The problem isn't that the Denver players' ratings are now higher after editing the players.bdf. It's that the team rankings don't reflect the players' ratings. If anyone knows why this is, I would like to know.

hehe i just simmed a franchise with different tweaked rosters and denver tops west...sacramento never make the playoffs (even though they're ranked 1st in team ranking)...and cleveland gets sweet 1-4 seeds out in the east....OMG!!!

This is probably because th eoffense to defense proportions are thrown off by tweaking, besides tweaked rosters were never meant for franchise but for a realistic experience in exhebition.

A lot of ratings in tweaked rosters are multiplied by a number between 0 and 1. This affects good players more than bad players ( 100*0.7=70 lowered by 30 points, 50*0.7=35 lowered by 15 points). As a result better teams suffer more penalties and teams are more equally balanced than in reality.

That wont matter becuase, even though point for point it seems to affect better players/teams more, the fact is that they are ALL lowered the same proportionately. Just look at it this way. If your rating is 100, you're twice as good as someone rated 50. Now take the stat *0.7.....at the new rating (70) you are STILL twice as good as the other player (now rated 35). So I dont think that makes much of a difference because the affect is all relative.

There are some stat numbers in the players.dbf that I think are used for calculating sim stats in season/franchise mode. Has anyone tried editing these to see how they affect sim results?

Yes, the player is still twice as good but the difference betwen them is much smaller. Before the tweak player ratings ranged from 0 to 100. But after the tweak those ratings range only from 0 to 70. Since the number of players didn't change the player ratings are now closer together.
If I have 1$ and you have 2$ we can say that we have about same amount of money (we're both broke :D ). But the difference is much bigger if I have 10 000$ and you have 20 000$. But in both cases you have twice as much money as I do.
