Since there's quite a few Aussies here, I was wondering if any of them heard of or even got to see these two amazing Australian bands called The Grand Silent System and Clann Zu.





They both disbanded a couple of years ago and you really had to look around and search online to know about these 2 bands, but they did have quite a dedicated fan base and I'm fairly sure some of the Aussies may have heard of them.
They were incredible bands in the true sense of it, with a very instrumental approach, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone who's into progressive/alternative rock.

Saosin is there last album and It's just great. I don't know how popular Saosin is in your places, but here in my country, I'm pretty much the only one that's heard of them. Songs like Voices, I Never Wanted To, It's So Simple, Some Sense of Security, You're Not Alone make me wanna have their babies

I've preferred Malakian to Tankian ever since he became a more prominant part of SOAD. The side-projects are no different. (Even if this one includes another SOAD member, it is still primarily Malakian's vehicle.)

Lenny Kravitz - It Is Time For Love Revolution

I'm not that a big fan of Lenny, but he does make some good music! The album has the relaxing part: (I'll Be Waiting, A New Door, A Long and Sad Goodbye...) and has the rock'n' roll part (Back in Vietnam, I'm ready, Love Revolution, Love, Love, Love...) also it has some funky part (Dancin' till Dawn, Will You Marry Me...)

Anyway, another recommendation, this time I hope It's good.

Siddharta and their albums (ID, Rh-, Nord). They are widely popular in Europe, they won the MTV Best of Adria award in 05 and been nominated in 06 and 07. The song My Dice is used in the intro for MTV's "Rock Charts". They record songs in Slovene and in English. I recommend you listen to the Slovene versions, since the vocalist's English isn't perfect, but they still sound good.
Here are the English videos, from which I recommend My Dice, Insane, Go Easy, Under Venus, and Rave. And here are the Slovene version, from which I recommend Domine, Ring (ala My Dice), Napoj (ala Insane), Rave, T.H.O.R. and Klinik (ala Go Easy)

And here which you just must listen to the end and is by far my favorite song (though the video sucks, dunno why the author put SW pics in it )

Blur - 13 - Been listening to this album almost non-stop this week. I think it has surpassed Parklife as my favorite Blur album. It doesn't sound like Britpop, but they made an even better sound. Its too bad Coxon left and they disbanded.

Haha, I was going to suggest ISIS mainly for you Gundy, but I wasn't sure if that would go a little bit "too far" for your tastes...
I'm not a big fan of Oceanic, but their last two records are simply epic:



They're a bit heavier and have more of a metal approach, but you may also like Intronaut and The Ocean if you like ISIS...

My favorite British band. Hard to even describe them, prog-rock/prog-metal as it should be...The 3 guitars make the difference here, very long, intricate and complex songs.


Caspian - The Four Trees
Instrumental, for fans of Explosions In The Sky, Mono and Pelican. Ridiculously gorgeous stuff.


Exotic Animal Petting Zoo - I Have Made My Bed In Darkness
Unclassifiable stuff, borrows equally from the Deftones, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Mr Bungle. Very talented young band.

Yeah, I love all of ISIS' stuff. Panopticon is amazing but I haven't gotten into ITAOT yet. And wow, I just gave Exotic Animal Petting Zoo a listen and they sound very relevant to my interests.

Pulp - This Is Hardcore (1998) - While Different Class is commonly regarded as the band's high point, I personally prefer the darker follow-up instead. Though not as catchy or accessible as its predecessor, This Is Hardcore is in my opinion Jarvis Cocker's masterpiece.

of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? (2007) - After hearing the terrible new Skeletal Lamping, I appreciate Hissing Fauna even more. A catchy album that gets better every time you hear it, it was my co-album of the year for 2007.
