No Activation Code - Fixed, Update Steam

[s]Just received my copy from gamestop.com from UPS and I am in the same boat as others with the game not shipping with a CD Key.

Please try and keep discussion in here about this issue and if someone did end up getting a CD Key, please tell us how/where it was in the case.[/s]

for those with steam open, goto File then Check for Steam Client Updates....

Maybe we should request those Europeans who had obtained their game days earlier to share their activation codes with us.

I've searched the files on the disc with no information on who to contact or what to do. There is nothing in the manual about registering the game.

I contacted steam and the 2ksports people about it. Just a matter waiting and seeing.

Good for you, but I'd request to have my activation code by tonight otherwise I'll download the cracked version and start supporting piracy since the only way for us to play it is through pirated games. I spent an extra $15 in order to obtain this game today so there's no excuse why I shouldn't play it.

Well God Damn. The euros got it simply and leaves us Americans fucked.

I'm not going to ban him for that, I paid 12 bucks to get it overnighted instead of having to goto the mall and pick it up (none of the stores have it there anyway)

Has anyone from Canada, and or Ontario got 2K9 yet? If so does it have the activation code?

I just spoke to a receptionist at 2K Sports who told me she can't transfer to anyone except this Christian person who isn't answering his phone. She said she "can't walk to anyone's desk" which kind of made me angry as I'm sitting in a wheel chair today and really can't walk. She said she has to follow procedures, which seems to mean do whatever it takes not to help people.

I left a message for another contact I have over at 2K Sports. It's either lunch time or everyone is out of the office.

Try 415 479 3634, go to the name directory, call names until someone is found who cares about this issue.

Surely there's some unique identifier on a package or CD by which they could identify real owners and give them CD Keys. Someone there has a list of CD Keys for this game.

No activation code? This makes me not want to go out and get it, or atleast pop open the box to make sure there is a cd key before I buy it.

I've called 8 different people so far, all have gone to voice mail. Hopefully everyone else is, as they say, "blowing up the phones" there at 2K Sports.

The stores around here have it but don't realize they don't have CD keys. BOth nearby Gamestops have copies without CD keys.

I just got mine and there is no key. I called tech support and got some guys voicemail and left a message. I don't get how tech support goes directly to one guy, who doesn't answer, but whatever. At least I got the 360 version to play for now so I'm not totally pissed.

By the end of the day? 11:59 pm? Well, that's still better than asking us to return the items and wait for future releases.

How could this debacle happen? Did the printer forget to slip in a CD cover or something?

Seems like the fellows in Europe who got the game were able to install it fine.



For people who already installed the game, where was the CD key?



For people who got the game today in the US + Canada, does ANYONE have a CD key or is it only a few people who are missing it?

Guys what do you think the solution will be?

Do u think Take 2 will create a program that will detect if you have a legit version of 2k9 on your PC and then it will allow for you to install the game? Or do you think that you will have to return the game and the company will have to recall their products only to ship out the proper version with the activation code on a later date (weeks from now)?

Also do you think if they make a fix, it will only be for those who purchased the game today only? and not for those who purchase the game tomorrow, as they will recall their remaining products in order to put the activation code in the manual?

They should have never bothered with discs in the first place.

It requires Steam. Put it on Steam. Don't pull this cute little "haha, it's technically on Steam but still requires a disc" crap.

They'll probably just have you mail in the manual than the entire game. It would be cheaper.
