I also think they mean close to nothing, but when a player can't get a break and have the draft stock he should because of a "bad" freshman season, the results he had should definately help.
Take a look at Thaddeus vs. two of the highest projected swingmen - Corey Brewer and Jeff Green.
Thaddeus is a 1/4 inch shorter than Brewer and 2 inches shorter than Green.
Thaddeus weighs 25 more pounds than Corey and 18 pounds less than Green.
Thad's wingspan is 3 1/4 inches bigger than Brewers, 1 3/4 inches shorter than Greens.
Thaddeus has a standing reach 3 inches higher than both Green and Brewer.
Thad's body fat percentage is 1.2 higher than Greens, 0.7 higher than Brewers.
Thaddeus jumps 4 inches higher than Brewer, 1 inch higher than Green (Standing vert).
Thad jumps 1/2 an inch higher than Brewer and 1 inch lower than Green (max vertical).
Thaddeus is stronger than Brewer, weaker than Green.
Thaddeus is consirably more agile than both Brewer and Green.
Thaddeus is faster than both Brewer and Green.
So Thaddeus has all these physical tools that are ahead of both Green and Brewer for the most part, however, the skills that really matter aren't that far off either.
In my opinion if Thad's ballhandling with his off hand was improved, he would of been a 20 point scorer and a lock for the top 5 or so. Remember when he, Durant and Brandan Wright were essentially considered equal before the season started, all sitting behind Oden on the draft boards?
I read Thaddeus played mostly in the post in high school, so he really only been playing the wing for a year, hence the shabby ballhandling that basically destroys his slashing ability. Give him another year in college and I think he will be a player of the year candidate. But it's not like he can only get better in college, he could go straight to the NBA and learn from the best, becoming better - quicker.
Just remember Thaddeus "dissappointing" freshman season numbers were leaps and bounds ahead of Brewer's and on par with Greens. Who knows what he would of been putting up as a Junior, but I would bet on it being better than both of these guys.
