
Mon Jul 27, 2015 4:06 pm
Because not everybody has a fuck ton of cash to afford both games.

fixed, for all of the adults here
Mon Jul 27, 2015 9:15 pm
I say both if you can afford it, otherwise more previews are right around the corner.
Mon Jul 27, 2015 11:11 pm
Major issue for me getting both is variety. I'd rather buy one and have a second completely different game. If it were 2k/Live and NBA Jam, however, that'd be a different story.
Plus I kind of like going all in on the one game.
Tue Jul 28, 2015 12:43 am
Understandable. While I think there'll be some overlap, presuming you find the gameplay for both appealing, I think each will have some different strengths in terms of the modes.
Tue Jul 28, 2015 9:19 pm
If you have committed to the ps4 & ps+ then you might as well get both games and not be forced to choice one or the other.
Just try and cut back on something like drinking for a few months like I do right before games and league pass renewal
Tue Jul 28, 2015 10:03 pm
So... I have decided to pull the trigger on the PS4 purchase.
So far so good, got several games with the purchase, downloaded the rocket league and applied for the NLSC drive club.
Now the dilemma arises - NBA 2K16. Which platform should I get?

PC version will surely look somewhat better, but PS4 could have more players and it should have less cheaters and script kiddies.

The biggest way I spend money is probably through eating out and getting fast food. Drinking isn't so much an issue for me (I know, I suck at being Australian). I'll drink a glass of wine every now and then, but that's the extent of it for me.

Nice

Rocket League is a lot of fun. I've spent more time on that than I have with Arkham Knight. It's not that Arkham Knight isn't a great game, but at the moment I'm doing night classes and I don't like to get too committed to games when I have to be diligent with my study.
As for NBA 2K16, I'm sure there will probably be more of a community element on PS4, which would be fun (even if I'm not much of an online gamer).
