Not fully supported v.02: http://www.nbavg.org/files/nbapc002.zip
Download v.01: http://www.nbavg.org/download.php?view.920

Three years ago I started making a Live 06 roster. Then three years later, I started again. This time though, it is nearly ready for this project.

I used the default roster. I used actual data to rate the players.

As of currently, the rosters are updated with most missing players created (Horford, Gay, Roy, Durant, etc.) and everyone on a team re-rated.

Not all missing players have been created (Jamario Moon for example), and no new rookies have been. I can't update the salaries for the new season until FA is over (I've left FAs on their old teams) obviously. I have been rolling back birthdates and updating destinies. But I haven't fully completed that as I swiched to getting missing players made first. No classic teams have been added yet, nor have draft class or all-time teams been added or legend teams been split. I also keep forgetting to rerate the players in the FA list.

Since the overall project isn't near ready though, I could offer up some "betas" if people are interested. Or keep them to myself in a squirrel like hording fashion.

Oh, and none of the missing players have faces that resemble theirs. I just gave them the "correct" skin color and a random face as I assume they'll all be replaced with cyberfaces and such.

So...comments and what not welcome. Or not. Up to you.

A beta first would be good in my opinion. You are good in posting stats for players so maybe you can also create good ratings for the players. This is actually the first time i have seen you make a patch so good luck on it benji (Y)

Nice stuff Benji, ive been waiting for a 06 Roster to be made from scratch. I would be keen to have a look at a beta (Y) Oh and sing out if you need a hand with any of it, rosters is one area of patching I can actually work with.

So, I was going to release a beta today (got all the important players from last season created) but I deleted a duplicate Von Wafer and things went to hell. A good number of the players now have incorrect appearance settings.

Example: Rudy Gay has playerid 2054, which in appearance.dbf contains his 6-9, 220, black listing. Except, in the game he's 6-2, 170 and white. Which are the settings for 2053, or Jordan Farmar, while Kyle Lowry has Gay's settings, etc. This happens all over a certain group of created players.

It appears that two players were deleted. 2032 and 2034 are missing. The latter was the accidental Von Wafer duplicate. (Didn't see he was already in the game.) I don't remember who the former was supposed to be, he has no entry in players.dbf.

Anyone else run into this in the past? Do I have to trash all the players and start over? I'll be checking the 06 forum, but if anyone knows that would be great. I don't want to just adjust the playerid numbers to fix the appearance as that would introduce all sorts of problems.

EDIT: Guess the search function doesn't work, so I can't find anything easily.

EDIT2: I took a chance and restructured the dbf files using OpenOffice, and it appears to have fixed things. I'm going to do a bit more checking on things (as well as update some jersey numbers), but at this point plan to release a beta sometime tommorrow.

This will not be a beta to be used in dynasty, as the salary info is a mess right now. But it does just fine in season and Play Now!

Talk to Jaosming if you can. He had many dbf problems that were similar when he was creating a roster from scratch.

well that was because I didnt know how to do the appearance part of body colors...but you helped me figure that one out.

It's a bit difference with an all CAP roster and this one though. But yea, if I can help, I will.

Looked good what I've seen so far, though I find your Overall ratings really weird.
I assume your new ratings are based of stats, and I do understand them, but it just doesn't look right to me when Calderon has 90 and Arenas has 81. I mean it's still a video game, you still want the superstars to play well when you play against them. And Haywood with a 86 rating, nah I don't think so.

Anyway, it looks promising though, keep it up.
Oh yeah, it's Al Thornton.

though I find your Overall ratings really weird.

They are based on how good the players actually are, not an average of the ratings as the game does. (And mildly inflated to match the games abundance of 70s and 80s.) Just go to edit player -> done if you want to overrate players who can jump and dunk and underrate efficient ones.

It is based on last season, and Calderon was a superstar while Arenas was less so. I did it quickly, so I didn't do full re-ratings for players who did not play as much this season (Arenas, Nene, Morrison/May, etc. I did do Brand however) as I have not yet compiled full 2006-07 stats.

As for Haywood, 58% shooting, 14% offensive rebounding, 3.6% shot blocking, and only 13% turnovers? Yeah, I think so. He had the best winning % on the Wizards.

Typo when creating him, my mistake. Now fixed. (Not in the download, but in my file.)

Yeah like buzzy said your rating seem whack like bonner at 64 while finley is 59 & bowen is 49 and what happened with all the FSS? Kobe, Iverson, Melo dont have any at all while palyers like carter and t-mac only have outside scorer.

Yeah like buzzy said your rating seem whack

True, if ones perception is different from a players production they will seem out of wack. But if one is aware of a players production last season, they won't be.

If you think overall ratings (which are meaningless) are wrong, please let me know why (Same goes for all ratings.)
and what happened with all the FSS?

I hate them. So I only gave them to players who met quite high rating standards. The best players can still abuse everyone else, they don't need an extra bonus to do that.

Updates coming for v .02
-Rejiggering of superstar system. I had done like EA and based it on ratings (but set critera far higher) but I don't like the results. So I am changing to setting these based on stats. (Yes, the ratings are derived from stats, but changing a method will change results.)
-Updates to the rosters, obviously.
-Salaries updated for those who have signed or already have contracts with teams.
-Rookie testings (Rose, Beasley, Love, Mayo, Westbrook and Gordon, along with one or two more guys probably Brook Lopez and Mario Chalmers, will be put on the Rookie team to fool around with their ratings. I will definitely take "scouting" based suggestions on these, especially their athletic ratings (speed, jump, strength, etc.) and if anyone has combine results link, that would be greatly appreciated. )
-I unlocked all the "locked" jerseys.
-Will move the coaches around so the ones in the game will at least be on the right teams.
-If I think of it, I'll see about adding the teamplays suggested in another thread.
-Whatever else I bother to fiddle with anytime this weekend.
Target Date for v.02: Monday, or Tuesday. Maybe Wednesday, maybe Sunday.

Issues
-v.01 WILL crash if you try to do a Dynasty. I had accidently pasted the Live 08 birthstate.dbf into the folder instead of the 06 one I had updated from 08's. Whoops.
-Only 5% of people who have downloaded the roster have commented. Clearly other people want to judge a book by its frontcover and complain about overall ratings without spending any hands-on time.
