Shaq was at his best in LA and if they do he should accept just to give the LA fans a chance to say thanks regardless of what happened with you and ownership. He was by far his best as a Laker.

Yes the actual league retired Wayne G's number 99. I think Stern should have done the same for MJ. This prevents anyone else from wearing 23. It's too late now since many good players Lebron, JRich... wear 23.

Yes, simply because he played most of his career there, and he brought the Lakers to some championships and a "dynasty" tag.

Ofcourse they should. He (along with Bryant and a great supporting cast) brought LA 3 championships. He received Finals MVP's in all three of them and even got a normal MVP during his stint with LA. I'd be appalled if they didn't retire it.

maybe they will start wearing 100-999 numbers and then in another 100 years 1000-9999 numbers and so on.....

Perhaps special provisions will be made. I'm pretty sure the Celtics have retired at least one jersey in honour of two players, Dave Cowens being one of them.

The whole thing with players not being allowed to wear the numbers that have been retired is a good idea.. although you have to remember that not many Jerseys are retired... like if you look around in the arenas you wont see that many.. so its still gonna be a long time till we have to worry about chosing numbers
