Oh man an excellent fourth quarter. You shut Bobcats down really powerfully.

Nice play by Williams for the game against Sacramento, nice stats from Magloire...

Good luck against SA...

To make up for the lack of replies, here are 3 more recaps.

Blazers kill Spurs in second, win ninth straight win

Played Game | March 6, 2007 | Spurs (33-27) @ Bobcats (35-25) |

One of this season's surprises has been the disappointing Spurs, who follow a 63 win season with a campaign that is on course for only 45 wins. And so the surging Blazers did something that could have never happened last year: beat the Spurs for the SECOND time. Led by Mike Miller and Brandon Roy, Portland managed to lead by far after the first. Then they started the second with a 15-4 run and never looked back. Leading 62-38 at the half, they switched to their bench in the third, and the Spurs slowly came back, as Eddie Jones (who had a big game with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals on 8-11 shooting) was the only Blazer who could score.

Fortunately, the Spurs ran out of gas in the fourth as Maurice Williams exploded with 17 points and 15 assists, clinching Player of the game honors. Duncan played well for San Antonio, grabbing 20 rebounds, but only scoring 7 points. The lack of a talented point guard really hurt the Spurs (who, despite having three proficent shooting guards, traded their all-star Point Guard Tony Parker for underachiever Larry Hughes earlier this season) as starter Travis Best failed to run the offense and had only 4 assists. Brandon Roy led his team in scoring with 22 points, though Mike Miller had 21. A turning point in the first quarter was an amazing 4 point play by Miller that gave the Blazers their first lead, which they never lost.

Streak continues to grow as Blazers destroy Warriors

Simmed Game | March 11, 2007 | Warriors (35-28) @ Blazers (36-25) |

After winning by their biggest margin of the season against the Memphis Grizzlies recently, the Blazers have topped that number again as they blow out the Warriors by 38 points. Led by Maurice Williams' 20 points and 10 assists, the Blazers blew by Golden State 99-61. This win marks their tenth straight victory and also puts them in the second playoff seed. The game was never close as Portland won every quarter by at least 9 points. Brandon Roy scored 16 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds. LaMarcus Aldridge had a good game with 16 and 11. Jason Richardson and Steven Jackson were the only Warriors that scored in double digits (while all Blazers starters + Fisher had at least 10). The Los Angeles Clippers are 2 games behind, the Mavericks 2 and a half. This is Maurice Williams' third straight Player of the Game.

Win streak ends at 10, Blazers fall into tie with Clippers for Second Place

Simmed Game | March 13, 2007 | Blazers (37-25) @ Nuggets (33-28)

All-Star Point Guard Allen Iverson had a huge game with 33 points as he led the Nuggets past the Portland Trailblazers 80-73. The 32 year old Iverson played all but one minute in the game as the Nuggets played an overall better game than Portland. Rookie of the year frontrunner Brandon Roy scored a season low 3 points, and had a terrible game as he fouled out for the first time in his short career. Carmelo Anthony had a melo game with 12 points. Forwards Mike Miller and LaMarcus Aldridge led Portland with 21 and 20 points respectively, and both had 9 rebounds. While this ends Portland's winning streak, they have still won 8 straight at home and will hope to extend that streak to nine against Detroit. They are currently tied for second place with the L.A. Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks are half a game behind them.

Well as far as I remember you're not far from the playoffs, five, six more wins should do it, and you should get a 7th or 6th seed... Hope you'll be successful, GL!

Actually, I have a pretty nice lead in the Northworst Division, and I'm still tied for second. It is a possibility that I could steal the second spot! Game vs. Detroit should be up soon as I put my home streak on the line.

Note: Yeah, I haven't updated in a long time, but here is a big update with another one on the way. This game is pretty boring so I want to finish this thing.

Blazers Amazing Defense Holds Detroit to 57 Points!

Simmed Game | March 14, 2007 | Pistons (34-28) @ Blazers (37-26)

In a ridiculous game of low-scoring teams, the Portland Trailblazers defeated the Pistons 78-57. The two teams' scores totaled 135. The game started normally, with Detroit up 20-19 after the first. Then, Portland dominated the second quarter, outscoring Detroit 25-7! The Blazers continued to play tough defense as they outscored the Pistons 34-30 in the second half to pull out the win. After a series of mediocre games, Center Jamaal Magloire was replaced by rookie Paul Millsap, who had a huge game in his first game as a starter, grabbing a double-double.

Blazers lose heartbreaker in L.A.

Played Game | March 16, 2007 | Blazers (38-26) @ Lakers (31-34)

Kobe Bryant had a pretty quiet game as Brandon Roy did a nice job of guarding him. It was Maurice Evans and Vladimir Radmanovic who kept the Lakers alive. But with 5 seconds to go, Blazers up 1, Kobe hit a long jumper to give the Lakers their 32nd win of the season. The game was relatively quiet offensively. Brandon Roy and Kobe Bryant led their teams with 18 and 19 points respectively, and the Lakers won 77-76. LaMarcus Aldridge, in his second game starting at Center scored 9 points, but grabbed 13 rebounds.

Blazers lose 2 straight for first time since January

Simmed Game | March 18, 2007 | Sonics (28-38) @ Blazers (38-27)

Portland's loss to the Seattle SuperSonics was a big one. It is their first 2 game losing streak since January, ends their twelve game home streak and the Blazers failed to clinch a season-series victory against Northwest rivals. The Sonics, led by Ray Allen's 38 points used a 26-14 third quarter to clinch a major victory against Portland. The Blazers had an underwhelming game. Aldridge and Millsap had double-doubles, all starters scored 10 or more points, and Roy had another 18 point game. Coach Nate McMillar responded to the loss saying "We just didn't play with enough intensity. They had a five-point lead at the half, and let them run away with the win in the third. We need to regain our focus."

Arenas and Jamison hand Portland third straight loss

Played Game | March 20, 2007 | Wizards (30-37) @ Blazers (38-28)

Portland played with intensity, they played a great game. Washington just played better. Superstar Gilbert Arenas lit the Blazers up with 34 points on 13-20 shooting, but Antawn Jamison was the real star of the show scoring only 16 points but grabbing a season-high 22 rebounds. Brandon Roy led Portland with 21 points and 7 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Washington outplayed them for the win.

Blazers end skid with win over New York

Simmed Game | March 22, 2007 | Blazers (38-29) @ Knicks (32-35)

The Trailblazers ended their 3 game skid with a big win in New York. The first 3 quarters looked like the past couple of games, with the Knicks leading by two going into the fourth. That was when Portland exploded, outscoring the Knicks 36-19 wn route to a 96-81 win. Derek Fisher was the hero as he exploded off the bench for a season-high 26 points. The rest of the Blazers had underwhelming games, though Magloire was impressive with a double-double off the bench. Channing Frye was the only Knick who really came to play in the end. He finished with 24 points and 6 rebounds.

Blazers suffer embarassing loss to Hawks

Simmed Game | March 23, 2007 | Blazers (39-29) @ Hawks (27-42)

A day after defeating the Knicks, the Blazers lost to the Atlanta Hawks. Led by Joe Johnson, who had 25 points, Atlanta held off a late Portland rally to win the game. Jamaal Magloire earned the starting nod over Aldridge, and had a huge game, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Magloire's big game was not enough however, as the Hawks won 82-76.

Blazers squeak by Wolves

Played Game | March 25, 2007 | Blazers (39-30) @ Wolves (29-39)

Portland came into this game determined for a win. They jumped out to a 4-point lead at the end of the first, but Minnesota contained them, and managed to keep the game close at the half. The Blazers exploded in the third, lerading by as much as fifteen. The Wolves fought back however, dropping the lead to ten at the end of the period, than tying the game with under a minute left in regulation. Maurice Williams hit a bit three for the Blazers to put them up 3, but Garnett answered right back with a big dunk. The Blazers ran the clock down, then Roy hit a jumped with 5 seconds to go, giving his team a three-point lead. Mike James failed to hit a desperation 3 as Portland won it 81-78. Kevin Garnett amazingly was held to just 10 points, though he made up for it with 14 rebounds.

Millsap explodes for career-high 25 as Blazers finish road trip 3-1

Simmed Game | March 26, 2007 | Blazers (40-30) @ Bulls (40-31)

One of Kirk Hinrich's best games of the season was overshadowed by rookie Paul Millsap. Hinrich, who scored 27 points, dished 11 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds in a losing record was huge for the Bulls. Unfortunately, a big first quarter propelled Portland to the win. While the rest of the Blazers had their usual stat lines, Paul Millsap scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the win. Despite the loss, Kirk Hinrich's big game was rewarded with Player of the Game honors.

Blazers clinch first winning record since 2003 with victory

Simmed Game | March 29, 2007 | Grizzlies (33-38) @ Blazers (41-30)

For the first time since the 2003 season where they went 50-32, the Blazers have clinched a winning record. With a balanced attack, they contained star Forward Pau Gasol to 12 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Sam Cassell and Forward Rudy Gay rose to the occasion, both scoring 20, but it wasn't enough, as Maurice Williams nearly had a triple-double to lead Portland to another victory. This cripples the struggling Grizzlies playoff hopes, and the Blazers stay a game ahead of the Kings and Clippers for the second seed in the Western Conference.

Simmed Game | March 31 2007 | Clippers (42-30) @ Blazers (42-30)

It was home cooking from start to finish as the Portland Trailblazers slaughtered the Los Angeles Clippers. This puts the Clippers a half game behind third-seed Sacramento and a full game behind 2nd seed Portland. There was no standout star for the victorious Blazers, through Mike Miller posted solid numbers with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Eddie Jones was helpful off the bench, having a perfect shooting game. He scored 16 points in 13 minutes, going 5-5 from the field, 3-3 from long range and 3-3 from the line.

Thanks for replying and continuing to follow Drex! Here is the last big update of the weekend...

*stats as of April 3

Race to the MVP

1. Dwyane Wade (MIA) 28.1 PPG, 7.6 APG, 6 RPG, 2.9 SPG, 1.2 BPG, .536% FG, .412 3PT, .762 FT - Will undoubtably be the MVP. With all of his teammates on the decline, Wade has led his team to a 52-22 record with 8 games to go, good enough to clinch the best record in the East. With stats improved in every category, numbers all also on the young star's side. Barring injury, he has the award in the bag.
3. Paul Pierce (BOS) 28.7 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 3.9 APG, 1.9 SPG, 0.3 BPG, .499% FG, .332% 3PT, .817% FT - Who would have thought Boston would hold the second seed in the East at this point of the season? Pierce has had his biggest season yet, and is looking to relive the glory that was the 2002 season. If somehow Wade loses MVP, then it would be a crime not giving it to The Truth.
3. LeBron James (CLE) 25.5 PPG, 6.3 APG, 5.9 RPG, 1.7 SPG, 1.0 BPG, .472% FG, .326% 3PT, .739% FT - Due to a weak team record, and stats that are actually WORSE than last season, he has no chance at winning the award, but then again... barring Dwyane Wade, nobody else does either.
4. Shawn Marion (PHX) 20.3 PPG, 11.3 RPG, 2.4 SPG, 2.1 BPG, 1.1 APG, .509% FG, .355% 3PT, .820% FT - There is yet again a Phoenix Sun in the Race for MVP, but it isn't Nash this time. Like James, he does not have a chance to win this award, but he has a good chance to win the Defensive Player award.
5. Kobe Bryant (LAL) 32.3 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 3.9 APG, 1.9 SPG, 0.2 SPG, .490% FG, .353% 3PT, .847% FT - When you average 32.3 PPG, you have to be mentioned in MVP talks.

Rookie Rankings

1. Brandon Roy POR 16.2 PPG, 4.4 APG, 4.3 RPG, 1.7 SPG, 0.7 BPG, .472% FG, .411% 3PT, .803% FT - Roy has had this award in the bag since day one. And with Portland's newfound success, voting for this award will be as lopsided as last season.
2. Rudy Gay MEM 14.1 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 2.0 PPG, 1.5 SPG, 1.2 BPG, .473% FG, .424% 3PT, .718% FT - Has put up decent numbers for a mediocre Memphis team. After Miller was dealt to Portland, he earned the starting nod. One of the better players to come out of this weak draft class.
3. Shelden Williams ATL 12.4 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.3 BPG, 0.8 SPG, 0.7 APG, .461% FG, .000% FG, .745% FT - Roy has this award in the bag, but Williams is putting up decent enough numbers, though his team is struggling.
4. LaMarcus Aldridge POR 10.2 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.2 BPG, 0.7 APG, 0.5 SPG, .491% FG, .000% 3PT, .631% FT - Though overshadowed by fellow rookie Roy, has improved greatly since the all-star break and is putting up great numbers starting at Center. He may be the reason why Magloire won't be resigned this summer.
5. Randy Foye MIN 13.4 PPG, 3.1 APG, 2.6 RPG, 1.0 SPG, .439% FG, .377% 3PT, .835% FT - Is having a decent season starting for the Timberwolves. Still, right now it looks like they got the short end of the stick trading Brandon Roy for him.

Nice dynasty. I really liked the trade for Millsap and Fisher. Smart move, like most of the ones you've made. How many years left on Miller's contract and how big is it?

Can't wait to see what goes down in the playoffs. I hope the Raptors can make a late surge and knock out the Knicks. Hopefully we'll see some Portland team and player stats at the end of the season, too.

Keep it up. (Y)

Thanks for the reply. Sucks that this Association is so unpopular though. :( The season is ALMOST OVER! Here are a couple more updates. Also, Mike Miller's contract is 8.25 million with 4 years (counting this one) remaining. To be honest, I may trade him along with Warrick and Sergio Rogriguez for new starting forwards this offseason. I don't like Miller's contract too much.

Injury News

Starting Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas of the Cleveland Cavaliers has been injured and it out for the remained of this season and half of next season. He will miss 281 days due to a strained ACL. Tough break for the Cavs who will most likely be forced to start young PF Anderson Varejao. There is also a small chance that Scott Pollard will start.

Blazers destroy Jazz

Simmed Game | April 4, 2007 | Jazz (23-50) @ Blazers (43-30)

Portland took another step towards clinching their division as they defeated the Utah Jazz 86-72. The fairly predictable game had Portland take a 10 point first quarter lead, then hold on to it for the Win. Carlos Boozer had a decent game for the Jazz, with 18 and 11 on 60% shooting, but it was all for naught. Utah was held to under 20 points in all 4 quarters. The Jazz are the current frontrunners for the #1 pick in the NBA draft with a record of 23-51.

Roy scores 50!

Played Game | April 6, 2007 | Blazers (44-30) @ Rockets (39-36)

In a close win to the Houston Rockets, Blazer combo guard Brandon Roy put up an amazing 50 points. The hometeam Rockets did very well in the first, outscoring Portland by nine. Brandon Roy was the only one able to score, and had 21 of his team's 25 points. The second period was more favorable to Portland, and the ball was passed around more, but Houston still held a tight lead at the half. Portland used strong defense to come back in the third. 72 all going into the fourth.

The final period score seesawed for a while. Brandon Roy took control with 4 minutes remaining to put Portland up 12. The Rockets did a decent job recovering as they cut the lead to 3 with 12 seconds left. However, a few desperation fouls later, Portland has won the game 101-95. The Mavericks actually won the game in the first quarter, leading 30-11 after the first. Portland failed to recover from it as Dallas led by as many as 22 points. Brandon Roy followed up his huge 50 point game by exploding for an amazing 8 points on 29% shooting.

Blazers top Spurs in Overtime Thriller

Played Game | April 9, 2007 | Blazers (45-31) @ Spurs (43-33)

What an unforgetable game. After a perfectally even first half (tied 51-51), the Spurs outscored the Blazers by 9 in the third, and Portland did the same in the fourth, forcing overtime. Spurs jumped out to a 6-0 run in the extra period, but Brandon Roy and Maurice Williams countered that with 2 consecutive threes. There was a scoring drought for the next minute, and with 5 seconds left, tied at 106, there would be a second overtime. Mike Miller would not allow it as he hit a long jumper to win the game. Manu Ginobili scored 27 points for San Antonio and also had 10 assists. Duncan was the real star for the Spurs with 32 and 15. There was no star for Portland as Roy, Williams, Miller and Aldridge all had equally impressive games.

Blazers Rocket to first division title in 7 seasons with victory

Simmed Game | April 11, 2007 | Rockets (41-37) @ Blazers (46-31)

In the second game versus Houston in 5 days, Brandon Roy did not score 50 or come close to it, but the game was another nail-biter. Limited to 13 points, Brandon Roy wasn't the star of the show. Instead, backcourt mate Maurice Williams was. Portland and Houston traded the lead back-and-forth for the entire game, but Portland came out victorious, yet again with a 92-90 decision. Not only did the rockets come short of a win, but T-Mac came 1 assist short of a triple-double. Hey I'm checking this out too, not always posting just for posting, I probably should though...

Good luck towards the end of the season, looking good (Y) esp. Roy for 50 and your record with the Blazers.

Last regular season update! I got distracted playing with the Nuggets (same playing style as mine) and my new player ratings. Tuomas: Great to hear you follow this. I would like it if you posted replies, just because I like to know that you guys are reading, and so it gets more replies. Also, special thanks to Drex, who if not for him, I may not have finished this. Anyway, the end of the season!

Miller, Blazers Win third straight

Simmed Game | April 13, 2007 | Blazers (47-31) @ Clippers (45-34)

Mike Miller was the man for Portland, as they got some serious breathing room for the second playoff seed in the Western conference. Scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, he fueled the Blazers 48th win of the season. Portland killed LA defensively in the first half, holding them to just 27 points. The second half was the opposite though as Clippers scored 63. In the end, Portland was the victor; winning 97-90.

Player of the Game: Forward Mike Miller: 23 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 6-11 FG, 8-9 FT

Starting in the first, Portland was more determined, outscoring Seattle 37-20. Their strong play continued into the rest of the game as they coasted past Seattle 102-76. Ray Allen played well for Seattle, with 22 points, but Lewis had a horrible game. Being guarded by Paul Millsap most of the game, he did not play many minutes bue to foul trouble. He was also contained to 7 points, taking 9 shots. Roy had a good game, scoring 21 points, dishing 5 assists and grabbing 4 rebounds. Teammate Maurice Williams took the title of POG, due to Roy shooting an abysmal 7-22 from the field, and 0-7 from beyond the arc.

Blazers finish Season with win, best record since 2000

Simmed Game | April 18, 2007 | Warriors (44-37) @ Blazers (50-31)

In a high-scoring affair, the Blazers blew out the Warriors for their 51st win of the season. With a record of 51-31, the Blazers with the 2nd seed will face Denver in the first round of the playoffs. Had Golden State won the game, it would have been a Blazers v. Warriors series. Annual Awards

Most Valuable Player: Dwyane Wade, Heat - Obvious pick. He has great stats and is the best player on the best team.

Rookie of the Year: Brandon Roy, Blazers - ROY wins ROY! He was a huge part in Portland's shocking success and put up great stats.

Sixth Man of the Year: Chris Webber, Pistons - It was believed that Webber would start at Center when the Pistons acquired him. Instead, he shared minutes at the PF and C positions with Wallace and Mohammed. Meanwhile, McDyess sits on the bench with nothing to do. Averaging 13 and 7, I would say this was a good selection though.

Defensive Player of the Year: Shawn Marion, Suns - Ben Wallace was the favorite all season, but the better man won. Leading the league in steals, and 5th in blocks; Marion has been a huge part of the Suns' success. Without him, who knows how many points the other team would score?

Most Improved Player: Dan Dickau, Bucks - A fairly obvious pick. Since being traded to Milwaukee, he has put up decent stats at the point (14 and 8). Last season, he averaged 3 points and 2 assists.

Coach of the Year: Pat Riley, Heat - Another obvious pick. THe Heat have the best record in the league, and he was a big part of it.

Executive of the Year: Liam Washburn, Blazers - Yeah, take that Klein! Now who's unqualified? He has turned the lottery loser Blazers into Playoff contenders. Amazing.

The series are best of 7. Guess the winner of each series and in how many games (example: Knicks in 5, Celtics 4-3, etc.). Guessing the correct winner will get you a point, picking the right amount of games will earn you 3 points. Also, in the first round, points are times 1. Conf. semis: 2, Conf. finals: 3, Finals: 4. Enjoy!

Thanks for the comments. Drex... the sim engine in 2K7 is pretty terrible. I have a sim dynasty that is at around 2030, and about 40% of the time, an 8th seed upsets the first. Will post matchups soon... I think this will be a tough series. Be it this association or my Orlando one, Denver always kicks my ass.

Thanks for the replies. Last call for round 1 of the prediction game. Game 1's will be updated either tomorrow or Monday.

#7 Denver Nuggets VS. #2 Portland Trailblazers

Centers: Camby (Denver) vs. Aldridge, Magloire, Pryzbilla (Portland)
While Camby is a veteran all-star with serious talent, the Blazers are much deeper at the position. Camby can not play 48 minutes, so one of Denver's 4 Power Forwards will have to fill in for him. Aldridge and Magloire's combined stats beat Camby's, so Portland gets the slight edge at this position.

Advantage: Slight Portland

Forwards: Anthony, Russell, Kleiza, Najera, Martin, Nene, Evans, Sampson (Denver) vs. Miller, Jones, Outlaw, Millsap, Warrick (Portland

Denver has a serious advantage at the forward position. With an all-star in Anthony, and a former all-star in K-Mart, they are very talented. Also, Nene, Bryon Russell and Reggie Evans will be useful off the bench. Portland has average forwards who do their job, but Denver easily wins here.

Advantage: Denver

Guards: Iverson, Smith, Blake, Jackson, Barry, Johnson (Denver) vs. Williams, Roy, Bell, Fisher, Rodriguez

While Denver's veteran SG's (Jon Barry, Jim Jackson) will help them, a 10-man rotation will probably be used. And as great as Iverson is, he is the only seriously talented guard on the roster. Meanwhile, Portland has all-star caliber players in Williams and Roy, and talented backups in Bell and Fisher.

Advantage: Slight Portland

Intangibles: Denver has more experienced players than Portland. However, the Blazers have veteran reserves in Fisher and Jones who can still play, while 2 of Denver's veterans only play in garbage time. Derek Fisher will be the only former champion in the series. Portland's homecourt advantage and win streak gives them the edge.

Advantage: Portland

Prediction: Blazers in 6 - Denver has some serious talent in Iverson, Anthony and Camby. That big three will be hard to stop, but Portland should take this in the end.

Finally I am able to safely post replies without worrying about having to double or triple post to update. Anyway, I have played Game 1, and what a game. It was very close and I'll have the recap tomorrow. Also, I have changed the rules for the prediction game a bit. I am just changing the points you get for each selection. Sorry for any inconvenience, but you won't need to change your picks.

Points for Picks

Score +3 = Correct selection
Bonus + 2 = Picked Series Score correctly
Bonus + 1 = Picked lower seed to win correctly

So, there is potential to score 6 per series, and of course, this is multiplied times 2, 3 and 4 as it progresses.

Portland, Oregon - They did it. The Portland Trailblazers have won their first playoff game since Game 4 vs. Dallas in 2003. In the first half, they burst out of the gate as the stronger team, taking an 11 point lead at the half. Denver came out of Halftime energized and narrowed Portland's lead to 2. Not only that, he recorded his first ever triple-double with 28 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

"Brandon... he was just amazing. He played the entire game and never slowed down. He was unstoppable." Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony, who scored 20 points remarked. LaMarcus Aldridge was big for Portland also, scoring 18 points and grabbing 15 rebounds on 7-10 shooting. Rounding out the good performmances was Maurice Williams, who had 13 points and 11 assists. Iverson led Denver with 28 points, 12 assists and 4 steals.
