Marquis: I'll accept entries one game late for 1/2 points. Here is game 2!

Blazers Backcourt duo scored 51 in blowout win

Image 20 17 22 17 76
Image 25 28 25 26 104

Portland, Oregon - So far, Allen Iverson has been the only impact player for Denver in this series, and in the game 2 blowout it showed. Though Portland also depended on their stellar backcourt, the rest of the team also put up solid contributions. Maurice Williams and Brandon Roy were the driving forces for the Blazers. They combined for 51 points, 18 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks on 21-24 shooting.

Portland outscored Denver in every quarter. Point Guard Allen Iverson had a good game with 26 points and 6 assists, but everyone else played terrible for the Nuggets. Carmelo only had 12 points on an embarassing 5-22 from the field. The rest of the team had under 10 points. LaMarcus Aldridge put up a solid 10-10 for Portland, and Mike Miller had 7 points and 12 rebounds. But it was truly Williams and Roy who dominated the game, as Portland coasted to a 104-76 win.

Player of the Game: Guard Brandon Roy (Portland) 25 points, 10 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 10-12 FG

Blazers lead series 2-0

Arrgh. ScoopDoggyDogg posted 5 seconds ahead of me yesterday. Oh well, here is game 3. I'm crossing my fingers for replies.

Blazers move closer to sweep as they blow out Nuggets by ridiculous margin

Image 25 25 32 25 107
Image 19 8 22 13 62

Denver, Colorado - In the third quarter of the unbelievable blowout, point guard Sergio Rodriguez probably summarized the game best. While playing for the first time of his career, he asked teammate Charlie Bell "are they even trying?". And that was the question buzzing after Game 3. Portland blew Denver out by 45 points, limiting them to just 62 points. "I played over 40 minutes in the first 2 games, but I only had to play 28 tonight. After we took a twenty point lead, they pretty much gave up all hope. We didn't even play that good!", commented rookie guard Brandon Roy on the win.

Carmelo Anthony was the only player to score in double figures with 13, but shot a hideous 3-19. Allen Iverson, Denver's MVP of the series was limited to 7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. There was no clear top player for Portland. Aldridge had 14 and 9, Mo Williams had 11 and 10, while Roy scored 23 in limited minutes. In the end, Eddie Jones, who played the entire second half was the top player with 18 points and 9 rebounds on 8-10 shooting. A sweep for Portland appears to be a certainty now.

Player of the Game: Forward Eddie Jones (Portland) 18 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 8-10 FG

Blazers lead series 3-0

Other Game 3's

Anyway, awesome to see you continue with this.

Aldridge had 13 and 12, Miller had 14 and 9 and Mo Williams finished with 23 points, 12 assists and 4 rebounds. Eddie Jones came off the bench for 15. Yes, you can participate, you are just at a disadvantage since you don't have points from Round 1; but then again, -km- is the only person so far to play both rounds, so it is wide open. ;)

Here it finally is. Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals!

Third Quarter Surge leads Mavs over Blazers

Image 37 23 29 21 110
Image 35 32 16 19 102

Portland, Oregon - The only team that had a perfect record in the first round's streak has ended. After a high-octane second half, Portland led 67-60. Everything was looking good, until the third quarter, when Jerry Stackhouse and Josh Howard exploded and led Dallas to a six-point lead after 3. In the end, the duo finished with a combined 48 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Dirk and Terry were pretty quiet. Dirk had 14 and 10, but Terry had no points and 6 assists.

In the fourth, Portland kept on getting close to regaining the lead, but then Dallas would go on a small run. In the end, Dallas held on for the win, 110-102. In the losing effort, Mo Williams has 25 points and 6 assists. Roy had 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. LaMarcus Aldridge had 20 and 10 impressively.

Player of the Game: Forward Josh Howard (Dallas) 23 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 10-12 FG

Mavericks lead series 1-0

Aldridge puts up first 20-20 as Blazers tie series

Image 19 27 22 20 88
Image 24 33 29 20 106

Portland, Oregon - Following a disappointing Game 1, the Blazers gave it their all in Game 2, and defeated last year's Western Conference champs. The big highlight was Rookie LaMarcus Aldridge, who had a career night. He scored 24 points and grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds.

The Blazers outplayed Dallas in every quarter. They finished the first half up 11 and never looked back. Dirk Nowitzki has a great game with 20 and 15, and Devin Harris scored 26, but nobody else stepped up for Dallas. Complementing Aldridge was Brandon Roy, who nearly got another triple double with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Mike Miller and Maurice Williams scored 21 and 19 respectively. The series will go to Dallas for Games 3 and 4. As a team, Portland shot 48%, as opposed to Dallas' 38%.

Blazers edge out Dallas for 2-1 series lead

Image 34 23 22 26 105
Image 31 17 26 25 99

Dallas, Texas - In just his rookie season, LaMarcus Aldridge is emerging as one of the league's dominant Centers, making 2-time All-Star Jamaal Magloire obsolete. Following his 24-20 performance, Aldridge played all but 5 minutes as he scored 27 points, and grabbed 13 rebounds. Yet again, he outshined Rookie Brandon Roy (11 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds) and Maurice Williams (21 points). The big three of Terry, Nowitzki and Howard came up big for Dallas, combining for 68 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists on combined 26-43 shooting, but their efforts were not enough.

It was all Portland in the first half, as they held on to a consistent 8-point lead throughout the second quarter. Dallas managed to stay alive in the third quarter, but in the end, Portland took Game 3 105-99. Dampier did well off the bench with 14 points and 15 boards. The Blazers have regained Homecourt advantage in the series.

Mavs tie series behind Dirk's big game

Image 30 22 27 24 103
Image 32 26 23 27 108

Dallas, Texas - The Mavericks have equalized their series between the Portland Trailblazers. Nowitzki dominated the game, and Millsap was unable to handle him. Scoring 28 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, Dirk recieved "The Real MVP" chants by the end of the game. He also got help from Josh Howard, who also had 20 and 10. Both point guards Terry and Harris had 20 too. Aldridge's 19 points and 9 rebounds guarding Dirk and Dampier in 43 minutes was all for naught as Dallas won 108-103.

The big difference was the first half. For the first time this series, Dallas had a lead at the half. They held on to that small lead for the rest of the game. Mo Williams had an off-night, getting 10 points and only 1 assist. He also fouled out and shot 30%. Brandon Roy had 11 points, 8 assists and 3 rebounds. Mike Miller led his team with 20 points, to go with his 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The series is now a best of 3, with Portland owning homecourt advantage.
