Players disappear; to Andrew

How and where to certain players disappear?
Each season in franchise mode, 29 rookies are created but the number of players who retire is lower...so the league would be flooded by lots of new players over the years...I noticed that certain players are not there any more...I waived M. Pope in season 1...he didn't retire but he wasn't on any roster or a free agent either. Is the number of free agents limited so that each season the worst players in the league -> the ones with the lowest overall ratings just disappear?

This already happens in NBA Live 2000. So let's say that it's the same for Live 2003.

Well I played Live 2000 a lot but never noticed that...but somewhere I read that free agents are limited to 100 so each time the pool would have more than 100 players in it, the ones with the lowest overall ratings are deleted.
