A lot of talks on Kobe's scoring streak and people are forgetting this is actually a Lakers team Now. The win over the Warriors convinced me that if the team is offered a chance to get an all-star PF/PG for Bynum, they really have to pull the trigger now.
Ronny has always shown how much heart he has in playing this game, and Kobe said that the two of them always practice together going one on one like 45 minutes before other players arrive. And in the 4th quarter in the last game he really has shown flashes of brilliance. If he can continue to improve and with the heart he has in the sport, he can be a serious force off the bench for the team.
And while he clearly doesn't deserves what he's getting paid right now, Kwame is a keeper for this team IMO. The one thing I'd rather have him on the team than Bynum is that Bynum is too soft, slow and uninterested in playing defense. Kwame basically is the defense of the team this year, you can see how big a difference he makes on the team's defense. He's tremendously strong and quick off his feet, having all the physical tools to be a outstanding big in today's league. He must get to learn what to do with the ball and rebound the ball better on the defensive end though.
The only untradable would still be Kobe, but the core players this team is going to build around should be: Kwame, Ronny, Odom, Luke and Kobe.
(Luke, while being too slow to defend, is the glue to the team's triangle offense.)
If they can, through trading the guys not on the above list, get a young all-star PF, and then a PG with good defense and knowing how to share the ball, the Lakers will look something like this
C: Kwame/ Ronny
PF: Through Trade/ Ronny/ Odom
SF: Odom/ Walton
SG: Kobe
PG: Through Trade
This will be a perfect team for the triangle offense and while not wasting Kobe's prime, wouldn't look too weak when Kobe gets old/ retired.

Bynum's young, give him some time. You don't just trade away something that could become a very important part in your franchise. He's like...19? Shit, if I was going up against some of those NBA guys at 19, I'd be soft too.

yeah man give that kiddo some time... and I don't really think he'll need much time he has developed tremendously from last season to this one... plus he had some great blocks this year... I think he can really be a factor next season.. the thing I see though if they continue to improve we might have 6 starters.... (Bynum/Kwame/Luke/Odom/Kobe/Smush)
I totally agree on Ronny he has a lot of passion to this game... always jumpin out his seat and shit

Kobe
is the team. Playing Kobe ball is the only way we'll win it all. UNLESS, freakin Mitch gets us a consistent, reliable, 2nd option that is an allstar. Or, if Odom breaks out one day and becomes our Scottie Pippen. Until then, we'll never get championship for a long time.
Too bad Odom smokes weed, no wonder he's so inconstent. Proof:

I see the Lakers wearing these new uniforms, representing the flags of the world with a little patch on it. Anybody know what these are for?

It's for fiesta Lakers.
Mon Apr 02, 2007 2:35 pm
nice W today... hope they can do the same thing with above .500 teams. smush has got to become a better distributor.... if the lakers want to go deep in the playoffs...
Mon Apr 02, 2007 5:39 pm
Its great to see everyone back on the floor again with Maurice back now. Great to see everyone contributing as well!
Sat Apr 14, 2007 4:23 pm
Wow... The Lakers are only a half-game ahead of GSW and LAC. I never thought that LA might miss the playoffs! Whoa...
Sat Apr 14, 2007 4:56 pm
they should just drop their last 2 games and pray for a great off season and better lotto pick
Sat Apr 14, 2007 5:19 pm
LA has 3rd worst record since January 17th......only better than Memphis & Minnesota
Sat Apr 14, 2007 7:03 pm
It looks terrible right now... I still wish they get to the playoffs alongside of the Warrior maybe that'll wake them up but it really looks like Clips and GSW will make the Playoffs... they on a run now
Mon Apr 16, 2007 12:34 pm
FARMAR got the start today against Seattle!! and Kwame's back! LA is up big, add that to the Clip's loss, looks like LA's gonna clinch!

Hmmm, seems like the fakers are going to cruise to a win today. And with the clippers horrible loss to sac earlier today. It looks like its going to be the fakers and GSW who will be in the playoffs. It is cool though that Don Nelson might be facing his old team...

With Smush's contract expiring, i wonder if this means he is out of the laker's team next season. With the fakers probably opting to seek and sign a veteran PG.
Mon Apr 16, 2007 1:23 pm
I bet Smush is pissed right now, hes been having problems with Phil recently but now since farmar took his starting job. Hes mad. Lakers are doing good right now and Kobe seems to have his legs under him again.

I hope the Lakers lose so I can see the Warriors in the Playoffs. They deserve to be there, and I really wanna see Baron Davis get his credit. He never gets talked about now days, but he coul be a top 2-3 PG in the league if he can stay healthy. Does anyone realize he has averaged 20/8/4 and 2 steals?
That was an incredibly high intensity game by the Warriors today against Minnesota. I wonder if Dallas will rest the starters and give Don the win so they can pretty much clinch a playoff spot (they will most likely beat POR in their final game)?
It would be interesting to see Don Nelson vs Avery Johnson in the first round.

The Lakers are gona win tonigth, and Kobes about to get 50 so, deal with it.
Mon Apr 16, 2007 1:52 pm
Yep, looks like it. Crazy shooting by Kobe tonight.
EDIT: 50 for Kobe, what a dunk!
Mon Apr 16, 2007 1:57 pm
Ya shot 18-25 he was on a mission tonight, lakers clinched a playoff berth. I dont know how theyre gona do against the Suns but playoffs are better thn no playoffs.
BTW what does this make this 10, 50 point games for Kobe this year?
That either passes Wilts season record or Wilt has a bit higher one.
Mon Apr 16, 2007 2:00 pm
Not sure, I think Wilts is far, far higher. They showed that graphic, MJ with 31 50 point games, Kobe with 21 and Wilt with 100+ I believe.
Lamar is loving this, see him at that free throw line?
Mon Apr 16, 2007 2:03 pm
Hmm your probley right, but they did say Wilt had A,meaning one out of his thousands and thousands, season with only 9 50 point games. So Kobe passes that one.
Mon Apr 16, 2007 2:16 pm
I don't expect the Lakers to do much in the playoffs, but i'm happy they're there. Kobe shooting was MAD tonight. unbelieveable.
Mon Apr 16, 2007 2:19 pm
Wilt averaged over 50 points one season, so I think that probably suggests he scored 50 more than 10 times that season. I think it was around 35 tims or something...
