I just read somewhere today, that he won't be on the ballots, so he won't be i the all star game.

For as long as I can remember, you have been able to vote for people who aren't on the ballot over the Internet. If every Chinese basketball fan with an Internet connection writes him in, I guess he can still make the team. If he does, it'll be the end of fan voting though (which is about time anyway)

Err ... I don't think so ...

By Marc Stein
ESPN.com
Ballots for the 2008 All-Star Game in New Orleans -- printed and electronic -- will be out Wednesday.

And Yi Jianlian's name, I'm told, won't be on them.

from ... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime ... ime-071114

The majority of the voting comes from the Internet I believe ... so excluding him only on the printed ballots wouldn't help.

But you are right ... the fan voting should be reversed or gettin rid of. Coaches vote in a few specific positions and two wildcards ... maybe coaches and sports writers should vote for the majority of players and fans should vote for the wild cards ... that would maybe lead to more realistic all star teams.

Wait, wait...people actually care about the "realism" of the all-star game? Colour me surprised.

Realistic as in real deserving players getting there, not just this stupid popularity contest it is now ...

If Yi would be on the ballots now, he'd be voted in a starter in the East, for sure ... and thats just plain wrong.

he would have had the most votes in the east i am sure and it would have just further prove whats wrong with letting fans vote. i am fine with fans voteing if they rename it to something like "fans choice game". so long as its an all star game the best players that season should be playing.

Because the coaches are soooo good at picking the reserves right...we'd never see guys like Jamaal Magloire or Wally Szczerbiak in all-star games...not like coaches would pick almost the entire staring lineup of a team simply because the team has a good record...

If the proper twelve guys from each conference went each year, what the hell would anyone talk about before the game? How would we spend countless man hours demanding Vince Carter give up his spot to Jordan? How could we rant that people the fans wanted to see got in over someone "more deserving"?

And the Celtics win again.
Anyone want to predict when the Celts will drop their first one?
I say its either against Orlando or the Warriors.
Howard against his icon and Ray Allen reunites with Lewis...
A must watch game.

Howard and his icon? I always think of Howard as more of a Shaq than a KG.

Don't worry, their first loss will be in Utah.

the way i see it, is coaches vote for the obvious guys, but then they want THEIR guys to make it as well, so they all somehow vote for someone marginal and hope the others vote for their guy...but i guess it doesn't work.

Is it just me, or does Perk look like he's buffed up a lot since last season and cut down on the fat? He's starting to look more like David Robinson and less like Brian Scalabrine.

Also, I'm still not convinced Doc Rivers is the right coach for this team. It looks as if the C's are winning in spite of their offensive strategy, not because of it. Why is Perkins getting the ball at the top of the 3-point line so often? What is he supposed to do from there?

Damn it!!!!!!!!
Miami was so close.....At least Wade is back and he looked pretty good out on the court. Turnovers killed Boston in the fourth and Scalabrine looked like an idiot out there. Posey did pretty good against his former team and got the big rebound to end the game.....
Davis redeemed himself in the second half after ballhogging in the first half and missing some good looks.

As a Heat fan.. I'm not worried. I think this team is better than last years. A healthy lineup with J. Will, Wade, Davis, Haslem, and Shaq is better than any the Heat have had in the past years. Bench is a little shaky, though Smush, Blount and Zo are pretty solid reserves. If Dorell gets PT, he should be able to fill in nicely for either D Wade or Ricky...

One solid reserve is all the Heat really need.

As an NBA fan...

I love watching the Celtics big 3! Even more, I love the fact that Boston has a winning team again. I've seen every game they've been in this year... and I would say they're for real!

Riley doesn't seem to like Blount or Smush much. To me, Hardaway has been a surprise. No one gets the ball into Shaq's hands better than him.

I still don't get why Smush would grow a fro.
Does he have any idea how ridiculous he looks?

he always looks like an idiot. the fact that he is still on this team only proves that he is a world class kiss ass and for some reason people on the team like. the guy is a fucking waste.

Scal looks like he just drank a 6 pack of beer before heading to the game. Him and Garbajosa totally need to be on the same team at some point.

I have no idea who is from Massachusetts, but I know if The Sonics took him and Martell and Marvin Williams and Jamaal Crawford, oh yes and Richie Frahm and Scott Pollard, and gave back Earl Watson and Delonte, they'd be good.

Oh yeah, and about Scott Pollard! The Celtics have Scott Pollard AND Brian Scalabrine, two fantastic representatives of the great state of Washington and its basketball, especially since they both went to two very impressive collegiate basketball programs and both have sweet hair.

You know, if you combined Scott and Brian into one basketball player, he would be the ultimate white weapon. Seven feet tall, a smooth jumpshot, an incredible beard, and hair that is always on fire!
