Franchise Game Players are Screwed!!

Postby Luke on Thu Nov 28, 2002 1:40 am

:(

Does anyone play their franchise games? I do, but like everyone else, I hate the way the game plays out of the box. So I installed a roster tweak that made the game pretty cool...and started my season. After two seasons, with my team and play progessively getting better, I started running into rookie players that simply outran everyone on the court. I soon realized that the computer generated rookies were not being made in the mold of the existing roster, as somone had mentioned. This sucks, because I cant play franchise any longer, unless I figure out what my patchmaker did and do that every season for every rookie, something most people dont have time for.....

So am I screwed here?

The tweaked rosters are not made to play in franchise with...
They were made purely for gameplay...

to deal with this issue, the patch should not be added on the roster but on AI files. anyone able to hack the AI files?

I guess sim engine needs to be modified, not the AI.
Or maybe there is a file with global variables in. Like a tune file.

I thought Tim said in his interview the rookies would be generated with ratings that would fit in with the league...

Tim has lied to us again (or else he was lied to).

Surprised? (not Tim specifically, but EA)

I have some good news. You can actually edit the ratings of these rookies as well with a global editor from what I hear. Wait till Andrew or someone begins work on the roster updates.

tim's interview

Postby scholt on Tue Dec 03, 2002 11:37 pm

he said 'rookies will be generated with the same ratings as the players in the league' or close, this was after the question about rookie ratings being too low as in 2001

he meant that the rookies will be able to compete w/ the players, the original players in the game

think about it, the game cannot check to see how the players have been modified then act accordingly

it can only create rooks in the preset mold that the players were orininally created, with the orininal ratings formula, not a tweaked one

One thing you can do is modify the rooks once they are created.
It is actually quite easy since all rookies are appended down at the bottom of the players.dbf file.

I guess you got to write down your tweak formula
and apply the tweak to the rookies right after they are drafted

something like

quickness * 0.8 where draft year = 2004
