Is this SERIOUSLY what I can expect?

Postby mva5580 on Sun Feb 25, 2007 9:24 am

I picked up this game yesterday because I saw it for very cheap in a local game store, but also because of the crazy amount of downloads that are available on here. After reading that a patch took care of the fatigue/sub bug(s), I figured maybe the community could save the game.

I downloaded Jimmy's game fix, along with his recommended roster to be used with them. I've been playing on All-Star, and it's so unbelievable frustrating to me because EVERY SINGLE TIME the CPU just fast breaks the ball down the court and either gets a lay up or dunk attempt. Doesn't always go in, but that's how their offensive possessions go. And if they get the offensive rebound, they kick it out and somebody takes a 3. Their offensive possession rarely goes over 8 seconds.

There's no way I'm going to be able to play and tolerate this game if that's all it's ever going to be. If anyone out there has ANY suggestions and/or files to help alleviate this problem, I would appreciate it so much. Thank you!

Well his gameplay patch alters the sliders itself, but I guess I'll mess around with it a little more and see what I can do. But I mean is this how the game is for everyone? Does anybody else here have experiences with the game where the CPU AI doesn't drive to the hoop every single possession in this fashion that I've described? I mean I just don't know how you can tolerate playing this game if it's that way for everyone. It's just no fun at all.

I'm sorry but I've followed your directions exactly as you have them, and I've tried playing on Superstar as well and nothing different happens. I understand you put a lot of work into these things, and I do appreciate that, but it's just not doing what it claims to do. The CPU has absolutely zero plans on offense, they just run the ball down the court and either fire up a long shot or whoever took the ball down the court takes it right to the hoop. It's just infinitely frustrating. I'll detail you step by step what I've done to install what you have:

- I downloaded your roster file & Gameplay fix
- Installed roster file into My Documents/NBA 07
- Ran "Part 1" and "Part 2" of your gameplay fix archive
- extracted "plays.dbf" to your roster folder (using injuries ON roster)
- extracted teamplay fix files to the roster folder
- ran teamplayfixinjury.bat

Am I missing anything? I'm not using a dynasty file for anything yet, so I didn't touch the folder that says "For Dynasty Season or Playoff," so all I did were the exact steps above. I load the roster, get into a game on Superstar level, and it just doesn't play like a basketball game at all. And it also doesn't seem to me like there is any subbing in done either, and I DO have the patch installed. I just don't get it because this game seems totally unplayable unless you have some other suggestion for me.

One thing you must do in this years game is defend and prevent the point guard from getting into driving position before he gets beyond 3pt line, if you manage to do that, most of the time he will try to set plays. But you're right and seemed to figured out what a lot of us have already, this year's game is pretty weak.

I also got frustrated with the CPU always running fast breaks but if you immediately put a defender on the guy with the ball, and then immediately clamp down on anyone he passes to, I think you can stop most of his fast break layups and force him to run plays. Although the play that is usually run is a screen. I play on Starter (tried All-Star but it was too difficult for me right now) and am having fun despite all the weirdness.

why dont you try Pdub's aiact? from my experience on using it, the cpu use most of the shotclock setting up a play. making 2-4 passes each play before shooting.

I would do what pastordude says. I also play on Starter level and i do the same thing.

Is there any way to stop CPU from running the same play over and over again. where i think their SF goes around like 2 screens and their PG just waits there. Then when SF is open he passes it and SF always makes the shot. Even if i have a defender right on his face.

this game is rotten, and wrong in its foundations. all fixes can slightly make it better, but this game will remain a piece of crap. there's nothing good in live 07. With the consoles you can easy go with 2kgames, but with the PC you are obliged to try this horrible mess.

It's got potential since I do like the offseason stuff to start with but I agree with you, dude. Time to head back to '00.
