camby was the only nugget that can play defense (well, with the exception of AI), and now they're trading him??? and for a second rounder??? wtf...

great move by the clippers, kaman + camby = defensive nightmare for the opposition

Clips still got about 2 mil in cap room hopefully they can sign a PF or a solid SG vet to round out the team and get back into the hunt

If this is a step towards a youth movement in Denver im all for it but if its just a boneheaded move for cap space then please why? Camby is worth more than a damn 2nd rounder, what are these guys thinking.

It's a move to try to justify the contract they gave Nene, I suppose. Though this does leave their frontcourt very thin, I don't see why you would do this if you were Denver if you didn't at least get a solid big man or at least a younger prospect to develop down the road.

Excellent replacement for Brand on the Clippers part though. When healthy, Camby is extremely versatile and can do many things extremely well except for scoring.

i don't know if there is any one in their roster that can fill the position camby left.
maybe they're just going to look in to the free agents, but i doubt if there is any center left that plays like camby...

Yep, you pretty much can't find a stalwart defensive presence like Camby on most teams let alone the current free agent market. I'm still wondering how on earth they managed to get so little value out of a player like Camby. His contract isn't even that bad (8-9 mill for two years), usually if a big man has the stats that Camby put up last season he'd be given 12+ million a year.

I dont get why they would trade their first round pick this year for nothing, then trade Camby for a second round pick. Has this front office lost their marbles or what.

That's an excellent steal for the Clippers. I'm not sure what they need right now, a solid perimiter shooter, or a good penetrator.

Wow... The Clip show has a decent starting 5 now with Baron-Gordon-Thornton-Camby-Kaman. It wouldn't have been good enough last year in the West, but after they stole players from two probable 8th seed rivals (GSW and Denver) and with the Mavs imploding, they could make the 8th seed. Doubt it though.

Denver doesn't have to pay luxury tax, but they will suck balls defensively. Clippers got a bit of a steal, but they traded their cap for Camby. Looks like J-Smoove is staying.

What a great offseason for the Clippers, dropping $21 million to win 30 games.

The Nuggets must have faith in Nene healing or are planning major changes in the coming months.

Incredibly stupid trade for both teams. Clippers would've been better off boosting Fazekas into the starting lineup and using the cash to build an actual team instead of a panic band-aid on a mortal flesh wound.

maybe the nuggets is one of those teams that are clearing cap space to have lebron on their team...

come to think of it: AI, Melo, and LBJ on one team. that's scary...

I thought Los Angeles was going to start a Complete Re-building, with a solid point guard with ten years in the league and promising young guys like Thorton and Eric Gordon. Maybe a bad season next year to get a high pick. And start again with a top rookie. I guess I was wrong (N)

Iverson expires after this season, if they resign him they wouldn't have any space for LeBron. Anthony makes $17.1 million in 2010-11, Martin makes $16.5 million, Nene makes $11.4 million.

if that's the case then i would say that the clippers walked away with a steal here...

Where did I say Marcus Camby is bad?

Except it doesn't make them any better and takes away $8 million of cap space for the next two seasons.

Camby ain't bad, he just doesn't work for the Clippers.

Yet, who knows. It's always nice to have a defensive threat. It sure as hell is a nice upgrade over the caveman. (don't expect him to start at PF either)

I understand why the Clipps made this trade... they are desperate. Who knows what all they've promised Baron. They're probably going to keep on pulling off these odd deals until they have a cluster fuck of good players with no chemistry what-so-ever and bloated contracts. Who knows... might just work. Still not worth it, considering that they'll still get massacred in the West. I guess that it will get someone other than the janitor and the Clipper girls (I don't think that I've ever seen a Clipper game televised... at least not in a while. Are the Clipper girls extremely hot or something? People are coming to those games for a reason... after all) to come.

The Nuggets seem to be desperately tryin to get a high draft pick next season. I wouldn't be surprised if they trade AI to some team that's desperate for a championship this season.

Odd trade, none-the-less. I wonder what's the complete cap breakdown for the Nuggets for '09-'10.

2009-10 is irrelevant for the LeBron-stakes. What I listed above is their entire cap situation in 2010-11, they only have those three on the books.

I don't care about LeBron... he'll probably sign an extension anyhow and end all this damn hype.

Lots of other good free agents available....

Anyhow... Martin's contract.... shiite muslim.

I was using "LeBron-stakes" as shorthand for "free agent bonanza, including LeBron James, that occurs in the 2010 offseason."
