Postby bulls96 on Tue Dec 03, 2002 6:08 pm

i have been waiting for a thread to list down the plays the different teamns run in NBA games today, but there hasn't been any. so i'm gonna contribute a few, and hopefully others will give some input.

LAKERS - sideline triangle
SIXERS - inside triangle, quickhitter
SPURS, KINGS - 1-4 high
JAZZ - high post, pick-and-roll

Hey,

triangle off. didn´t funktion if you play the lakers.

The prob is simple :

- Shaq are double or tribble : Outlet-pass and.steal.or shoot was block.with the orignal roster

The same one with tweaked roster. The free man don´t hit the basket...

Great thread bulls. I have been waitiing for something like this, my question is if you leave the playcalling on dynamic won't they run their usual plays? Example the Kings run the 1-4 high set.

sometimes they do, like the jazz they run the pick and roll.

but usually when play is on dynamic, they run a basic play desgned for their star players, with no play in particular. what happens usually is that the 4 or 5 runs a high pick for the PG, PG drives, or when the SG/SF got the ball, when he's a good player, they will isolate that player. then sometoimes after a few movements they may sometimes call post-up play. there's some kind of pattern in the movement.

example for the lakers, if you leave it on dynamic, Fisher will just destroy you. but if you call the right play, like the triangle, they pond it to shaq, because thats what the triangle does, it gives the ball down to the C at the post, while the rest move around, and fisherwill not attempt as many shots.

so using the plays helps the ball get into the right p[layers, the ones who will do the damage on offense.

come on guys!

i know that you have your own favorite teams that you might be watching ewveryday, contribute to this thread pls :)

I got a problem that when I set my plays the CPU gets exactly the same. Is this because of dynamic play calling or what do I do to fix this.

Thanks for the reply, I have been wandering about the dynamic. I would love to contribute but I don't have enough time right now to watch a whole game. If there is a site that you get the info for the plays from, I will love to help get every teams plays and post them. For now thats all I can do, sorry. However I think this is the best thread as far as potential, I just hope others use it as such.

"Dynamic" offensive playcalling means tht it will run the last play you chose again the next time you have the ball after a defensive change.

Example: If I choose Flex 5 as my play and I shoot and score or miss and then i go on D...the next time i get the ball, my players will run Flex 5 again unless I pick a new play. This has been the case for every Live game.

the mavs dont run many plays
maybe a pick and roll
there is 1 tho
its a simple screen and roll for nowitzki
but its in the low post, and he doesnt have the ball, its just to get him open for a wide- j

Try "Flex 5" for the Mavs with Nowitski as your 3 man. He'll set up opn the wing all alone...you can either shoot the 3 or post him up one on one...usually with a smaller player defending him.

the mavs run a faggot zone D which is y they are leading the west...nelson has stacked the team with great shooters who just 'stop & pop' & now that he can play zone he is exposing the lack of good shooting in general on other nba teams by forcing guys to beat them from outside. most teams cant do this as nba teams traditionally have drafted great individual slashers, scorers & bigmen. the new league zone rules minimise the impact of these types of guys. i say screw the zone D & go back to the good old dayz with illegal D so team can do clear outs. this would then expose the mavs lack of great athletes & one on one defenders, (except finley). imagine if teams could iso continually on a guy like nowitski, he would get eaten up like a ding dong baby

Basketball is still a TEAMPLAY!

The teamplay should decide over winning and losing, not the individual strength of one player in my opinion.

Keep the zone. There are much more tactical options with it.

For sure, the zone is a boring defense for fans. you dont see those terrific plays 1-on-1 and it isnt this exciting or attractive than Man-to-Man-Defense.

Here is my problem. I run with the Mavs but I noticed last night they use a spread offense. So I used zipper 10 but I don't want to use this offense on the break because it slows guys down, it seems like if I leave it on dynamic playcalling they run their lanes better, they don't just run to a spot like they do on zipper 10. The problem is now they run zipper 10 everytime down the floor. So is there anyway I can have the team use automatic plays when on the break that way they run their lanes, and then I could use zipper 10 on the half court offense? Thanks

i watched the spurs vs kings last night.

the spurs ran a lot of high picks (mostly duncan set the picks), then dumps it back to him in the post. so i think BALLSCREEN would be more appropriate. but leaving it on DYNAMIC may work.

watched the mavs vs lakers (damn lakers! :) ), noticed the mavs were more freely wheely (if you get what i mean) on offense. no structure in their plays. i mean they just set picks up high, then nash dribbles around and around the entire court until he can pass out to whoever is open. so if you use the MAVS, you might be better off setting a pick for nash, then run the 3POINT play and move nash around and find the open man for the three. if you play against them, i think you'll be better off leaving it at DYNAMIC.

from what i watched from the sixers, i think i got their play right (look above).

guys what plays do your teams play? gicve some input.

watched the wiz vs indiana game.

wiz ran the motion offense. stack and MJ would run off screens down low and run up to the sides. i think i saw zippers too.

WIZ - motion, zipper

indiana usually just dumps the ball to o'neal. so might as well leave it at dynamic. before in the other lives, there was this play 3-PT 3. thats what they run for miller for open threes. couldn't find the same play in this year's live. i think the closest is a quickhitter play (couldn't recall which one) and its for the SF, so you will have to switch reggie to SF.

We got to bring this topic back. Example play the Lake show with out setting their plays. Shaq will hardly ever shoot, but if you set their offense to side tri 8 he will try to score all the time. Then you have to double him which means Kobe gets involved just like real life.

Lakers- Side triangle 8

i dont know the computer stuff coz i play the PS2 version so i cant help you with that sorry.

more additions. HOUSTON's plays now run thru Yao more of the time with Yao with the ball in the block while the others move around for the pass - SIDELINE TRIANGLE.

sometimes, Yao sets picks up high, so BALL SCREEN is it. I havent played against them yet, but how do they play with offense on DYNAMIC. who gets the shots.
