My Player Skills Question

Sun Dec 26, 2010 8:01 pm

So I'm trying to create a center with my new player. I made him huge 7'5'' and I want to play basically like Shaq back in the day, push in under the basket and score off little layups or dunks. I had a number of questions about what some of the skills mean and how useful they are to this type of player.

1) Shot Inside: Does this effect things like layup and other shots really close o the basket?

2) Shot Close: What's the difference from Shot Inside? Can one shot check against multiple skills?

3) Shot Lowpost: Again what's the difference between this and the last two?

4) Layup: How does this differentiate from the other skills? If I shoot a shot really close to the basket will it check a couple of skills like Lowpost, Inside, and Layup to determine sucess?

5) Standing Dunk: Besides when you get a rebound just under the basket when else would you ever do a standing dunk? Is this really useful?

6) Shoot in Traffic: Will I need this to dunk or layup over a defender?

7) Shoot of Dribble: Will I need this to dunk or layup when I back in towards the basket?

8) Ball Handle: Will I need any of this or is this just for the fancy ISO moves?

9) How important are Ball Security and Hands?

10) Offensive Lowpost: What does this effect?

11) Defensive Lowpost: What does this effect?

12) On Ball Defense: How useful is this to stop other player under the basket?

13) Quickness: People always talk about how a lot of Shaq's success was due to how quick he was but does my center need this in 2k11?

14) Strength: Will this help with defense inside?

A few non-skill questions also:

15) Besides backing up to the basket (LT and RT) and that step through move (LT and shot stick fast once then normal) what other moves are there to get into the basket?

16) Is there a limit to how many season you can play in My Player?

17) Is it normal that every team I'm on seems to go through seven coaches a year?

18) Do you have any other advice for making a center?

I know that's a lot thanks a bunch.

1.) Shot inside is under the basket. or just around it, it doesn't really effect layups, because layups are in-motion moves, like driving to the basket, or a fast break.

2.) This is different because its in the paint, further away from the "inside" type shot. This is more of a hook shot, or a tear drop.

3.) This is getting close to the basket, but posting up. like Dwight Howard backing in, then turning and slamming.

4.) Layups are an in-motion shot, like blowing past a defender, or a fastbreak.

5.) Like layups, dunks are in motion too. The skill for dunking, is for literally the skill of how good you are at actually putting your hand in the rim, and dunking it. Standing dunk is aside from that, very useful in a center position. Catch, power dribble, and (standing) dunk. Upgrade that.

6.) You'll need this too. 90% of the time you're down-low, you're gonna have traffic on you, not just your defender.

7.) This is for shooters. Drift shots, catch-dribble-shoot type shots. you wont need it.

8.) This effects the types of dribble moves your guy can do. you're going to want "Ball Security" so you don't get stripped.

9.) Hands is catch, and ball security is keeping it.

10.) Backing down in the post.

11.) Defending in the post.

12.) Not really.. this is more of a LeBron guarding Rondo scenario.

13.) It could help. Its like a difference between Shaq, and Dwight. Dwight's quicker. It'll help. FAST DON'T LIE. Haha

14.) Big time, and backing down.

15.) Not a whole lot. Experiment in practice mode with Shaq and Dwight and see how that goes.

16.) I'm in my 2nd, i have no idea how much further..

17.) Haha, I don't know that one either.

18.) Pass a lot to the outside shooters, or the PF nearby.

Hope this helps, (Y) :)

Thanks for the answers that helps a lot. I actually found that the max quickness for the 7'5'' big man is 65.

Yeah, they do that for some players. The most shot inside for my PG is an 80, and the most block is a 50. I guess it goes with the height
