You're partially right, but you have to look farther back in the playoffs to see who really was the most important player to the team. Reggie single handedly (with a little help from Travis Best

) got the team out of the first round series against Milwaukee. Jalen Rose put up decent numbers, but played awful defense and took some bad shots in the clutch. That's why he was on the bench at the end of game 5.
Then in the second round, Jalen and Reggie put up the memorable 40 points each in game 1, but after that Jalen disappeared. Especially during the Reggie/Matt Geiger fight. Mark and Dale were right at his side helping and Jalen was nowhere to be found.
Game 3 of the ECF was the most telling. Reggie has proved over and over again to be able to pull off 4th quarter comebacks, but with Jalen in that position, he failed. Yes, he scored 22 points in the quarter, but the stats are misleading. He didn't make the shots he needed to, and seemed to be resting himself on the other side of the floor. Then in game 6 it was MILLER who scored 34 points with 17 in the 4th to seal the teams trip to the finals.
