to those ppl who have a video cards that don't support shader 3.0, I have a solution on that ........

since I,m having a hard time running my old rigs, I'll just upload the application to use for palying games with shader 3.0 to video cards that have shader 2.0>>>>need some knowledgeable ppl to help on making this thing to work:wink:

step1 >> load the "exe" file of 2k9 on the application
step 2>> check "max. pixel shader 1.4" and "force low precision pixel shader"
step3>> under setting 'ANTI DETECT MODE' check "shaders"

Well, some enthusiasts got Bioshock to run on 2.0 shaders by rewriting all the 3.0 shaders to 2.0 ones, even though it didn't look perfect it was playable, but loading times were really long. I'm sure it's also possible with 2k9 if you can find the shader files and rewrite them.

yup I have a program that will force 2.0 shader to games that use pixel shader 3.0

I don't know.. I have the game but as I expected I can't run it I install it.. And when i try to start it.. I don't see anything.. JUst black screen and the music form the game.. (And sometimes see "esc" and "3" ) that's all..

Do you guys know what is this problem? Maybe coz the video? I have ATi 9550 pro

I have my old rig here, a 5200fx, Ill change the pixel shader to 1.4(as you said, but wanna know why just its 1.4 can you make it exactly 2.0?) dont have my new rigs yet, Ill buy fresh rigs this coming November, can this tool restore the shaders to 3.0 if i have my rigs already?

i found the nba2k9.exe file
it is under the common folder with is under the Steam folder under Program files.
i followed those directions you gave us.
it doesn't work but i will continue to experiement to see what works. thanks for the idea. if I find a solution i will post it.

sorry to bother you but i wanted to know how do you rewrite the shader files. where would you find the shader files on the game? is it under graphics? I tried the patch to change shader model or convert it using the patch but it didnt work. could you help me by giving me some directions that I can get the game to work?

I wouldn't know. The people who hacked Bioshock edited the shaders.spk, shaders.pcs and shaders.pcs10 files. Those files are not in nba 2k9. I am guessing that the shaders are embedded in the exe file.

Btw, here's a pic. I have the problem when loading. I can edit players and do other things, but not the playing the game. Take a look one the background, there are something kind a like colorful boxes! SOMEBODY HELP!
