I guess the league is trying to help the black community.. since many follow NBA Stars as role models...by making NBA players more professional looking (must come to games looking decent) and now less things to distinguish themselves from everyone in the game making them focus more on the game than what they wearing.

I honestly dont even notice any of that stuff when the game is going on and I doubt the players do either so I dont see how its distracts/disrupts anyone/anything.

In football you got guys like Edgar Davids with his stylish goggles or players like Ronaldinho with his thick nike headband. Many tennis players dress outrageous also (too often to point out). Rugny players are nute, I dont notice anything they have on under all the blood and guts. At least baseball guys get to wear jewelry (chains are what I notice)....so do cricketers.

To me just let the guys wear what they wanna wear as long as it isnt overly ovending a vast majority of viewers. Times/cultures change and you gotta give them some room for expression. We arent in the 90s or 80s anymore.

Basketball is a team sport, so the players actually have to look like they are a team.
I guess since a lot of the 'teams' no longer play like teams, Stern just wants them to look like a team. But anyway, I don't see why they can't wear arm bands on their elbows or biceps.

Also, the change of attire is probably not something new. Jordan used to wear a chain around his neck, but after a while he didn't, wasn't there some sort of rule added to stop players doing that? This rule change is probably in that category.

To answer that question, all you have to do is check out your local street and/or youth basketball games. You're bound to see handfulls of kids donning the similar band/sleeve styles of their favorite players. I'm not saying it's a bad thing -- but the styles are reaching their audience; people are certainly paying attention, whether they realize it or not.

Pretty disappointing, just like people mentioned more power than improvement here. I only agree with the warm-ups rule, speeding up of the game and technicals for excessive whining. I didn't mind the AI sleeves, but they were with uniform colours generally....I just didn't like the stupid leg length black tights on both legs....players from Wade to Bogut to any chump were wearing them....if they want to be speed skater, then they can change sports....if they want to play basketball, lose those speed skater black tights....

Davids = Some form of glaucoma (sp?), some eye condition. Plus, I'm sure those goggles don't really help him, blocks of peripheral vision perhaps.

Ronnie = Think about it this way: Ronnie is the current MJ of soccer. He can do what he likes. Plus, head bands in soccer can not be compared to headbands in the NBA.

Tennis = individual sport. No team based attire needed. It's a fashion based sport (*cough).

Baseball = non-contact sport (except when they're not fighting), so jewellery doesn't matter.
