Adding player nicknames

I was just browsing the dbf files in my saved rosters and dynasty then I came across this nicknames.dbf file.

I was just wondering, can we assign this nickname to our players in, say dynasty mode? Will Marv and Steve mention these names? Or are these files just in here for no reason?

You can't add audio for them but you can add nicknames to the database and then assign them to a player. They'll then show up in the View Player screen.
