Breakers are struggling in the NBL...

Fri Dec 30, 2005 9:30 pm

the nbl is lame. i would follow it but i dont have foxtel and it took me a year to get to grips with the nba
i go tigers but dont know a single player there. all i know is that theyre finals candidates

Wed Feb 08, 2006 9:37 pm

man... bullets lost... maybe cause we were giving that David Bailey guy a lot of shit... he responded to our booing with like 5 threes (N)

Ah well...

Thu Feb 09, 2006 8:03 am

The Pirates' elimination game is on Fox tonight so I'll probably be watching that.

Thu Feb 09, 2006 11:14 am

last nights game between the bullets and wildcats was the worst officiated game i have ever seen with 13 bad calls 8 where in the first 16-20 minutes of the game.

Thu Feb 09, 2006 4:13 pm

theres something wrong when the other team gets to the foul line about 20 times more than the home team (N) it was quite bogus

Thu Feb 09, 2006 8:34 pm

That'll do it for the Pirates for this year and possibly for good. Seems the Hunter will once again be without a club due to a lack of funds.

Thu Feb 09, 2006 8:36 pm

can somebody tell me how the Tiges are doin..thanks (Y)

Thu Feb 09, 2006 8:38 pm

Geelong Supercats should be back allowed back into the NBL.

Jamal Brown :headbang: Jamie Medved :headbang: Nick Owusu :headbang:

You bring up a good point Jugs. The problems plaguing the NBL are nothing new.

Thu Feb 09, 2006 9:01 pm

You have to have a token Jugs-supported team in the league

Wed Mar 01, 2006 5:47 pm

Just wanted to say... Sydney's dynasty is over... congrats to the Tigers.

Wed Mar 01, 2006 6:38 pm

Congrats to the Tigers, though I was hoping it would be the NSW club to take home the honours...plus four in a row would have been something. Still, 3 titles in 4 years and 4 straight appearances in the Finals is nothing to scoff at.

A real blunder at the end of Game 2 though, running out the clock when they had a chance to win in regulation. :(

Well.. this new Souths Dragons club looks intriguing haha

Mark Price as Head Coach.. just asking, did the team sign Jason Everstein?

I remember him in Bris VEgas... 7'0" dude but was part of the reserves/d squad type thing.

I was reading today that they may be bringing Shane Heal out of retirement and signing Frank Drmic

wow... I heard of Bruce Palmer... coaches my mate at school hehe

Anyways... the Hammer is old. I sent an email to Dragons to get Keydren Clark... they probably classified it as spam! :)

Matthew told me about that the other day, shame Hunter is gone from the comp. Severely decreases my chances of meeting a former NBA All-Star. Interesting that Heal will be making a comeback.

Sun Apr 09, 2006 8:54 pm

Yep, the Hammer has officially returned, signing a one year deal with the Dragons.

Heal to lead Dragons

The South Dragons' inaugural Philips Championship campaign will be led by one of Australia's best ever players, four-time Olympian and 363-game NBL veteran Shane Heal.

The 35-year-old, who retired from domestic basketball after winning the 2003 Championship with the Sydney Kings and from international competition after leading the Australian Boomers at the Athens Olympics in 2004, has signed a one-year deal to captain the new Melbourne franchise.

Three years to the day after scoring 23 points in the Kings' championship-sealing Game 2 victory over the Perth Wildcats - his last NBL appearance - Heal talked about the challenge which has brought him out of retirement.

"I had to have a lot of boxes ticked - from family, to schools, to business, to having a good quality team to be able to play with - but one thing that certainly helped was the Commonwealth Games final, New Zealand-Australia," he explained.

"Walking in to Vodafone Arena with 10,000 people and knowing that was going to be the home court. I think that's going to be very exciting for all Dragons fans."

He's had more comebacks than Michael Jordan. Should be good for the Dragons though.

Sun Apr 09, 2006 9:35 pm

Any other players on that team?

Mon Apr 10, 2006 2:48 pm

Heal joined fellow Dragons recruits Frank Drmic, Jacob Holmes, Matt Shanahan and Joe Ingles meeting the media at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on Thursday.

Given the talent of those first five signings, neither Heal nor Dragons chairman Mark Cowan shied away from setting high expectations for the club.

Mon Apr 10, 2006 3:44 pm

Shane Heal is the only name on that list that I recognise.

Mon Apr 10, 2006 4:11 pm

That's actually a nice team. Drmic, Holmes and Shanahan are all good players. I have no idea who Joe Ingles is though.

Mon Apr 10, 2006 8:15 pm

Good to see Tovey, another local youngster with plenty of talent, leaving perth for better opportunities elsewhere (Y)

Mon Apr 10, 2006 9:51 pm

Souths added a sixth player... Adam Quick. A PG who averaged about 5ppg in limited gametime for the Crocs. He's a young one...

Seems like the team might be decently competitive...

Anyways.. anyoen able to fill me in on Shane Heal's commentary skills as compared to Gaze? :P
