Boston loses a key player ? You mean Posey, right ? I think he's not a key player, a good role player, I'd say. Key players are Garnett, Pierce and Ray, maybe Rondo, but I'd say Posey is a role player. That's just my opinion, though.

Boston lost James Posey, their very valuable sixth man. The Spurs have not improved over last year's team, whose age cost them the title. Everyone is a year older now, and after missing out on Maggette, it looks like San Antonio probably won't even make the conference finals, with L.A., New Orleans, Utah and possibly Houston now ahead of them.

Well, I don't argue with that. Personally, I've never liked the Spurs. It's a good team, but it's boring, though it doesn't matter for them. I think they should already start rebuilding, trade their old players for young blood. You know, mostly Duncan right now. After 2-5 years, they'll have a dark age, I think.

i like the chances for spurs as well altho some key players like bowen, finley are getting old and also with barry gone. but duncan's(can make almost anybody a better player) still there as a dominant force downlow. and if it wasn't for lakers, who knows what could have happened in the finals. personally thought the spurs had better chance against the celtics. besides ginobili played hurt in the series against the lal. if the injury doesn't bother ginobili too much this year, sas should be fine again contending for the top spot in the league.

I would change that

I don't rate Phoenix's chances of winning at all. They may as well be 30th.

how? Shaq sucking as bad as he is is still a 10 PPG 10 reb 2 blk guy. thats still pretty good. and makes it easier for stoudemire with his size. i still see them winning 47-52 games

I see GS winning 38-42 games since they get Magette for Davis and i dont think that change will impove their record or their team a lot.

Good thing they have lots of good players and no longer have Davis wasting possessions.

I dont care if they win 82 games. They won't win in the playoffs. They can't play defence.

I disagree. While I strongly doubt the Suns have much of a chance, they have also been plagued with bad luck.

-Joe Johnson's injury in 05 (as well as inexperience)
-Amare's injury in 06
-The retarded bullshit makes my want to torture and kill David Stern suspensions in 07 (which did make a difference!)
-Duncan hitting the first 3 of the season in 08, killing their morale

I dont care how much bad luck they've had. They havn't won the title, and they won't win the title so long as they continue to play like they have recently.

Neither will any team trying to play up tempo

I think that houston will be in top 3-4 this year, Artest brings them the defense they need.

Ah, so that's what was holding back the team that finished 2nd and 3rd on defense the last two years. Defense! (17th and 15th on offense.)

No need to jump on my back after what i said, Artest just is a great defensive player and he can run offence as well. Yes injuries played a huge part also, nothing to say against it.

They didn't get Artest for his defense. They got him because he is a fantastic scorer, and will be a spectacular third option on offense, and helps fill the void during the 10-20 games that McGrady is bound to miss. The Defense is just gravy.

But face with the fact, Artest is a sick defensive player, he can guard any superstar in the one on one situation. And they will use him for the defence as well.
Yes i know that he can play offence.

Logic?
They get one of the premier defensive players in the league - but not for defence? Your logic is fucked.

They got a guy who can score 20 points a night on a team that consistently loses their other 20 PPG players to injury. They didn't think "hmm we need more defense, get Ron Artest!", they thought "this isn't working. We need to shake things up and bring in a star who can score, and Artest was the best available. Sure, he is also a great defender, but logically, the Rockets wouldn't be focused on improving that area.

They took him for both, main scoring is still on T-mac`s shoulders.
