See below for additional release notes regarding this pre-season update. NBA Live 07 players, be advised I'm currently in the process of converting the rosters for use with 07. That update will likely be out in a few days once I've fixed up a few things and made sure it's crash-free.
Additional Release Notes
- As always, I'd like to stress that I'm open to suggestions for the rosters but if you do wish to give me feedback in that regard, please note that I only invite constructive criticism. If you think I've got some ratings wrong, there's no need to be insulting or come at me with an attitude; just let me know. Note however that you'll need to provide some evidence of why you think a rating should be changed; I won't increase or decrease anyone's ratings without reason just because I'm asked.
Additionally, I'd like to once again state that overall ratings are highly overrated and I do not focus on them, thus I do not boost or lower the individual ratings just to make the overalls look "better". If an overall rating appears to be "wrong", take a look at the individual ratings as a player might be overrated or underrated in a certain category. Feel free to bring that to my attention but my response to requests to make certain players certain overall ratings remains the same: No. - On the subject of ratings, please note that when it comes to the rookies, we haven't seen them play a single regular season game yet so there's still a bit of guesswork there. I have read the scouting reports and taken college/foreign league stats into account but you never know who will surprise us and who might flop, so I'd be very surprised if I hit the nail on the head with all the rookies ratings right out of the gate. They'll be updated as the season progresses.
- Still on the subject of rookies and some other players that have been added...yes, some of them don't have portraits and/or are using generic faces. I don't make face or portrait updates so I must rely on the generous contribution of the patchmakers in the community. I have a lot of faces thus far and I believe all the major new players this year have faces already, but some are still using the generic faces. You can replace those faces if you download an update seperately and of course, I'll update the rosters with correct faces as they're made available to me.
- NBA Live does not allow more than 15 players on a roster, so in some cases I've had to leave players in the Free Agents pool. This is something I just have to juggle and when teams do cut their rosters down to 15 for opening night, I'll be sure to update the rosters accordingly. As for who I've left in the free agent pool, right now I've had to make educated guesses as to the players most likely to stick around. If you disagree, the players are there so you can update that yourself and of course, I'll make those updates in future updates depending on what happens in the real NBA.
- Some jersey numbers are probably wrong, I have combed through the rosters a couple of times but with the way some jersey numbers change through the offseason (if for no other reason that my sources were originally incorrect), it's likely a couple are incorrect. Feel free to post those corrections, they're easy enough to fix once they've been pointed out.
- The rosters are accurate as of October 12th, 2008. If a transaction occurs after that point, then obviously it can't be included. Please check the date before reporting a missing transaction.
- Some noteworthy players are on the inactive list in these rosters. Such players are expected to miss significant time, which is why I've placed them there. When the season begins I'll do the usual "Uninjured" version of the rosters.
These rosters have a fixed installation routine that should eliminate the problem of the art being installed to the wrong folder. I've tested it and it worked without any problems, if you do run into any issues however please let me know. - A huge thanks to everyone who's contributed art for the new version of the rosters; please keep it coming! Note that the added art makes the roster the largest NLSC update to date, it's now a 38 MB download. I will certainly consider releasing a complete update and smaller "updated files only" patches so that you don't have to download the full patch each time.
I think that's about it! I hope you enjoy the patch, I know it's been a long time coming but unfortunately other matters have kept me busy through the offseason and with the flurry of transactions offseason updates are usually outdated by the time people get around to downloading them. Thanks to everyone who has been patient and supportive, I hope you enjoy this update and future NLSC updates. Again, feedback is as always welcome but keep it civil and constructive.
Alright, you've listened to me long enough. Go download the new update!
