Its not like most of Seattle gives a shit about the Sonics anyway. Let them go to a place where they are actually appreciated.

Portland's most likely to move next. They've been having problems with making money.

Maybe if you actually lived in Seattle you might understand a little better. The reason Seattle doesnt give a lot of money to the Sonics is because they're a losing team. Had they had the playoff run they had last season this season, I dont think we'd be talking about the Sonics moving.

The Mariners came of a wonderful playoff season and asked for a new Stadium and Safeco field was built. Soon thereafter they won the record 118 games. The Seahawks had a solid playoff season, then had their new Stadium and soon thereafter went to the Superbowl. The Sonics just arent tasting the same success the other Seattle Franchises had. Of course the Mariners suck now, but went they wanted money they were one of the top teams in the league.

All I can say is I hope to god the Sonics don't move, but They probably will unless they start winning. The "M's Fever" is still in the back of everyones mind from their days with Lou Pinella, and of course the Seahawks are on top after going to the Superbowl. The Sonics are a distant third, they have to become more popular if they want more money.

They've been having money problems because of an idiotic owner (Paul Allen, who also owns the company my fiance is a corporate trainer for, which is also losing tons of money), and in turn unlikable, overpaid, underachieving players because of bad management from ownership down a few levels.

The hiring of McMillan, this year's draft moves, and the (hopeful) trade of Darius Miles will help incredibly.

They won't move. The Portland Trailblazers are somewhat of an icon- three poor seasons after however many years as perrenial playoff contenders will not kill the franchise here.

Anyway, I think San Francisco, San Diego, Tampa Bay, and Baltimore should be candidates...

If New Jersey does move to Brooklyn (please god, no...) then I think they should get another one...

Thats true but i dont think that cali should have 4 teams, thats rediculous, florida has miami and orlando, Maryland is small so it doesnt really matter, then you gonna have to give a team to new hampshire and vermont.

Any teams in missouri, or mississippi

Hey, stfu, Maryland has got the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, (though note how they both suck), all we need is a basketball team to complete the circle.

Maryland is abig basketball state, weve got the

Terrapins (2002 National Championship, thats right, all you other colleges, read it and weep)

George Washington
Georgetown
Now, George Mason

D.C. is basically Maryland, so weve got the Wizards

and hey, Maryland is much more popular than Montana, Montana doesnt have a single sports team, anysport

Dont diss Maryland

TERRAPIN PRIDE

The title of this thread is deceiving. Nobody said Sonics are moving anywhere.

Sonics Sold To Oklahoma City Group
18th July, 2006 - 3:52 pm

Seattlepi.com - An Oklahoma City group has agreed to buy the Seattle SuperSonics and the Seattle Storm.

In February, majority owner Howard Schultz threatened to possibly move or sell the city's oldest major league professional sports franchise, saying the team has lost about $60 million in the past five years

The team scheduled a 3 p.m. press conference to officially announce the sale. Sources indicate the new ownership group plans to keep the Sonics and Storm in the Seattle region.

San Francisco already has a team - Golden State Warriors. However, Las Vegas, San Diego and OKC would still be great cities to have a franchise in, but I think 30 teams is more than enough.

And although the announcement will say the new owners will try to make a go of it in Seattle, they could move the team to Oklahoma City as soon as the 2007-08 season. Even though the lease at KeyArena runs through 2010, the city has claimed it loses money every time the Sonics play — so some sort of buyout could be made in the near future.

So they're going to try it out in Seattle and if the franchise revenues continue the disappointing trend that they're following right now, they'll move from Seattle.

I didnt mean we should add another team, just that if another team was to move, those would be good destinations...

St. Louis needs a basketball team. They should make two new teams and put the league up to 32.

NFL has 32 teams so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

The league is watered down enough, is it possible to have thinner rosters than we already have? Sure, add two more teams and your goal is achieved.

Warriors, Clippers, Lakers, Kings.. uh oh.

Anyway most of the mentioned city/areas already have a team really close, but I think Las Vegas is an obvious candidate and I think St. Louis or somewhere else around that Midwest area wouldn't hurt (like KC).

In theory 32 teams wouldn't really hurt since there's enough talented players around that missed the cut in the NBA to fill out 32 15-man rosters, but that's just in theory since the talent isn't equally spread through the NBA.

I thought they were from Oakland...not San Francisco, but whatever. Those two cities are very close to each other so it doesn't really matter.

I think Montreal could support a team, but it sounds like the destinations of any team moving are already decided. I doubt a team will end up in Vegas, too many possible problems.

New Jersey's known for being a sports deathtrap, which is why teams (like the Nets) barely sell tickets and leave the state often.
