Great. Do we not have enough to do here in this forum so we have to always resort to these little trick-threads? That signing was maybe just as important as Devin what's-his-name.

Right. My first though after seeing this was: "Lakers sign Elton John". :?

Am I missing something here? The only big-name Elton out there I can name is Brand. But he isn't a free agent.

Yeah I'm not sure how this was meant to fool people lol... unless it was like "Lakers trade for Elton". Anyway, will have no impact.

Oh yeah...the host from Iron Chef America. But it's not like the Lakers are gonna sign him, unless Kobe is whining about a lack for a team chef.

Los Angeles, CA (ESPN) - The Los Angeles Lakers announced today that they have signed songwriter and music artist Elton John to a multi-year deal to play at their home games. In addition to his music duties, he will also be playing as a part time player for the Lakers. It is assumed that he will be getting minutes at the point guard position backing up sophomore Jordan Farmar.

"I enjoy his music and it will certainly be a pleasure playing with him if he can share the ball. Atleast he'll be more use than the rest of the crap I got here. Hope he can run the backdoor cut well enough and passes the ball to me when I want it," said Lakers superstar guard Kobe Bryant.

To which Elton replied "the backdoor cut is easy enough as I've practised it many times. I certainly don't mind playing rough when it comes to that need, especially when it's Kobe. Of course, if Phil wants me to run it with others too, I wouldn't mind it also. Though if Kobe doesnt want to share the ball, I guess we'll need to have multiple balls on the court because the more that get to touch the balls, the merrier."

Yeah...I know this sucked...was my first time, atleast I gave it a go... :shifty: *hides in corner to avoid all the insults that are going to be hurled at me*

On the contrary, I think it will restore Kobe's confidence in the Lakers' front office.

By signing a guy who may turn out to be just as important as Devin Green? I don't think Kobe will be too happy seeing his team sign no-name players. Then again, at least Smush is gone.

I sure hope the Lakers can find out a way to get Elton John to be in two places at once; he's got a concert in Illinois on the 12th of October, a Laker home game against GS.

I meant that statement to be tongue-in-cheek. I don't actually think it's a grand move that will appease Kobe and allay his concerns that the Lakers aren't committed to building a championship team. ;)

Camp fodder.

Mitch signed him so that Bynum can practice beating him up in the post.

But im really hoping that this guy beats Coby Karl and his huge forehead for the last roster spot..

lton Brown is the D-League Performer of the Week for April 23, 2007. This is the first Performer of the Week honor for Brown, who was named First Team All-D-League for the 2006-07 season. He joins Von Wafer as a member of the Colorado 14ers who has earned Performer of the Week this season.

This week, Brown led the Colorado 14ers into the D-League Championship Game with wins over the Albuquerque Thunderbirds and the top-seeded Idaho Stampede. The 6-9 forward opened the week by scoring 28 points with 11 rebounds in the 14ers' 130-100 win over Albuquerque in the first round of the Western Division Playoffs. Brown returned to lead the 14ers in Friday's 94-91 win on the road in Idaho, scoring a team-high 26 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.

Over the first two games of the playoffs, Brown is averaging 27.0 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting .511 (23-45) from the field. He has played 92 out a possible 101 total minutes for Colorado in their first two playoff games.

Brown started all 50 games for the 14ers during the regular season, leading Colorado to a 28-22 record in their first D-League season. He was the D-League's leading rebounder with 9.6 per game and also ranked eighth in scoring, averaging 18.4 points per game.

Brown played college basketball at Virginia and was the first overall pick in the 2006 D-League Expansion Draft . He spent 2006 preseason training camp with the New York Knicks.

Laker fans have to love Mitch Kupchak. Kobe demands for help and Mitch gets him Fisher, Coby Karl, Larry Turner and Elton Brown.

Expect Kobe to take back his trade demand in few days.
