What do you mean a not-so-happy ending. The not so happy ending would have been falling in love with the girl and having to accept that we live on opposite sides of the world, but I refused to accept that so I'm off next month.

I think he means the movie "Dead Serious" wouldn't have a happening ending.

But I'm probably just assuming.

Congrats Indy, that sounds very <nohomo>romantic</nohomo> and hope it works out with you and her. What made you decide to volunteer for a month in Ecuador?

Wed Aug 13, 2008 4:19 am

I don't know. It was the most spur of the moment decision I've ever made. I just thought of it a week before I left, went, met some incredible people and had the time of my life.

3 days after I got there this girl who had been volunteering for a month and taken a vacation on the coast comes back for her last month. From the first conversation I had with her I knew I could spend my entire life with her. We were just together naturally, there was no awkward moments or periods of adjusting to each other. It was like we had been together for years within 2 days. By the time I took her to the airport to say goodbye in Quito there was just no way I could be saying goodbye to her for good. So I'm packing up all my shit and moving to Dublin.

Very surreal shit, I know. Of course I'll be getting NBA League Pass broadband because even though she has completely changed my life for the better I still need my Pacers.

Sounds great Indy, congrats and good luck with the move. :)

Hey, don't get all dramatic on me Indy  I was just joking. Like I said, hopefully eveything turns out well and you have Pistons-lovin' babies.

Or the children will turn out to Knicks fans.

Going to Ireland? Is it for the girl or the beer? Admit the truth Indy.

Don't forget your mandatory medical check-up after your volunteer work. You don't want to bring back any diseases or viruses.

My grandpa just died...

Wed Aug 20, 2008 11:15 am

Sorry to hear it dramacydal, condolences. :(

Wed Aug 20, 2008 12:06 pm

drama, my condolences to you and your family. I still remember how I felt when my grandpa died about 11 years ago :|

Thu Aug 21, 2008 1:25 pm

2 weeks shy of a one-year anniversary, my girlfriend has decided that she doesnt love me any more. Really sucks because she was my first long-term girlfriend.

And dramacydal, very sorry for your loss.

Thu Aug 21, 2008 4:24 pm

Sorry to hear that too.

Certainly puts my week in perspective. Turns out an unwanted Christmas gift I finally sold on eBay is faulty so I've naturally had to refund the buyer's money. Still, it was only $25 including postage and I managed to sell some of the other clutter I was looking to get rid of. I certainly could have had a worse week.

My little sister just went off to college at Simmons in Boston. She's been there for a week, 14 days before classes start, for Field Hockey practices. Like myself, she has a long history of knee injuries but hers have been more severe requiring surgeries whereas I haven't had to go under the knife. Her last injury was in her Junior year of high school when she torn her meniscus.

Well last year, her senior year, she opted to not play basketball, which was a first since she has played in AAU for many years. Then after the first two days of double sessions, her knee started to inflate and the orthopedic guys at the college fear that she may have fucked up her knee again, or that it is just fluid building up.

So today she goes in for a MRI, either she will have to get that fluid drained every other day, or she will not be able to play competitively ever again.

It's just really hitting me hard since when I played in college, i didn't do much besides knee pads to prevent injury. I got hurt, but never anything serious. My sister kept up with all of her exercises, fought through ACL and meniscus surgeries, did everything she is supposed to do. And while I just get more out of shape even though I could get back into playing form, she might not even get the opportunity to play again. The worst of it I think is that she is accepting it. Saying "If it doesn't work, then it won't work, if my body won't let me play than I guess I won't play anymore." She's 18 for shits sake, this isnt time for her to be accepting injuries and accepting limitations. I just hate to see her fire get extinguished, so to say.

Fucking sucks....

Condolences to Drama btw, i still remember last year a little to vividly.

Jao, Not that i can relate to knee problems, but i blew out my shoulders at 19. I did my stretches, i did physical therapy, i took drugs, i got mri's, xrays, i saw new age healing methods etc. None of it worked. Sometimes you can dream as big as you want; but reality happens. It sucks dont get me wrong but things happen for a reason. I feel that even though i didnt make the paralympics partially due to my blown shoulders, im better off having fought through it and tried. I learned more work ethic that way. Your sister sounds like a true competitor and Im thinking in a little while, she'll realize she cant really give it up and will keep going until her knee no longer exists just like i did with my shoulders.

Mon Aug 25, 2008 11:12 pm

well, she saw the awesome knee doc we go to and got the fluid drained

she's supposed to stay off it 3-4 days, then try again. if it swells up and shit after that it will be surgery again.

They are afraid she doesnt have enough meniscus in her knee or something like that.

Im not as passionate about this after hearing that she doesnt really care for fieldhockey anymore and doesnt want to play all of a sudden.

U KNOW WHAT I FUCKING HATE. the thought that brandon roy might be a player on a different team in a few years.

Tue Aug 26, 2008 2:15 pm

but that would be at least 5 years from now... unless he does something to piss the blazers management...

Tue Aug 26, 2008 2:24 pm

oh cool 5 years. :P

but still. i hope he re signs and keeps improving. he could be the next clyde drexler type figure in portland

Tue Aug 26, 2008 3:57 pm

and we know that clyde drexler moved to houston after a decade with portland in pursuit of a championship ring...

so if the blazers fail to enter the playoffs for the next five years (w/c i think is very unlikely), we might see roy in a new uniform...

My sister being a little bossy attitude is getting on my nerves. She thinks she is the boss in the house when my parents are not around. Stupid sister because of her I destroyed our computer table and as well as the keyboard which broke into half. Damn , I wish I don't get banned from using the computer because of that
