ENB Series - Live PC Release - UPDATE, PLEASE READ

You Need A High End Video Card Compatible With Shader 3.0 For This to Work.
I am sincerely sorry for the confusion since I had not tested this on another computer. People ran into issues and contacted me, and of course when tried it on my older rig this mod did not work properly, I am very sorry for the false hope for people with more budget friendly cards. I will try and come up with a solution for this ASAP.

Those pictures pretty much sum up what this does.

Download
http://files.filefront.com/DepthofField ... einfo.html
(credits and props to Boris from http://boris-vorontsov.narod.ru/index_en.html for creating this and sending me a version that works with NBA Live)

To install place these files into the root folder.
C:/Program Files/EA Sports/NBA Live 06

To start it, while in game, press shift and F12 at the same time.

Tips (you might want to read this)

F12 by default is NBA Live's shortcut to take those massive tga screenshots. It is recommended to remove this feature because it can interfere with this when trying turn this on and off. To do this goto
C:/Program Files/EA Sports/NBA Live 06/main/cscripts folder.
Open xstartup.cfg with notepad and add "// " before a couple lines
Before
Code: Select all
bindalias SCREENSHOT "ren_screengrab"
bind +K_F12 SCREENSHOT

After
Code: Select all
// bindalias SCREENSHOT "ren_screengrab"
// bind +K_F12 SCREENSHOT

Tips on Editing this:
First off, you edit the "enbseries.ini" and for the depth of field you want to be editing the very bottom section called dur
Code: Select all
[DEPTHOFFIELD]
DOFQuality=2
DOFNumberOfPasses=5
DOFFocusRange=35
DOFBlurinessRange=3

For what those values do, look at this
http://boris-vorontsov.narod.ru/doc_dof_en.htm

By default, I turned off all effects except for the depth of field. To turn the others on, change the 0 values to 1 in this section of the ini file.

Code: Select all
[EFFECT]
EnableBloom=0
EnableOcclusion=0
EnableReflection=0
EnableMotionBlur=0
EnableWater=0
EnableShadow=0
DepthBias=0
EnableDepthOfField=1

Basically for all editing, take a look at this page of Boris' web site and feel free to ask me or him for help.
http://boris-vorontsov.narod.ru/doc_en.htm

I'd like everyone to keep all discussion about this and the PC mod here in this thread and for everyone to post their own version (along with a screenshot) here as well. This mod can immensely improve the graphics of NBA Live on the PC, but only if we tweak it for our needs. So have fun, play with it, see what happens, it can only help (well for the most part).

Amazing man. Going to try this out on Live 05 and 08 and toss up some screenies. Hell, maybe even a little Madden too.

EDIT: Needs work on Live 08. Works fine on 05, but on 08, the courts are completely white because of the effect.

WOW.. Jao.. That's really cool bro.. Really nice.. I like how is it blured.. And this light gives to the jesey next gen look (esp in the lakers one.. In the yellow trims) :shock: .. Really impresive.. And just to ask can you shot some "sky box camera" pictures.. Becoz i am not sure that the blury effect will be visible or...? :roll:

jonthefon, thanks for checking the other versions, for those who want to use this in Live 04 or Live 03 you need to download the converter on his site, but i dont know if that supports the depth of field thing or not.

PHXaznpr1d3, it blurs the background, here is a before and after pic.

GazuN, those are EA'd Default jerseys too, just imagine this with c0nr4d's 1024 updates.

Gameplay pic

Notice how the crowd is slightly blurred. It isn't perfect, this is how freethrows look.

But the payoff is worth it IMO

I couldn't get it working. I got motion blur working but it looked horrible and buggy. Maybe you need to have a shader 3.0 compliant video card.

I am really sorry everyone, it seems that you need to have a shader 3.0 compatible video card for this mod to work properly.

To find out if your video card is shader 3.0 compatible the easiest solution is to goto
Start Menu > run > type in dxdiag and press run.
Goto the display tab,
Your graphics card name is on the upper left where it says "Name: ________"
Type in your video card's name and "shader 3.0" into google and find out if your card supports it or not. I guess any ATI card with a number higher than x1000 should be all set. I am not sure about NVidia cards though. I am currently using 8800 GTs.

Got a Radeon x1650 Pro and it looks horrible for me. Just some random parts of the screen are blurry.

Make sure there is a specific point of focus in the middle of the screen. That is what the mod looks for.

Also post a screen of your issue

Nvidia's from the 6X00 and later have 3.0 and should be able to use the mod.

Ah ok! Well, it doesn't look to bad when zoomed in the Replay mode, but when zoomed out it's unplayable imo.
Probably because there's nothing specific to focus on I guess.

ew, ya, i see what you mean, I wonder why my gameplay doesnt do that though.

I guess in someways we should treat it like the Depth of Field option in the 2k games. Only use it in replay mode. Anyway, mess with the values and see what happens. If you are able to fix that shiz post what values you used.

That's something cool Jao (Y) too bad my graphic card doesn't support Shader :P
but just a question Jao, how does it look when zoomed out on your computer ? because as buzzy showed on his pic this does look unplayable.

Here are some screenshots from my game. Some of them are blurrish, but, somehow i've managed to get rid of them and the game looked great. Then blurring occured again. I can't handle this nice-touch-addon.

I don't see any DOF effect in the Haslem, Wade and Shaq screens in the middle. I see them in the first one and the last two. I'm going to have to install 06 to me better computer and check it out.

Thanks c0n :wink: well I've been really busy with school actually, although I came back sometimes I didn't take the time to post on the Forums. But I'm on holidays so I'm gonna be more active for the moment. :) I've been following all your jerseys c0n and they're all great (Y)

And yeah, Pdub's right as I only see the effect in the first one and the last two. Will maybe check it out with my notebook.

Just an FYI for everyone, you must enable this for it to even work, so anyone can install it and try to get it to work, if it doesn't, it doesn't, but as long as you dont enable it in the future it won't muck up your game.

Okay, well I've tried it on my PC, and as expected it didn't work. I have a Radeon 9250 on it so obviously it's not gonna work :lol: Sorry mate I can't help you for the moment for that.

Hm.. Jao Fully agree with you.. It will be awesome to play the game with Conrad's High Res jerseys.. And with this new investigation (Y)

And about the video cards.. I don't know.. My card is ATI Radeon from the 9550 serries.. And the pixel shader system was 2.0 or 2.5 (Don't remember exactly) but i have the effects are workin' for me.. Only the blury one is missing.. But for me right the blury effect make the game looks different.. But anyway.. Very good job bro.. Thanks to you and to Boris.. (Y) :bowdown:

I'll get up screenies on 05 of the game with conr4d's 2x jerseys. Don't have 06 though, so 3x is for someone else.

Check to see if you have it in your C:\WINDOWS\system32 directory. If you don't, then you might need to update DirectX to the latest version.

Finally installed 06 on my newer computer. Looks ok for closeups, except for the blurry outline. I'm going to have to tweak it more. Interestingly, I got that motion blur bug again so I will probably update my drivers.

EDIT - I think I found the perfect paramaters.

With DOF

Image

Without DOF

No blurry outline nor too much noise. Most players in view are in focus. No distracting blur during gameplay.
