But a hilarious post regardless.

It's only half a story. What did the sister do to boss him around? Why did he refuse? Is she granted authority by the parents and thus he is resisting the current regime increasing the odds of punishment? How did he destroy the table and keyboard? Is the table a strong solid wood and therefore difficult to break thus implying Hulk-like strength? Will his parents be too afraid to ban him from the computer lest he punch through walls in the middle of the night and then break them in half by smashing his fists through them and the bed?

Quoted post full of entire characters typed from keyboard.
Does not make sense.
I forgot to tell that we have spare one. It's hard to type with this one because of the table keep falling off. Common sense really

The other half of the story could be a motion picture.

Common sense? How do I know that your halved keyboard is so resilient that it still works despite being broken in half. I'm not one that easily assumes and passes it as common sense.
Besides, common sense is the most uncommon of all.
And I'm not the klutz that tries to type on a smashed table.
EDIT: Dammit Lamrock. I'm going to find and kill you someday for that avatar of yours.

Maybe he threw his sister into the keyboard.

Is it really her fault that you have violent tendencies?
I'd love to destroy furniture to prove a point, but it'd probably end up making me look like a dumbass.

I guess dei got punished and made the news:
A 15-year-old was taken into custody after police said he chased his mother with a knife and beat his brother with a sugar cane over a change in computer privileges.
The teen was charged with aggravated assault and battery after police were called to a home on the 200 block of Silver Oak Road to investigate a disturbance, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported. The teen was arrested Sunday and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Sharpes.
Police said the boy was on the home computer when he grew angry over changes to the system. Police said the teen then threw several objects and picked up a knife and a stick of sugar cane.
The older brother and mother told police the teen pushed his mother several times while clutching the knife. He also struck the brother with the sugar cane, police said.

Ugh...I decided to go for a couple of XBL achievements in NBA Live 08, namely the assist and scoring records and was doing quite well with the tandem of Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson, racking around 19 assists with Nelson and 48 points with Howard by the midway point of the second quarter when the 360 unexpectedly crashed on me with the dreaded rings. Fortunately, it seems my 360 isn't done yet as it's working again but of course I lost my progress in that game and naturally, my following attempts have failed as Howard either racks up four offensive fouls in the first six minutes or simply misses everything he was hitting in that first attempt.
Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled with that chain of events.

is that your first experience with RRoD?
Fri Sep 05, 2008 11:10 pm
It is, aside from a couple of times there's been a power surge while the 360's been on.

There was a latin themed party tonight and I really wanted to attend, but I'm scheduled to work from 6 am till 2 pm on Saturday. I figured it would be responsible to stay home (given the party is in Leiden) and just be at work on time to open up.
All fine and well...cept for the fact that I can't sleep and it's already 4.30 a.m. I'm about to make meself some breakfast and then begin the showering etc. So no party...and no sleep.
I <3 myself for being a ballsack with lots of pussinfested hairsacks on it.

so my laptop developed what is known as the "blue screen of death" for Windows and there's no way around it. my computer overheated a month ago and it turned itself off while it was on. it had never done that before. so i turn it on and everything's fine. a week later, i'm on my computer and the display becomes messed up with vertical lines on the screen and my computer turns itself off (no overheating this time)
I was able to start up in safe mode, but in safemode there's no sound so i was unable to play videos on my computer. thinking it was possibly a driver error, i proceeded to backup my data and format my hard drive. no dice. same screen comes up and since windows hasn't been set up yet, i can no longer use my computer in safe mode. it's pretty much a $1500 paperweight right now and i'm not too pleased about that.
any help would be appreciated.

It's not a Windows BSOD if it happens without Windows.

Boot from the CD. Or get something like an Ubuntu Live CD.

Why were you trying to do anything in Safe Mode except diagnose and fix the problem?

But the damage from the overheating remains.
But you got your data, so you won.

if i try to start windows normally, I get the bsod. currently if i boot from the cd, it tries to set up windows, but then i get a bsod before i can finish. god i feel mildly retarded for all of this.
Sun Sep 07, 2008 2:49 pm
Try writing down the error code from the BSOD, and google searching it.

Like benji said, if there really was an overheating issue, your motherboard may have been damaged, particularly the BIOS chip that's on it, and it might not be repairable. I have a fairly old laptop that tends to turn itself off when it's especially hot outside, but I never get any BSOD, so if you keep getting these you should indeed try to write down the error code and google it, because BSODs don't just occur with overheating.

I'm off to Dublin today. Wish me luck.

Here's to you mate
Good luck!

hmm so if the motherboard is damaged, would it be more cost effective to send it to HP and have them replace my motherboard (and pay for it since it's out of warranty) or just buy a discounted laptop at my work? all I really used my laptop for is downloading music and tv shows and wathcing them and browsing the internet. my computer gaming days are behind me.

I know that as a poster, I'm never serious and I don't expect to be taken seriously either...except for this one time.
At the moment I am extremely pissed off.

It's hard to tell without knowing exactly what's wrong with it, but if the mainboard is busted, I don't think it'd be cheaper to have it fixed. It's usually pretty costly with laptops, so you're better off getting a new one...Even if it was one of the cooling fans, I'm sure they'd screw you over even though that should be really cheap to replace.
