Kobe was working out at my school.

on a side note, the Nugs would be more bone-headed than Mitch Kupchack if they dumped Camby for Kwame straight up.

fully agree though the nuggets might want to dump cambys salary if they think he cant keep it up or will be injured too much. personally i think it would be a terrible deal for the nuggets.

heard at realgm that the lakers and pacers agreed to a trade involving JO for Bynum and Odom.. but now all theyre working on is the cap spaces... they have to unload a few players for the trade to work with the cap space.. but both teams have already agreed if both get those players mentioned..

Tue Jun 05, 2007 6:12 am

:( I'll be a "fan" of Indiana if Bynum heads over there. Like I am with Miami because of Shaq.

I don't think Odom is the problem on the Lakers. If he gets moved, I can easily see Caron #2 break out and become an all-star in the east.

I agree. Lamar has had his times of greatness, and his recent rebounding skills in the first round show that he can play the 4 spot(only a few games, but you never know).

They should give them Kwame, Vlad Rad, and Sasha for JO.

C - O'Neal
PF - Odom
SF - Walton
SG - Bryant
PG - Farmar/Parker

he is a very capable rebounder especially at the 4 and his reb #s go down when he slides to the 3. However, I think his game is more suited for the 3 because he does a little bit of everything: pass, shoot, score, rebound, etc. and his low post offense ain't exactly dominant, so there's no reason to keep him at the 4 except for rebounding. I think they should get a good rebounder at the 4 and slide Lamar to the 3. That would also create a lot of mismatches because Lamar would be bigger than almost all other SFs.

JON > Kwame, so Indiana's C/PF slot gets much worse.
Granger > Radmanovic, so Radmanovic wouldn't get any minutes

So how would Indiana benefit from this?

Tue Jun 05, 2007 11:37 am

Even though I consider JO kind of overrated, that trade is absolutely terrible for the Pacers... That would be far worse than their trade with Golden State this year.

However I do think that giving up Bynum and Odom is a bit too much for JO too. It will be interesting to see exactly how this deal will end up, assuming that it goes through in the first place.

Tue Jun 05, 2007 11:54 am

Oh, I wasn't trying to make a fair trade at all. Just one that worked with the salaries.

I do believe that the Lakers will have to give up either Bynum or Odom to get Indiana to agree to trade JO.

I agree. Lamar had one of his best seasons in Miami where he played small foward. He creates more matchup problems when he's at that spot.

What if KG was avaiable for the sameprice? Would you pull the trigger on that move?

Not that i think he is, I'm just curious about what you think the Lakers should do to prepare for next season.

From my point of view, Kobe & Bynum should be untouchable. Trade away everyone including Phil Jackson for all I care. Shit, pimp out Jeannie if you must...

Kobe is the present, Bynum could be the future. (Well not really, but I believe he'll become solid.)

now thats interesting, same deal just for kg, i would be more willing to deal in that case but i would still want to talk to kobe first, let him know that if we bought in kg would might get stuck in no mans land where we are not good enough to compete and not bad enough for a good draft pick. in the end i would probably do that deal even though i think the lakers would be left pretty thin. those 2 together could be a great 2 some, if they could only get a real point and a solid center then they would be set.

Wed Jun 06, 2007 10:56 am

id do it too if i were la. i have no idea why minny would though.

Pfff, ya think? Both or no deal. And both isn't enough either, we'll need the 19th pick.

lol thats just rape

If Kobe wants a trade then trade him.....but as a laker fan i would only want him to be traded to one team, and thats the portland trailblazers. for Greg Oden.

Continue the laker legacy from Mikan, Wilt, Kareem, Shaq.......get Oden. trade Kobe to the blazers mitch.

im still a kobe fan but lakers>kobe.

Wed Jun 13, 2007 5:11 am

Kobe was at my school's gym yesterday morning. i go there a lot but unfortunately i was working. he was in the back court shooting around. one of my friends got to meet him (and is a die-hard Kobe fan) and i think he can die a happy man now...

i would definitely not do that if i'm portland.

Lakers should not trade Kobe unless the whole team is involved. That's like the Bulls trading MJ.

Wed Jun 13, 2007 9:50 am

actually, MJ never demanded a trade. he did not whine when things went wrong.

im one of the biggest kobe homers here and nlsc veterans can testify to that but im very disappointed in his crybaby attitude.

I think Kobe went a little overboard with his 'demands' but he is justified in the reasoning. He has been waiting for the Lakers to bring him another low post player somehow since Shaq has been gone. They missed out on everyone he wanted. The one effort they make is trading Caron Butler for Kwame Brown? Are you kidding me? The powers that be for the Lakers have been terrible starting with the Shaq move and going forward. The one thing they did that seems to be a good one is drafting Bynum, but they had to know that a high-schooler that would take 4-5 years to reach his potential would not satisfy Kobe. The Lakers managment should have had the foresight to see this coming.

Michael never cried and whined for the most part because the team was winning. Jerry Krause never got the credit he deserved for building the championship teams. He handled the situation poorly in the late stages, and that's how his legacy will be remembered. However, Mike did retire for a year and a half. Mike did talk to the Chicago press about leaving and signing with New York one offseason. Mike wasn't a saint and loyal to Chicago, just like Reggie wasn't a saint and loyal to Indianapolis. We overpaid to keep Reggie here late in his career because that was the right thing to do. He was damn ready to go play for New Jersey.
