JaoSming, can we sticky this topic so that people can contribute to the list of moves that can be pulled off in the post and off the dribble? It took me 10 minutes to find it again under search. Badwolf did a great job to start it off.

Direction pad?

I'm loving that pump fake - pump fake - up and under move. And it's really easy. When you're drivng to the basket for instance, slightly press the shot button (or slightly push the shot-stick) and while he's doing the fake, push the shot-stick in any direction and he'll do the rest of the animation. Don't do it too far away from the hoop, it will always be a hook shot.

Nope, doesn't work. You actually need to go to the main menu, select "tutorials", and it will show which one you're on right now. Select another one with the space bar.
I'm very eager to play more of the game since I had never ever played NBA 2K before and it looks very promising, but I must say the interface is already pissing me off. If you really want to make a PC port, make sure the interface is not some crappy console bullshit and is actually suited for PC controls...

Yes, the shot stick is on the numpad, you use 2, 4, 6, and 8. Two of the triggers are the "," and ".", but I don't know what the other two are.

Anyone else with a Logitech Rumblepad 2 having difficulty performing those moves?
I know the game is optimized for a 360 type of pad, but still, it recognized all my buttons and everything. However, I was going though the list of moves from the first post (thanks BadWolf (Y) ), and none of the isomotion moves seem to work, even though my "triggers" (R2 and L2 in this case) are properly mapped...What the hell?

el badman, isomotion is different from years past, not sure if you played those , though. Some moves take very delicate precise movements, others take alot more movement. As long as you are holding the turbo button down, you should be able to try something on the left thumbstick similar to Live's freestyle. Try performing the moves in practice mode. I found that turning the quickness slider down made it easier for me to perform a move, as it seemed to make the movements less sensitive.

mr2ksports, tap the shoot button while in motion to perform a hop step or hop spin. You can use the left thumbstick to point where you want to make the move.

Thanks for the advice Pdub. It must really be sensitive then, because I've been trying for a long time in pratice and I'm not achieving any of the moves that require RT and/or LT...

Just out of curiosity, is anything supposed to happen when you just press/tap/hold either RT or LT while dribbling on one spot without moving (or having still one unused dribble for that matter)?
And you mentioned using the turbo, is this actually required for those isomotions moves (the manual does not mention that), or can you perform them without it?
Thanks for any additional tip, I'm dying, here, not being able to do any fancy moves at all... :cry:

Yes, tapping R1/turbo whether moving or idle should do a hesitation move which you can link with other moves like a crossover, drive, spin, behind the back, etc. Tapping L1/backdown should do a size up move when you are not moving and a quick "burst" drive while moving. I believe there are some basic isomotion moves without using the trigger like 2k8, but I am not sure of that.

I've been trying to pull off these moves using R2/L2 instead of R1/L1, I didn't realize that it was the turbo and backdown buttons that you to use for that...But I guess you must have a PS2-type of gamepad as well, right Pdub? Because from Jao's post:
L2=LT =backdown
R2=RT =turbo

But for me, it's assigned to R1/L1. That's why I got confused... :oops:

Anybody know how to do Rondo's and Crawford's moves? I was trying to pull them off in Practice mode to no avail. I have pulled it off on rare occasions during 5 on 5 play though... but I was wondering if I can do those whenever.

How to make signature dunks, do we need to press something specific or it's just automatic based on player position on the court.

worst thing possible to do, you'd be better off just hitting the crossover or spin button (config alt 2 on 360/ps3 or w/e you ahve it on the PC)

doesnt take long to learn a couple "money" moves, but the last thing you wanna do is just wiggle that sucker like a 15 year old looking at his older sister's friends

No, to get the moves down you should lay off turbo until you actually want to do a move. Once you are done with one move, let go of turbo and press it again when you want to perform another move.

i thought you needed the turbo button to do the moves, unless they changed it from 2k7.

so let's say you are on a fast break and you're going one on one against a defender, what buttons do you suggest that i push to try to get by the defender? (on default control)

HAHAHA. Priceless.

This game sometimes makes me feel more like I'm watching than playing. I get those "did I just do that?" moments where I have no clue what I did and cannot repeat it but it looks damned slick and nice. At this point, a week later, I'm still just mashing buttons. I hope to be able to pull off moves on command someday.

To blow by a defender with an unused dribble is I usually tap turbo and then burst to the basket or you can execute a quick first step using the triple threat position by releasing the post up button the left stick will dictate what direction you are heading to do a spin hold turbo and post up button then poin the left stick away from the defender then release the button! It takes a lot of practice to perform a good move! I usually tap the turbo button then combined it with the left stick that way I can execute almost all of the moves that I want!

Can anyone confirm that those moves are easier to pull off and you can actually feel more the players' inertia and weight when "quickness" is set to very low (in the sliders), and "speed" is increased?
I think Pdub mentioned that makes it easier to perform all those moves, and I saw on the 2K forum someone mention a value of 0 for quickness / 70 for speed makes a nice difference on the gameplay...

I believe you can't perform a up and under move in practice you have to play with some example 1 on 1!

post up first no need to hold tha post up button. tap the right stick to left or right and then quickly flick the right stick up. also try flick down which is a good hookshot move. i couldnt explain any better than that.

How do you do a...well, I don´t know the name of this move...it is like a sidestep during dribbling...in Live 2005 you just had to move the freestyle stick to the left or right.

An inside-out dribble? Or a hesitation?

tap turbo for a hesitation move, tap backdown for a size up move, pretty much those are your choices for that
Opinions are my own.

2K Sports released some video tutorials. Here they are.

BTW, when i set quickness slider to 0 or a little above, players react so slow on offense, especially on post moves and shots. :roll:
